A VERY Expensive Mistake. DON'T DO THIS!!!!

This has been my most expensive mistake of the year. Powerline easements are not just a recommendation. I learned they are a real and will be enforced, when push comes to shove.
My super-awesome site plan for the ranch included having the gym near the back of the house, which happened to be right under our power lines. At the time, I considered this as a potential risk, but did not realize the cost of re-routing the powerlines to a safe area where my structures would not encroach on the powerline easement. Fortunately, our lines were very old and wire was stretched well beyond normal distances, without support of a pole, in the area where I breached easement guidelines. This reduced the cost to me to replace power poles and re-route the lines.
Our electric provider was gracious and helpful as we worked through this problem. We now have brand new lines, a new transformer, a few new poles, a much safer route for the lines, and about 3x the power coming to the ranch we previously had. An expensive mistake on my part, but a great learning experience.
As we work through this craziness, I hope you enjoy a quick glimpse into a few daily chores on the ranch and a look at our wildlife. The drought and wicked Texas heat wave have been very hard on the people and the animals in this area. We are hoping the drought and the heat come to an end in the near future. We are still feeding hay, and I have a feeling my hay forks for our New Holland Workmaster 75 will stay close through Fall and Winter. I would love to give them a break, but we have no rain in the forecast.
