Frank was a real genius but crazy as hell...though his music is still one of my favorites....Sain 1984 @Bree-kend in Bree (Belgium) ...petty he died much too young...thanx for your awesome music Frank...
Fad Gadget & D. Mode are both very dear to me and this video is a wonderful showcase of an incredibly talented and influential person. Frank was also a wonderful human being and one of a kind. It was a truly lovely gesture from DM to give him this massive platform as special guest on the tour and one that many DM fans greatly appreciated. Funny to think that DM were special guests of Fad Gadget all those years ago when Vince was the driving force in the band. RIP Frank Tovey, sadly missed but never forgotten.
Thanks for this. Sadly I never saw Frank in action, being still at heart a shut-up-and-bash-yer-geetar kinda guy. But he was a true originator. Tragic to think he was gone a year later. Nice to have a live memorial.
Instead of "Hail to the Chief (Clown)" being played in January and February of 2021, someone should covertly replace that with this, since we're bound to be in for another four lousy years of insanity and chaos, this time from the other end of the spectrum - just like the previous four have been.
Saw him a few times in the early 80s. Best gig: Fad Gadget, The Southern Death Cult (later the Cult) then Bauhaus. At the time I thought that sort of line-up would be common place. Silly me :)
@@Driessens_PeterWas there as my first and last concert of Fad Gadget. Never I would see him live. It wa so awesome. Unbelievable he died not even a year later.
MxMoondoggie Not quite true! I saw 15 shows of the Depeche Mode tour with Fad Gadget in 2001 and the reaction to Fad Gadget's set just got better and better with each gig. It was a little reluctant in Berlin but later at the Nuremberg show the crowd was chanting "Gadget! Gadget!" before his gig! Most Depeche Mode fans were quite aware what Fad Gadget meant to DM's history and New Wave in general.
Seriously wtf?!!! If I was lucky enough to see him live I wouldn't stand there motionless. He sounded great too, I don't fucking get it. Unfortunately, I'll never get to see him in person. RIP Mr. Tovey
Not so sure about his involvement with New Wave but he was definitely there contributing to the emergence of the Industrial movement. Literally, he used industrial construction tools as musical instruments.
Hmmmm.... I saw Queen play at Wembley (Magic tour), shortly after which Freddie mercury died I saw FG play in London (about 10 years ago)... I got to see them, but I'm far from happy about it, if you know what I mean...
He was The greatest ❤
Frank is one of my most missed artists of all time.A one off genius. R.I.P Fad x

State Of The Nation
State Of The Nation - Ricky's Hand - Love Parasite..
Wasn’t this concert years after he abandoned his brand of synth pop to do a folk- based music?
Saw him a few times in the early 80s. Best gig: Fad Gadget, The Southern Death Cult (later the Cult) then Bauhaus. At the time I thought that sort of line-up would be common place. Silly me :)

I guess all you can expect from fans of commercial music like Depeche Mode is no reaction to a true genius. It's depreessing.

MxMoondoggie "True genius"...Like Martin Gore wasn't!
DM is 'commercial' only for idiots like you making stupid pointless comparisons
What a boring crowd! These people had no idea what they had in front of them!
Seriously wtf?!!! If I was lucky enough to see him live I wouldn't stand there motionless. He sounded great too, I don't fucking get it. Unfortunately, I'll never get to see him in person. RIP Mr. Tovey
Frank was the father of New-Wave...

new wave goes back way before him
