I use the 23L bag as my only bag when travelling for work. I love it! very comfortable, and fits most "personal item" airline sizes if you don't over-stuff it.
Hi @PackingLess, The 32L version has little pockets on either side to tuck in the waist strap if it is not being used. The straps can be completely hidden when stuffed in the pockets.
I did search it intentionally if there’s a slot to hide the buckles, but not until I saw your comment! That makes me love this backpack even more now, thanks a lot!
Thanks for a very precise review. Keep up the good work. Just for an update on current version that they selling here I Thailand, after I watched your review, I went to my nearest Decathlon and bought 23L one. But I found out later that they cut some nice features in current version to keep the cost down. 1) No hidden side pocket behind water bottle sleeve. 2) No zipper pocket in the front pocket, just the mesh pocket and key loop no zipper pocket behind. 3) No inside side pocket (where you can put a powerbank in, hence no hole for the charger cable. I'm quite disappointed about that because the first 2 are what I would love to have. Anyway, I think it would serve me well during my Japan trip in the next few months.
Hey yes I think I read somewhere recently they changed it, unfortunately theres no way to update the video but I might include it somewhere in the pinned comment that they have now changed the design a bit. I wonder why, maybe its cheaper to produce without the extra features?
Hey! I'm torn between the rollup or the regular version. My only concern is that the rollup is a bit more flimsy - do you think that to be true? I'm thinking about it as a "personal item" on airlines...
Amazing review, particularly when you managed to keep juggling between the two bags within the camera shot and showed everything for us. Might grab the smaller one for the wifey!
great review, I appreciate that you use metric too, thanks man. I think I'll go for the 23L, I have a short trip planned next week and my backpack (North Face Recon) is definitely bigger than the personal item size for RyanAir. I have used it as such but I also had bought the 2nd cabin bag option so maybe they didn't care that much those times. Plus it will "force" me to pack lightly, it should be enough for a 7 day trip, right?
Thanks glad to help. In terms of packing enough, I have previously travelled months on a 20L backpack so I think the 23L would be more than enough but it does require taking versatile clothes, layering warmer clothes and being prepared to wash clothes while travelling, whether in a dry bag or in the sink.
I've buy the 23 L version, the blue one. I like how they design the compartement, especially with the side pocket that fits water bottle and keep it safely. but I still thinking how strong this bag is, because there's no specification for the maximum load (kgs). and the strap doesn't comes in bartack sewing, so I assumed it will be broken easily if we carry overweight things...
I don't like how the smaller front pocket zippers extend all the way to bottom. too easy to lose something if zippers aren't fully closed. should have had them stop about 3 inches from the bottom.
The 23L is technically too big for Ryanairs personal item rule, but it will likely fit if you squish it in. I'm most satisfied with my 20L Inateck. It fits like a glove with all airlines as a personal item.

Can you review also the 23 liters rolltop? They clam it can fit up to 27 liters but the external size are the same. I can’t how they can do it since this is already cubic. Can’t decide what to buy for weekend travel.
The Ozuko is heavier and perhaps has more thick and durable materials. But I prefer this one because I prefer a lighter weight bag and this one still does feel well made and has warranty from Decathlon
Hello!) I am considering a 23-liter version as a backpack for every day. I carry a laptop, a keyboard, headphones, a charger, some miscellaneous stationery, a thermos (0.5-0.7 liters), a change of clothes for the day. I often go shopping. Will such a backpack withstand a daily load of 6-8 kg. How durable is it?
Absolutely love all the compartments and tricks this bag has. I'm only worried about the water bottle holder because its closed at the top it restricts the height of the bottle you can carry. Could you carry a 1l water bottle in the 23l pockets?
Hey great question, I think it depends on the bottle, its a very stretchy material so it could stretch to accomodate a thick 1L bottle I think, but Id go and try it in store first if you can
Yes I saw that one online (and wanted to review it) but unfortunately it wasnt (and still is not) available to purchase here in the Australian Decathlon store :(
Affordable price & great warranty that's a plus point. Like what u said, need grab handle. I second that but i would also like to add for attachment straps & load adjuster. Believe me when i tested this with its full capacity, it is quite heavy & the bulkiness makes me look like a ninja turtle. If only there is strap to make the bag more compact i think that is better.
Great review. I'm eyeing the 32L but I'm wondering if the bag looks sloppy when not fully packed to the top i.e. when used as a daily carry. I don't see a fastener to make it compact. Thank you.
Depends on the airline, some allow a fair amount of leeway in their published sizes, but even the 23L is a hair too big to fit the official sizes, so the 32L would be really pushing it. Probably fine on a full featured airline, but the budget ones that actually make you measure will stop you every single time with the 32, and the 23 will probably depend how you pack it.
@@Green__one "under the seat" carry on baggage for most low-cost European airlines need to be 40x25x20 max (unless you pay for the 2° cabin luggage). I would say that without a real, padded and large waist belt to offload the weight off the the shoulders, i any backpack would be uncomfortable to be carried after some time. I tried this one at the store with 6kg, and it was so, for me.

I assume those additional 5l and bottom compartments will compensate for these items. I', concerned with the stability of the backpack. Will it jump around while I run, straps get loose hurt my back, etc. Anyone with an answer or advice I would be truly grateful if you could share with me including recommendation of r a backpack you found to be perfect for my needs. Good question, Quechua is a brand created by Decathlon, heres more info from the wiki: Quechua is the trademarked French brand for the hiking and camping apparel and equipment marketed mostly by French company Decathlon,[2] the largest sporting goods retailer in the world[3] with over 1647 stores in nearly 1000 cities in 57 countries and regions (January 2020).[4] Created as a brand in 1997 in Domancy, France, by a group of nine Decathlon employees, the group launched its first products in the spring of 1998 in all Decathlon stores, geared toward hikers and campers.[5] The brand's design center is in Sallanches, near Mont-Blanc. Its name derives from the indigenous Quechua people of the Andes and their language.
Thanks for this quick comparison, it helped me to decide with one to choose. You mentioned that black one better fits your back, but when I see how big it looks I believe it would be to large for me for daily usage.
Yeah 32L (black one) would be a bit big for a daily bag, they also have a 16L version (which isnt available in Australia so I havent tried it yet) but that would be a better daily size. There is also a 23L (blue one) roll top version which you can adjust how compressed it is, could also be a good option.
How useful are the waist straps? Is there a frame such that the waist straps help with weight distribution? I have a bad upper back so hip belts are important
I tried this bag (the 32 L) at the shop, loading it with 6 kg of the "test load" decathlon provides near the backpack shelves. I have been using a fantastic 30 L Decathlon hiking backpack every day for the past 15 years, from hiking to cycling to commuting, and grocery shopping. The waist belt helped A LOT to carry the load. Now it is finally broken, so I'm shopping for something similar. I could not find anything as good and versatile as my former one. This one is really well made, but the the waist belt is more to stabilize the bag from moving around than to help with the load. If this bag is fully loaded, it will all be on your shoulders and back.
