In world news today and current events today, NowThis News spoke to these artists from Rwanda 25 years later on from the Rwandan genocide (event). In Rwanda, genocide's wounds linger on decades later. These Rwandan artists known as Envision Rwanda based in Kigali Rwanda are changing their country's reputation and healing old wounds through their art. Idi Basengo started drawing to recreate his mother's face. Basengo created his own combination of realism and abstract style called Basengoism. Basengo and other Rwandan artists are showcasing their work in New York City at a show called Rwanda Retold. Celine Uwineza and Franck Mabano are also involved in the show.
