Just came across this video. I cannot tell you how much I LOVED it! I felt I was transported away to a wonderful botanical garden oasis!! Which it IS! Absolutely jaw dropping gorgeous! Loved all the plants, fountains, palms, stones, .......just everything! That would be my happy place that's for sure! I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada in a Zone 5A......so the closest I've ever gotten to tropical gardening is on my patio with a few Magesty Palms and a couple other tropicals that are strictly grown here as summer specimens only. I'm excited because all my tulips, daffodils and other Spring bulbs are up a few inches! No blooms for several weeks yet though. NO comparison to your amazing gardens! Thank you for 36 minutes of escape to a tropical paradise! I will definitely watch your other video's! I have subscribed. 😊~~M~~

Aw, Thank you, Tamara. Labs are the best, aren't they? She's doing well as my assistant in the garden. Well, maybe not well, but she’s not tripping me or digging anymore, so I'll take the win, lol. Yes, I'm thinking of doing a backyard update, and there are many shade favorites in that space. I hope it helps with something to add to yours.

I love my Monstera , Farfugium , & spider Lilly! I considering planting some spindle palms. What palms do you like for zone 9b ? Do you know of any good freeze protection for palms?
I have bottle palms we wrapped with heat tape and rockwool when it froze this year and they did great but when they get big that won’t be an option.

Your new side yard looks amazing!!! Chuck did a great job with the fence/gate. Can't wait to see the additions. But what happened to the Auntie Lu's?? One of my favorites for a pop of color. Reworking your fountain into the front pond and the sculpture as a faux stepping stone is so cool. Great ideas for repurposing. Isn't it interesting that gardener's think they have everything down so perfect, and then BOOM all of a sudden an idea pops in our head and we're off to the races again. Thanks for sharing.

I just love your living wall. I too made smaller ones for succulents with & without the bags that didn’t last long and were a mess. I’m now trying to figure out a semi-home-made frame 6’x6’ or 8’x8’ that I could use in my lanai, preferably on wheels. Thank you for including the grid & plant pots in your videos! ❤

You really have some neat plants down where you're at they are so pretty I just love them how many zone 6B and yeah we are beautiful plants up here too and I think you guys can't go down there probably but but yeah it's always nice to see other people's plants and they're so luscious and beautiful okay talk to you later I have 30 gardens at memorial Park in New Kensington PA and I've been doing it for about 20 years now it's just for people to walk through and enjoy it so talk to you later thank you bye

I love your transformation of your side yard. I have followed you for a couple of years and truly love your style. I happen to take the Stuart secret garden tour last weekend and my favorite garden just happens to be one that you designed. I did not realize it at the time but just saw the short videos and almost fell off my chair. It was a dream yard and everyone spent more time just taking in all there was to see it was truly magical. Too bad you don't go south to West Palm Beach where I am. Thankyou for your videos .
Hello Bailey, While that garden is totally my style, I wish I had the opportunity to design it, but I didn't. I wanted to share the beautiful display of pots and orchids used in that home with this wonderful garden community. I thought for sure the ones who didn't take the tour would love to see it, too. I have one scheduled to go out today, too, of a few other angles. I agree; it's a beautiful setting.

Absolutely love the living wall. I'm going to build one, but for the wire I have an old cattle-panel (Tractor Supply). They are heavy duty and much cheaper, but maybe difficult for some to transport. I love all your landscapes. Thanks

Great work on the wall. I have a perfect spot for one on my back deck. I’m thinking of using cattle panels which are cheap for my grid and your idea for plastic planters and put mist water system in will be better than the other walk methods you mentioned I’ve also seen. I love the squirrels next ferns & love Bromeliads too

Do you leave your fountains on all the time? And if so (or even if you don’t), how often do you add water? How do you know when to add water?
You will get a lot of evaporation so you can add water weekly to be proactive or add a float valve connected to you sprinkler system
Yes, Aqua man is right a float valve is great, I currently have a bubbler that goes on every time my irrigation system goes on so it adds water to each of my water features three times a week and that keeps them topped off. I currently have them on all of the time however its easy to add a timer that shuts off at night. I may do that in the future. Lol considering i keep adding water everywhere.

Yes its called triple Basalt columns an Aquascapes product, you can buy from them directly but think amazon sells it too so shipping is less or free depending where you are.

I am currently doing the narrow side bed 4’x40’ on the Gulf Coast- morning sun, afternoon house shadow shade until June/Sept (then full sun all day). I am trying to incorporate your layering tips and emulate your tropical styles. My question is: I have two windows (needing access for hurricane shutter installations), wall mounted tankless gas water heater, irrigation controls, and tv box requiring access that take up 10’ length of the 40’. Any suggestions for plants in front of windows or wall mounted controls to allow access but disguise within a 4’ width? True Gardener ❤❤❤ Been going through many of your video collection.
Oh Maureen those are some tough challenges. My meter, internet and hose bib is on that wall just as you walk around the corner of my house so I had similar problems. I ended up using the gate and large pot to disguise the area and hid the ugly bathroom window with living wall. I wish I had better suggestions for your tough area. All I can say when space is a challenge sometimes the best we can do is distract the eye by making a more open section within that same area a bit of a show stopper. Sometimes layer hanging pots along the house wall or he silly plant one area leaving the troubled section a rock grouping or something clean and simple your eye glides over. Wishing you the best of luck on you project.

At the 20:03 mark there is a small bright fan chartreuse/bright limey green/yellow palm looking plant between the obi island palm and the palm (areca?)...sorry I wish I could show a photo...I would like to know what that is... please and thank you. I hope I am looking at the right one; the ground cover plant, light, bright green, is called Coral sedum, and the little palm tree below with giant fronds is called Licuala Palm. Shade-loving palm that's one of my favs. I hope I got that right.
