  • If you depend on your garden This method will make a huge difference next season. It should cost next to nothing for the tyres and covers. Electroculture was huge in the 1920s-30s. all over the world. but when Rockerfeller funded the chemical fertilizer empire after WW11 Electroculture was forgotten in favour of 'the next big thing' marketing juggernaut. Stay tuned to T.H.O.R. for Electroculture updates and visit Matt Roeske here for all the lowdown - cultivateeleva...

I like the way you are open minded as you put various ideas to test.
If you have not tried it, please plant three or four "Georgia Collard Greens."
They are high in nutrients, withstand cold and hot weather and make a meal when there's very little meat.
The secret to bringing out the flavor of Collards is real smoke flavor (Choose your source of smoke flavor.) long simmer and a bit of brown sugar. Goes well with dry beans or peas cooked soft and crisp toasted bread made with coarse milled grain. Some folks like a bit of vinegar made from fruit such as apples, pears or peaches.

Just found your channel mate! Looking good! To help that tough fibery stuff breakdown you can make your own EM-1 (Basically the Bokashi inoculant) and here's a recipe:
Note most people just use LAB & molasses for EM but this one is the real deal:
    You will need:-
    - Worm casings
    - LAB or Kombucha vinegar
    - Brewers yeast
    - Molasses
Mix all together but NOT the molasses
    (Each input is 1 part)
    - Add 20 parts water to the input, stir, then add the molasses.
    - Keep at 26 degrees C until a pH4 is reached
You can use this in a multitude of facets for homesteading.

wrapping copper wire around the garden hose, along with a power source (solar panel?) would create a magnetic field which should have an added effect on the water..this is how I keep the calcium from building in my water pipes, but I do plug this into a power source from the grid..

no steve- just mentions of them in various other vids. they really have extended my growing season during those three bad summers we had. summer just gone was back to how they should be so the covers were not used- even pests were reduced in a better growing season. Basically 2m of frost cloth stapled around a tyre with a cane in the centre. service the plants through the overlapping fold. They saved so many plants at low cost. the black tyres warm up the soil too.

TinyHouse and OffGrid Resources I like the concept of using old rubber tires to grow foods in, but I grow organic-heirloom gardens, and I have read-researched using old tires, and what I understand is that chemicals from the rubber leach into the growing medium…What are your thoughts? Very bad advice on growing in old tyres there is plenty of info available online they are full of so many chemicals and many heavy metals. Rubber is not just rubber anymore.
Never grow plants you are going to eat in old tyres. They adsorb heavy metals from the tyres which leach out over time. I was involved in cleaning up an old tyre dump site in Sydney for residential use we never got deep enough to find the end of the contamination they cancelled the residential use because of the clean-up cost blowing out. It was turned into a park.
PS: Their was never any burning of tyres on this site it was only a tyre storage dumb.
