I’m half Zimbabwean half South African and I don’t know what it is about your video but I’m finally proud of what so many South Africans have made me feel ashamed of...and the crazy thing is a lot of people say I don’t look South African without knowing me
I relate so well I live in SA but I'm Zimbabwean and I always used to feel ashamed but now I'm so happy to see some representation through Vee and I'm not ashamed anymore 💕
You can tell a person's ethnicity just by looking at them. I find that it's usually easier to do so with women. I'm sorry you experienced xenophobia & tribalism
Ironically we have a saying in Zimbabwe that when you speak English very well as a native Bantu languages speaker we say Chirungu chinobuda nemumhino(Shona) Is'khiw' es'phuma ngamakhal'(Ndebele) "Your English comes out through the nose" translation ....seems the view is reciprocated by english speakers! Quite interesting but yes english sounds like has a higher pitch a bit when using Bantu languages as reference
Ohh Vee u a so much fun. I am a girl from South Africa, Xhosa speaking. We have 11 official languages and I'm so proud to hear u speak Shona bcoz it carries a lot Southern Africa in it. The signature in it is so close to home for me. I'm listening to this and I'm hearing hints of Venda and a lot of Tsonga and the indigenous speakers of these languages are up North in the country; very close to Zimbabwe. Well done. It's nice hearing a language of ours on a platform like urs.
This is true.. the first capital city of the Shona is in the north of South Africa, in areas where the Venda still live today... and Venda and Shona are very close mapungubwe where the ancestors of the Shona built the first capital there before moving to great Zimbabwe.. d it's related languages (which are the the mbire group of languages just like how Nguni is a group of common languages)
This is such a beautiful language🥺🥺🥰 As a Congolese and someone who doesn't speak lingala very well, you gave me the motivation to improve my language skills. Also, the way you express yourself in Shona is like music to my ears. I'm looking forward to speak your country dialect in the future.😊
My paternal and maternal grandmothers are Zimbabwean; one shona one shangana. I'm Zambian but because i spent so much time with them, and having a shona name, most people identify me as Zimbabwean. I speak and understand shona but not as well as you. I really enjoyed watching this...
There are a few words you said that sound so close to zulu words(my mother tongue) Beautiful👑youre such a vibe PS: God loves us, let us repent and give the Glory where its due 🎈
Vee, your language which you were speaking Shona is such a beautiful language. You should speak it more often on UA-cam. You spoke it very beautifully.
It's amazing how she is so more lively, fun and smiley when speaking her mother language ❤️❤️❤️ loved the video, Vee! Please make more videos in Shona, it is such a beautiful language ❤️
I didn't think it Was it possible for my "little sister"to glow anymore than she already does..and now we see her in her genesis language and she comes even more alive...you are a credit to zim, your family and yourself..may God bless you plentyyyyy. Keep shining vee your are the culmination of the hopes and dream of our ancestors.. think about that 😉
Venda is a Shona dialect, matter of fact Limpopo, Mpumalanga and NW provinces were part of Munhumutapa state (Zimbabwe). The SA you have was given to you by Europeans but historically speaking it was always part of Zimbabwe. Do your DNA and you will find much Shona ancestry.
This is so cool, because I’m also from Zim and also moved abroad at 8 years old. Your Shona is so much better than mine! I hope you can do more videos in Shona!
I love African languages. I live in South Africa and am learning Setswana as part of my teaching degree. I know Afrikaans too. I didn't know you were a Christian, Vee?
OMG, it was so nice getting to hear something that reminds me of home. I'm from Zambia 🇿🇲 but of course there is some things that are similar. We need to get Rhodesia (Zed and Zim) on the map... thanks vee

Ouuu, this was beautiful 🥰 and for someone that left at 6, impressive. Absolutely loved how you and your sister bantered with the language. Shona sounds melodiously and emphatically pleasing 💕. PS: The 'benninging' always throws me off 😂.
Beautiful language 🥰 Shona is such a cool and soothing language Not you asking rich men to slide in your dm at the end though😁 Looking forward to part 2 of this video and many more. African culture is so beautiful 😍
I enjoyed listening to what you said in today's video. The Shona language sounds exquisite. I would love for you to make a second part with your cousins! I hope you are your family are safe and sound

Vee it’s been super nice following your channel and motivating me to be that curious “life long learner” type of person that’s for sharing Shona with us I’ve never heard it before
I’m so jelly. I’m half Zimbabwean and half nigerian. But I only know English bc I was born and raised in the U.S. and my parents thought three languages would be too much. I guess they didn’t know kids pick up languages a lot better and quicker
wow! i actually looked for this video because i wanted to be more in touch with my Shona culture after not living in Zim from a young age ... it's like you are speaking to be directly! let me find my Genesis 😂❤

Absolutely love that even though you moved to the UK at 6yrs old, you still speak shona so fluently.
I've also went through that my whole life. But i stopped caring when I was in high school
You can tell a person's ethnicity just by looking at them. I find that it's usually easier to do so with women. I'm sorry you experienced xenophobia & tribalism
I’m Zimbabwean and was raised bilingual in Shona and English, but I have completely lost all my Shon a knowledge so this is so amazing to me🥰
Such a beautiful language, i would listen for hours on end 💖
Awwww yaaayy
Haha! you have never heard us speaking over each other and cackling 😭🤧 you'll have a big headache oooooo
Your voice is completely different in Shona 😯 I speak Spanish and English and my English voice is much deeper
Ahaha I noticed that too!!!
Ironically we have a saying in Zimbabwe that when you speak English very well as a native Bantu languages speaker we say

As someone who is semi-fluent in Igbo (it's spoken more in West Africa), I am loving this rep for African languages! Ahhh Shona sounds so beautiful!
Just hearing Vee speaking in her home language is INCREDIBLE and I absolutely loved the entire vibe of this video🥰
Awww thank you so much xxxx
Its crazy amazing how you moved to the UK at 7 and still have such a flawless UK accent. I spent years speaking English and still have an accent.
What a beautiful language; good on you for showcasing it on UA-cam as Shona is an obscure and mysterious language for most folks. :)
Ohh Vee u a so much fun.
I am a girl from South Africa, Xhosa speaking.
We have 11 official languages and I'm so proud to hear u speak Shona bcoz it carries a lot Southern Africa in it. The signature in it is so close to home for me.

Such a beautiful language!! Also fun fact - "shona" in Irish (pronounced "hunna") means "happy" :)
Ouhh that’s so cool
I'm Zambian and I have a Zimbabwean friend who's always teaching me shona songs😂😂 you remind me of her🥺
You seem even more empowered speaking Shona. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us, its like we saw a new Vee
