Good video! I put in a standard Dell projector. All I could get was 17.5 feet from lens to screen. My screen is 8 tall x 9 ft wide . It would not get wide enough and when shooting video was in my eyes. I exchanged for a Sharp short throw, ceiling mount. The picture is great and not in my face making videos anymore. Video on my channel in the fix. Thanks Spike
I’m glad you got some use out this!! I’ve been having more problems with my Mevo since I started using a project. I need to try the window screen!! Thanks again!
I’m afraid I don’t have any experience with that unit. However, the calculator I demonstrate in the video should answer your questions! Thanks for the feedback!
I have just went through this process and ended up going with the Epson Home Cinema 1080 just to have mounted behind. With an off center hitting area due to the width of my sim, the swing plain moved closer to centerline so having it out front and above was not an option. Good video.
This sharing has been valuable for me. I am about to purchase a projector. What I am interested in, and I hope you can help, is what is the ideal proportion of HT to Width for the screen. I am going to set this up in my covered carport, The height will allow me to easily place an 8’ screen, maybe 8.5’ - 8’ is likely my choice. So, if you know, what would be the ideal width? I probably could go 14” or more. I like the idea of wide but want to make it best proportion. So - for an 8” screen HT, what would you suggest? Or where should I go to find out? Thank you very much.
I went 8x14 and love it. If I’m being picky, I’d make it 8.5x14 to account for the loss from the corner protection. If I had done that it would literally be perfect. Hope this helps and good luck!!

Would the BenQ TK700sti fit for my setup, I’m ordering a custom enclosure from bullseye golf, 15ft wide x 10ft tall and 7ft deep, or would I need a 16:10 projector, don’t know to much about projectors hard to make a decision. Thanks
I don't believe this is going to work. So if you match the height of the screen, you are going to end up losing 16.5" a side given that a true 16:9 setup with a 10' high screen would end up being an overall width of 17' 9" Width. So the only way to overcome this would be to create a custom resolution to basically trim off this excess aprt of the image, but I've tried to create a custom resolution for the BenQ before and have heard of others doing the same and it doesn't want to accept a custom resolution, I suspect this is a limitation in the hardware, which would make sense that they were able to offer the product at this price point. If I was in your situation, I would talk with Rick, the owner of Bullseye Golf Sims, and sees what projector might work. He sells projectors as well and has more experience with this tech than I do, plus he's a very honorably guy and won't try to upsell you just to make a quick buck. Sorry I couldn't be of more help! As a side note, if I was in your shoes, I might custom build a slightly smaller enclosure to fit a traditional 16:9 form factor, unless there's a specific reason to target the 16:10.
I was going with 15’x 10’ high cause that would fill my space better, I got a 12ft ceiling and 17ft across, and I thought it said something about golf simulators being a 16:10 format, but that’s where I don’t know to much. But getting lots of information from yo ur channel, keep it up thanks
Golf Nerd, great info....I have the TK700STI...screen size is 8 in height and 10 width. I believe you have a similar size screen. How do you determine how far to mount it from the ceiling. I also have the benQ tk700tsi, my enclosure is 8ft height / 19 wide. Trying to determine how far to have it hang down from 10 foot ceilings. Is that the number on top of the screen in the pic? The -10 for example? Not sure what that # is?
The way I interpret that number is they are suggesting it hang 10” below the top of the screen. I would assume that this would be the height to eliminate any keystone adjustment. In my case the center of the lens is hanging roughly 3” below the top of the screen and I used some keystone adjustment to square up the image. In your situation, if we use my setup as an example, the center of your lens would need to be 2’3” below your ceiling, if the ceiling height is exactly 10’. Hopefully this helps. I do have a recommendation for a mount that is pretty pricey but could be made to accomplish this amount of offset from the ceiling. Just let me know and I’ll post a link. One other point to make, in your comment you shared that the width is 19’, if that is not a typo, you can expect to have around 28” of blank space on either side of the image. Anyway, let me know if I can help further and thanks for reaching out!!!
Hi, I'm looking at the BenQ tk700sti myself for a garage setup. My screen height is 86". My enclosure is about 8'. Where I intend to mount the projector is between garage tracks, but above the door when open so that'd be about 9' or a little under. My enclosure is 4' deep. If I mount the projector higher than the enclosure top (or even by the pc recommended 9" vertical offset), will it be able to reach the top of the screen or will it clip the enclosure? I can make the enclosure shallower if needed but weighing my options before committing to a shorter throw projector ~7.5' that would mount level with the enclosure and in front of where my door opens to
Here’s my advice. Mock the setup and using a ladder and a laser pen to see how far and what angle you can get away given the max distance to fill that screen vertically. In other words shoot the top of the screen. Use the calculator I referenced and it’ll get you close to the correct distance.
Appreciate it! I did that with a laser level and think I'll be all set. Last question - my laptop is only 3070 so I imagine I wouldn't be able to run gspro in 4k. My thought is buy this projector to last me and then upgrade at a later time. Any issue with running it at 1080 on ultra?
