When it gets to the part where they're using the infrared to scan the mountain at first I was afraid that Goliath was gonna come crashing through the doors to take Michael and KITT out.

My mother bought me a black 24" dirt bike for my birthday with gold rims. She bought it right when this episode of Knight Rider was shown. My friends called my bike . . . GOLIATH. I was the only person on the block with a 24" wheel dirt bike. And I was barely tall enough to ride it.
I watched this when it aired in the 80s, I was around 7 at the time and a Knight Rider fanatic. I remember the sheer horror of seeing the near indestructible KITT totally wrecked, how Goliath seemed like this unstoppable juggernaut (which it was), Michael's injuries, and how traumatic the whole thing was. How could they ever recover from this? And if they did, how could they beat Goliath? Watching it now in the age of photorealistic CGi and 4K screens, the toy KITT and toy truck approaching each other does look ludicrous but I'd be lying nonetheless if I said it didn't take me right back
That's how they did it back in the day,those plastic miniatures etc was and still are really gorgeous because of the era! Actually they could do a new series with special effects those days and i would love to see the OG kitt not the stupid 2008 series with new effects! I read somewhere that they had a plan to make a new movie based in the classic series,with james van but again nothing! I don't think that kitt will caught up the audiences like back in the day,a guy and his talking super car you know! 😉

Notice there is no split in the weatherstripping at the A pillar on Kitt. That indicates a hardtop Firebird. Kitt had T-Tops in many scenes of the show. I read a post on another of these clips that the crew used stickers to emulate the look of T-Tops in some shots.

That scene where Goliath wrecks KITT reminds me of the original Generation 1 Transformers episode "Masquerade", where Optimus Prime and Motormaster charged towards each other on the highway, and Motormaster took the brunt of the impact damage.

Yeah, this scene seemed like a bigger deal as a kid in the 80s. But there really wasn't much to it other than a bad decision by Michael and a poor assumption on the bad guys to believe Michael would have engaged, even if they were technically right. I think it would have stood the test of time better if there had been an actual battle that led to KITT's downfall rather than a game of chicken that was foolhardy at best.
This was such a success that the writers decided KITT needed to be destroyed more often. He got blown up in the Season 3 premiere and then dumped in acid during another season 3 episode. Then in the Season 4 premiere he was destroyed again.
They should have got Garth Knight to drive Karr too n that would have been the evil version of Knight Rider while they fighting Michael and Kitt too lol

Michael should've let Kitt notify Devin right away. And as Devin and the authorities arrived they would've found Michael and Kitt instead of those two remaining in the desert so long.

However, if you have an eamil tied to any TV service like Directv, Spectrum, UA-cam, etc., all you have to do is log into that service via NBC and you get access to all their classic shows. I have re-watch all of the Knight Rider series and is currently watching the Bionic Woman series.

Probably. Goliath reminds me a lot of Motormaster. The Stunticons had force fields that allowed them to ram obects with no damage. This episode premiered 2 years before the Stunticons were introduced in Nov 1985.
