- Breaking down some sound design on the Novation Summit. I tend to make one patch and then create variations on that for different articulations (Lead/Pad/Arp).
Here's we'll walk through some spacey sounds I made on the Novation Summit. :)

BACKGROUND
Hi! I'm Luke Stark and I'm creating videos here as Synth Seeker because I like to share the things I find fun or useful as I make music! Here you will find techniques, discoveries and distractions. Have fun!

This is great. I never thought to try this on mine.
Show me at the next meetup? :)
I love how you explain your sound design, there are not enough people on UA-cam that do this, mostly they end up in gear reviews or just sounds playing, but this is where the musical aspects of a synth come into view!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind feedback. :)
It’s possible to talk less I want to listen the machine and not your voice
You should check out the non "diary" videos then...but be warned. I talk a lot regardless.
Thank you, Synth Seeker, for this cosmic journey through the music universe! Crafting ethereal pads and soaring leads is artistry, like painting sound. Those arpeggios feel like starship navigation. Your video's a delightful, creative expedition on Summit's canvas, and I'm completely lost in the swirling sonic abyss!
Are all your comments so poetic? Thank you!
This poem conjures an enchanting tale, much like the lens of Asperger's. It's a phase in the grand tapestry of life where we craft intricate verses from our unique experiences. Amidst the liver cirrhosis of life, we navigate the cosmic dance of angels and demons, finding grace in the mysterious ebb and flow of existence.@@synthseeker
Very interesting demo and technical features. That synth definitely has infinite potential.
It's a very good synth for sure. :)
Nice work. I don't have Summit but I guess I could use a similar technique pairing Peak & Hydrasynth. Something for me to think about 😀
I try to speak in generalities...I bet you could do it just fine. Layer are layers...either in a single synth or stacked individual synths. If it was good enough to stack in the 80's it should work fine here. :)
Do you plan to make more structured tutorials again in the future? Don't get me wrong, this format is great, its just that Berlin School guides are rare ^^
I will, I’m just debating how much of what I’ve already said needs to be said again. Name one of my previous videos that you felt had more structure? I’ll go review it and see where that leads. Sound design or composing technique? Let me know! :)
thanks again for sharing your thoughts here, Luke, much enjoyed 👍
that Summit sounds lovely 🙂
Thanks Andy. :)
While I do not own a summit or peak, I always enjoy learning your techniques that I can experiment with on my own hardware. TY
I try to be generic when describing. Giving a recipe for a sound is fine for people with the exact synth but I’d rather speak in textures and layers then let people use their ears to decide where to go with it. Hope you make something you enjoy!
Loving this first patch you're discussing
Happy to oblige. :)
Very cool! That's some great Berlin-School-meets-Prog you've got going on there. I wonder if I can do the split arpeggio on the Polybrute.... Hmmm.... I know it's definitely in the wheelhouse of the wavestate....
You just need layers…it could be done with stacked single-layer synths too!
@@synthseeker Yup. The Polybrute can do two layers and/or morph between two patches. I'm just curious about whether the Polybrute will let me assign its arpeggiator to just one layer. And, it's something that's inherent in the wavestate.
A little fiddling and the Polybrute can do a sequence on one layer and without it affecting the other. The possible caveat is the 6-voice limitation of the instrument.
Awesome thanks for the info
Any time. :)
A great trio, smart design Luke!
The mids ARE a little sharp, no issues?
A few, but I can not go on about this issue as several comments across the Tube suggest that I am the only one noticing them. I am weird. Your sound design was lovely.
Dont buy a Summit… Don’t buy a Summit….😅
Buy TWO!
Supernova is still relevant, get one for a few hundred currency units and enjoy tons of layers.
