If I may provide some critical analysis that may prove helpful for your next video or your next ambitious project.... I know the video was for $2,000. It is such a great sleeping video or relax video. This is only an informational post to save some people from needing to rebuild a shelter after 5-20 years. The dirt that is up against the tarp will disintegrate and deteriorate the tarp because of the biom of organisms within the soil. A different material will work better to protect against water: landfill tarp that they use at trash sites, or torchdown roofing (asphalt layers that can be melted together with granulated covering (embedded rocks to cover the asphalt). Also, it is nice that they built it in the side of a hill, irrigation (sideways waterflow) will be moving down the hill and you can also create a french drain that is basically a 3-sided ditch straight down around the walls to prevent sideways water flow. This sideways water flow happens to seep in especially after the tarp disintegrates from the molecular disintegration caused by the natural enzymes in the dirt. Next you can put gravel around any wood so that the dirt that is touching the wood will not rot it within a few years or a decade. The underground house is nice though, because you do not pay for siding, painting, insulation for heat...also, that is a massive wasp at 3 hours and 24 minutes.

Hi Alex and Sergey. I have a question that I'm always curious about, and never see it addressed. Are you building these places on land that you and your family own??? As always Alex, you never cease to amaze me. I love your work, and having Sergey there to help was awesome. Everything you do, is incredible. Just the sheer amount of soil, and trees you moves, is truly astounding. It's just like the first settlers that came to America from the European continent, and had to build everything by hand, it's a lost art, and one you are keeping alive The Alaskans in remote areas still utilize those skills, but few others unless they build off grid. You should be VERY PROUD of what you and Sergey accomplished, and I know I'd be honored to have a place you built. My best to both of you and your families.
He either has permission or paid land. You can not build such a house not having any business with the land owner. If he doesn't respond, I was right either way.
@@roselovett8350 Yes, unused lands do not require any paperwork, go into the wilderness and build up. The main thing is to observe fire safety and do not cut down live trees. Well, of course, do not trash.
That’s a wonderful dacha! So much work moving tons of lumber and soil! Your muscles come from hard labor, not from drugs and machines. I’d love to spend time there. And the food you cook brings back fond memories of the beautiful vegetables. Oчень вкусный!

Hello Alex and Sergey, I find your videos so awe inspiring and satisfying. It's wonderful to see such competency and skill, and downright hard work (or Hard Yakka! as we say here in Australia) produce such beautifully and lovingly crafted shelters (homes). I also love to see the drone pics of the nature and surrounds....and the delicious food you cook...yummy! All that digging and sawing and chopping and carrying....you need a lot of protein and carbs to get you through right? ;) I take a great deal of comfort watching you bring it all together, you are doing all the hard work, while I sit in my armchair and relax while I watch...ah!...I wish I had the physical ability to do what you do! Keep the vids coming :)
Amazing ! You guys have worked like pack mules and have created a thing of beauty for years to come...I really enjoyed your video as I too love the outdoors and have a sense of adventure...I'd love to spend some time in your cabin, it's fantastic and so warm ...Now to make some chairs but I don't see a problem there for you 😉👍💯♥️
So happy i watched basically the entire important parts. This female knows how to do the important parts now in my head forever! Thank you for the DETAILED video and camera angles. AWESOME HARD WORK!
I'm new to this side of youtube, why burn the bottom half of the logs? my assumption is that its to keep them from rotting in the ground from moisture and bugs. is that right?
Yes, No drainage, no waterproofing. That green tarp is in no way made for that and will rot to nothing in one year. Whole structure will fail and be unlivable from rot, mold, collapse and flooding.
Yes, the chared bit doesn't rot the same as regular wood and keeps away mold and bugs. Its why they do some wood siding like that. Bugs hate it and lasts longer then put tung oil on the wood
That soil being dug fascinates me. Not much roots and it seems very rock-free so far. Seems easy to dig in. I would love to have soil like that in my yard. Im surprised you were able to find a piece of land with a clear space. I like that you are digging into the side of the hill. Do you study the land before building? PS by roots i mean tree roots.
I too noted how good the soil looked to work with....and grow in. It looked like good quality friable loam....especially just under the surface.....then quite sandy looking....and then maybe more like clay deeper down? It makes for much more manageable digging :)
@@roselovett8350 not too much clay though. In my backyard I got clay under about 2 inches of dark soil and lately it is like the dark soil is gone. I grew some vegetables for a couple of years and now nothing will grow normally. Everything pops up, grows 3 inches and then stops. And with the drought the clay has gotten rock hard no matter how much I water. Working on making some compost but my back only lets me do a certain amount of work before I have to stop. My yard needs organic material badly. I'm so jealous for that lovely soil this man was digging.
I feel for you Susan as I too live amongst heavy clay and very little by way of good topsoil. I am getting older and I live on a slope....and have to carry in fresh soil and compost etc for gardening. I think that's one of the reasons why I love these videos so much....I live vicariously through them ha!....wishing I still had all that strength and energy ;)@@susanfarley1332
This is Russia, such soil is almost all over the territory of the European part of Russia. The Germans in the Second World War took the land out of the USSR in echelons.
I noticed people get into a thought that logs that are large are needed to build a shelter, like that of a log cabin house, but that large of a log is definitely not needed, it just requires much more work from you to build like that, remember a house is framed with just 2X4 wood, and that is even spaced 16 inches apart from one another, so if a house can stand for years with just 2X4 timber, then those massive logs your building with are definitely over kill for your structure, think about it, if you could build your whole structure with logs only 4" round, how much quicker, you could build it, and with far less effort. 🤠👍
Love this idea. Had to skip along a bit couldnt work out how to speed it up, thought it was 4minutes, not 4hrs lol. Id have to hire the labour, but I'd love this. I'd have my main house above ground. & this as my hidey hole lol
This, to me, is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen on YT. I've seen hundreds of videos of similar concepts, but this one, hands down is easily the most adept, and well put together version of this type of build. Truly. Well done. I absolutely cannot wait to see what comes next. Ever since I was a child I've wanted to have an underground house similar to this, and you two, doing it all by hand is very inspiring. So thank you for that. I've gotta ask though; where in the world are you located where you can just.. Dig a 10ft hole, and not hit a single rock the entire time? I live in Tennessee (U.S), and I couldn't dig down further than 6 inches without hitting giant rocks. (I've tried to dig without machinery several times, damn near impossible) Also, all those incredibly long, straight, perfect trees all over the place really pulls this whole thing together. This is like, literally my dream home, location, and final product all in one video. I've seen a few comments of the other man's name being Sergey, so I'm assuming somewhere in Russia. I cannot express to you, how deeply this struck a chord with me, and how bad I'm considering moving to where ever you guys are to live out the rest of my days after building something similar. I think the both of you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. This truly is a beautiful thing you've done here, and I hope you get all the recognition you both deserve for the effort to bring this to the world, for free. 11/10 video, guys. Thank you again.

Great job Alex and Sergey , what an amazing house it's going to be. It's good to see young men work hard to create their own place not many know how these days . 👏❤👏
I never thought i would be envious over dirt, but the soil where i live is unbelievably rocky. I know that digging that couldn't have been easy but i don't even want to think about how miserable that would be to dig where i live.
Always be sure to do your digging out when the earth is pushing away.. on the waxing moon..put posts in the ground on the waning moon when the soil is pulling in.
@emariaenterprises it's honestly not a bad idea. Early houses, at least where i live, built the exterior footprint of their homes almost entirely from the stone taken from inside of said footprint.

You should be VERY PROUD of what you and Sergey accomplished, and I know I'd be honored to have a place you built.
My best to both of you and your families.
He either has permission or paid land. You can not build such a house not having any business with the land owner. If he doesn't respond, I was right either way.
@@stefan.5987 In Russia there is ALOT of unclaimed land and if he is really far out in the woods nobody really cares what you do there
I too have wondered the same thing about the land....can people just go and build shelters freely like that there? How wonderful if so.
@@roselovett8350 Yes, unused lands do not require any paperwork, go into the wilderness and build up. The main thing is to observe fire safety and do not cut down live trees. Well, of course, do not trash.
I was all for this until I saw the apple watch and then back hoe tracks in the soil. 😂
Well done, Alex! Very, very well done!
That’s a wonderful dacha! So much work moving tons of lumber and soil! Your muscles come from hard labor, not from drugs and machines. I’d love to spend time there. And the food you cook brings back fond memories of the beautiful vegetables. Oчень вкусный!
One of the best videos in the whole UA-cam and one of the best channel in the whole UA-cam thank you for your time and effort this was amazing I've never seen anything this long besides yours health and happiness to you

The ultimate ASMR experience! First video I have watched on your channrl
Hello! Thank you friend
Amazing ! You guys have worked like pack mules and have created a thing of beauty for years to come...I really enjoyed your video as I too love the outdoors and have a sense of adventure...I'd love to spend some time in your cabin, it's fantastic and so warm ...Now to make some chairs but I don't see a problem there for you 😉👍💯♥️
Hi Mr Alex
amazing video i cant wait for 2 part pls send fast as possible tnx
I got cozy on the sofa, smoked about an 8th of cannabis and took notes throughout your 4 hour video!
Nice work with this one. 👏
So happy i watched basically the entire important parts. This female knows how to do the important parts now in my head forever! Thank you for the DETAILED video and camera angles. AWESOME HARD WORK!

I'm new to this side of youtube, why burn the bottom half of the logs? my assumption is that its to keep them from rotting in the ground from moisture and bugs. is that right?
yes
Similar to telephone poles being treated with Creosote.
Yes it's almost like treated lumber

Its crazy soil its a forest just suddenly grew on top of a dessert
I can't believe what I'm seeing, this guy is amazing! I wish I had 1/2 the talent you have!
In cold climates I think you just want the big logs to keep the weather out, but two layers of logs would probably be just as good.
What about the rain in massive down pores would it not get flooded?
Love this idea. Had to skip along a bit couldnt work out how to speed it up, thought it was 4minutes, not 4hrs lol.
Id have to hire the labour, but I'd love this. I'd have my main house above ground. & this as my hidey hole lol
Cool @alex
thanks
Das ist absolut genial! Meinen größten Respekt für das was ihr erschaffen habt. Tolle Inspiration!

I never thought i would be envious over dirt, but the soil where i live is unbelievably rocky. I know that digging that couldn't have been easy but i don't even want to think about how miserable that would be to dig where i live.
Me too. Pick axes to break it, wheel barrow to load it in... Maybe I can build retaining walls with the stone I break out... I have a steep slope.
Gabion retaining walls.... That could work. It would make good use of the stone I chip away and help me make someplace more level for parking on.
El mejor y más completo proyecto 👏👏👏
