- Four years later, Busan, South Korea, is already a zombie paradise, cut off from the rest of the world and reduced to a city of the dead. Jeong-Seok and his family board a ship bound for Japan, but there are infected people on board, and his family is killed. The ship also transfers to Hong Kong, where Jeong-Seok and his brother-in-law start a new life, but their situation is quite bad. jeong-seok now wants to improve his life. They are approached by a gangster group that wants them to get back the huge amount of money they had in Korea. jeong-seok now wants to improve his life and has to organize a team to return to Korea, where he meets the abandoned Unit 631, but they have become worse than zombies. jeong-seok also meets the woman he once refused to save on the way, and at the end of the story He escapes from here with this woman and her family

For those of you who are wondering the name of the film is Peninsula and it is based on the same universe as Train to Busan and happen a few years after the events of the first film. There is also an animated prequel that takes place right before train to Busan.

We studied this in school on how some movies did not live up to it's predecessor. It all boils down to keeping the theme of the original film.
Zombie Movies are all about survival, characters surviving the apocalyptical world that they got into. The main theme is survival.
If the sequel removed the main theme of survival and changed it into an action movie with guns and cars chasing etc.. even if it is in the same world, even if the characters are technically surviving through the harsh environment, changing the theme from survival horror into an action movie really let the movie down..
Another great example of a movie is Predator (1987) where the characters are surviving in the jungle not knowing what is trying to kill them. Survival theme, yeah it somehow a action movie but compared to the sequels that are more action packed than survival horror really changed the movie.
This does not only apply to movies but to any other genre out there, games, artists/band
Imagine listening to your favorite band with certain genre like RnB hip hop and you really like them and then the 2nd album comes out and it sounds like emo punk rock, now changing genre is not bad but it will really drive away the fans of the first album
This movie is very much like Sicario 2. Ramps up the action a lot, but is a significantly "worse" film than the first.

What would have been interesting is at the very least, put them in a trainyard, or the trainstation from the first one. Idk why they hyped it up so much as the second Busan, literally could be completely seperate and no one would care!

This has become more action which isn't bad but the first one made me cry at the end and is the first zombie movie I've watched that had script substance that was outside of the primary theme of things
Train to Bu. Part 2 is pretty good but I have a sentimental attachment to the first movie's characters....that movie is really a masterpiece
First one made me tear up at the end cause of the father turning and having flashbacks of his daughter when she was a baby. He sacrificed himself as he didn't want to infect his child.
I'm a single dad just like the protagonist of the first movie and I remembered when I held my daughter for the first time when she was a baby, she was the most precious thing to me. As a dad, that scene with the father turning and thinking of his daughter when she was a baby got me and I rarely tear up for anything.
That scene makes me ugly cry every time.

If I'm not mistaken, in the beginning news broadcasts and such they mention Busan was one of the last few places remaining but entire S-korea and at least most of N has fallen by now.

This would be interesting if there's a crossover between Train to Busan 2 and Army of the Dead. I mean think about it, they both have powerful zombies. One has a large numbers and has high speed of infection spread while the other has high numbers too except this time they had zombie animals and the "Alpha". Also that both of their cities/state has fallen due to the zombie outbreak. Except the entire Korea is infested and is declared "a RED zone" while Las Vegas is sealed off because of the zombie outbreak too except later on it gets nuked. What's also similiar between those is that both of them are mercenaries and job is to get the Money or whatever they're told to get from the RED Zones (infested Korea and Las Vegas). What do you all think about that?

According to what we see in the movie the infection hadn't spread much past south korea. Most likely just seoul and Busan. So in the rest of the world paper dollars were still usable, society around the world was still good
