Anemone is such a complex character in the series, but this video points out the main reasons as to why she ended up turning on those she loved. What do you guys think? Let me know down below! :D
She was EXTREMELY close to turning out just like Albatross. The only difference was that there was someone who knew what she was suffering through and was there to stop her from making the same mistake.
You're completely right! Anemone almost repeated Albatross' mistakes, but there was one thing stopping her-- she had loved ones that cared about her. While it can be argued that Fathom cared about Albatross, he saw him as more of a mentor and thought that he was righteous all the time. He never stopped to think or notice about how he had been changing.
What a miserable life she had, being little and having to be part of adult things. They took away her childhood, she could play with other dragonet and make friends but she couldn't because her mother was afraid that something would happen to her. And having to carry animus magic, and the consequences that causes her. And what's worse is that she witnessed whirlpool's death (worse still, she had something to do with the fatally electrifying fall) and without mentioning Darkstalker. She had a very hard and traumatized life.
This is a really good analysis and it's very true. When I first read Anemone's story I kind of just thought she was a little bratty but after rereading the books and also listening to this analysis it's not all her fault she turned out this way, and she is improving. You also did really good at analyzing the character, keep up the good work! Idea/Request: You should do a Whiteout analysis. She is my favorite character and she had a very traumatizing life, she's very smart and seems to have a deeper meaning behind her unique words and after the whole mess with Clearsight and Darkstalker, all of her family and friends were gone so all she had was Thoughtful. Anyone who's reading this, have a great day!
When i read the 2nd arcs first book i rlly noticed how she used to be shy and nice but suddenly turned to a spoiled overly confident princess and at first i thought that she was just acting that way because she wasnt used to other dragons not being her servents but then i realized it likely was her powers turning her evil.
I think her killing whirlpool really worsened her behavior, even though it was accidental. I really felt bad for her at the part she did it because she just stood there in shock. Great video, btw!
Yes, she said she did that in purpose because Tsunami was in danger. (Which is true, but I don’t think anyone deserves to be killed. Except Darkstalker he’s way past the sanity line by the end of his book)
@@Sedulous32072 I think what Clearsight said at the end of the book (before putting Dark to sleep) is true. He’s vengeful and cold like his father. He once was good but was taken away because of his hunger for more power. Just because you had a terrible life (even though he had dragons to love like Clearsight, Fathom and more) doesn’t justify your actions. I feel the same way about Kestrel. She was probably abusive towards our first dragonet protagonists because they reminded her of her own dragonets, Peril and Sky, but that still doesn’t change that she could’ve taken her second chance of raising kids with love and affection instead of hate and loathing.
Already starting off good! I'm here again this time with a Starflight theory. What if Starflight hatched under all 3 moons? I think this could also make Starflight's personality change a little and maybe Starflight and Moon could even become friends. Or Starflight might even have Clearsight's type of foresight! Please respond. Thanks!
I think most of Anemone's personally came from Coral spoiling her for being the the Seawing Animus I agree with what you said. Thank you for making and opening more eyes to Queen Corals abuse like in you other video.
I had a theory of my own on Animus magic that kind of ties into yours. So basically the explanation for animus magic is that Dragons can use it as much as they want at the cost of their soul turning evil. My theory states that Animus magic actually has no subversive effects and it is simply used as an excuse for doing awful things. Albatross going insane? Animus magic! Darkstalker? Animus magic! The best example of this is Arctic. There was obvious love between him and his wife before he used all of his animus magic. By the time we see him in the books, he blames all his problems on the people around him. Alienated from neighbors? Whiteout! Icewing-Nighting war? His wife! He blames all of his problems on other people. He doesn´t do anything more evil than say, Coral, and she´s not an animus! This is also the reason why other icewings do not go insane. they regulate and think their magic through, thus insuring just and morally correct use. This also explains why Darkstalker´s soul was still evil even after the protection necklace. The explanation was a crutch and nothing more. I think this is a pretty good theory. but idk.
When I first saw Anemone in Arc two, I thought she was acting out of character. Then I reasoned time had passed, so of course she'd act different. Watching this, and other related videos, everything clicked.
True but a saying I made says "a good person is not only someone who was raised right but also someone who had no good life but still tried their best to be a good person "
I’m working on a slight rewrite where I can go in depth with character analysis, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have Anemone run away and run into Peril at the end of book 2 so they can be chaotic siblings who cope with their trauma together
Dunno if anyone's already asked this, but I wonder what would've happened if Starflight had powers. Would he be like Moon, or end up like Darkstalker? Would he hide his powers or use them openly? Since he hatched on the brightest night (three full moons), he'd probably have both future sight and mind reading, I wonder how the story would change.
I really enjoyed this analysis and I wonder what would've happened if she was never forced to be with her mother basically 24/7. Like, would she have turned out different? Also Spoilers for Book 6 if any hasn't read it yet. I've also had this idea in my head for a while: What if Moonwatcher wasn't born under 2 full moons?
These are some epic points you make here! I do agree with you, however I think it should be noted that not all responsibility should be taken off of anemone. She should still be expected to take responsibility for her actions and how she treated others. Anemone was a bit self centered to begin with, she didn't just get that way out of nowhere. If you recall, as soon as she meets tsunami, first chance she gets she trash talks everyone she knows. True, a lot of said people had not been very nice to her, but a lot of them were fine as well. Clearly this was already showing in anemone in book 2 and the increased use of animus magic and her mother continuing to be overprotective of her amplified it, as you said animus magic does (going by your theory here). TL;DR Anemone was entitled and self centered to begin with, thinking of herself as higher than anyone else, even without the factors mentioned in the video, but not to an extreme extent the way she was in the second arc.
I kind of wish, in Talons of Power, that Turtle took away Anemone's powers. Anemone even said that by herself, without animus magic, she wasn't really anyone except 'the SeaWing princess'. In fact, she wasn't even that anymore. She was ' *a* SeaWing princess', since Tsunami returned and Auklet hatched, there were two other alive princesses. Honestly, I think Anemone would make a good council member, maybe in the treasury? Or she could be like Blaze, happy with treasure all day and not worrying about the kingdom. Tsunami can be queen and do all that stuff. Edit: I noticed a mistake you made in the video. You said she donated some of her treasure to build *Possibility* when it was actually Sanctuary.
I really LOVE your videos they're so Based will you ever do something related to starflight? maybe a What If where he was born under the three moons instead of in the cave?
i wonder is analizing a charters a fan charter from a fanfic be the same as doing one a actual charter to me analizing a charter is analizing a charters canon or not
Is it just me but I think Anemone in talons of power had the same personality as orca even though we don't see much orca in the lost heir. They were both eager for the throne. Liked queen coral at first then hated her. As well they both had animus magic.( If head canons part 2 comes out I know what i'm doing)

I love character analyses, because it makes me understand characters and what they went through a lot better then just reading about actions in a book. But I also feel like sometimes the people making the analysis forget that these creatures arnt human. Sure they can speak, think, and logicalise like humans but theres one big difference. Morals. Dragon morals and interaction is different from most humans. Killing, fighting, and unhealthy relationships are normal in the dragon world (that dorsnt make any of the stuff right but still, you need to take it into consideration.) But I do see some of this changing in the newer arc. I hope the dragon world becomes a better place for all the dragonets.

@@Dogloverlikesdoge yeah Fathom barely had any idea that his grandfather was suffering. He was in no position to be able to help him.

Whirlpool's death was when she truly started to descend into madness

Ok, for a what if, you could do, what if Thorn got the letter from Stonemover?

Can you make a character analysis for Flame? He has issues and I feel bad for him
