A clip to an upcoming fanedit where I have combined Man of Steel and BVS into one, 2 hour and 20 min, film. Lots of changes have been made to where it's a completely different film, including every shot being color graded, as well as adding in Christopher Nolan's score throughout his Batman trilogy. I have also included scores from the original films, as well as some music from Superman Returns.
I have rearranged certain scenes to fit the new narrative, and have taken out a lot of subplots. I decided to name the film simply Dawn of Justice, and focus mainly on telling a Superman story, with Batman as a supporting character.
Martha scene has been changed to show more of Bruce's downfall, and to have him realize he has been the villain the entire time. I also added in a few glimpses of Clark's mother and had Lex in Clark's head saying "Martha, Martha, Martha" to explain why he comes out and says "You're letting him kill Martha" the way he does.
I added in some additional dialogue during this sequence to further show Bruce's downfall, and to bring him back to being the Batman we all love.
PLEASE do NOT watch if you do not own the original works of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Support the artists who work hard to make these movies. For more information, please go to www.fanedit.org - Комедії
I thought the Martha moment was actually smart, this moment salvages what works about it and cuts what doesn't.
The dark knight score works so well with this scene, and I love the fact you cut the “it’s his mother’s name” part, and kept it as an internal struggle.
This video proves to me that DC's filming style should be a "show don't tell" type of film. It'd work.
This seem like tell than show to me.
@@jasontodd6779 maybe cause you're a moron
@@vlad.luciano well, that rude😶
Ok, and here I was going "I can't figure out how to salvage this scene" and here you've done it. Amazing work, one editor to another.
Nate Downes thanks Nate! I made some additional changes with the final edit, which you can watch the entire fan edit film with the link in the description. I appreciate your comment!
This is fantastic! It's what I've been saying all along. The original Martha scene would have worked if this Batman wasn't a casual killer and this whole Superman predicament had pushed him over the edge, but he then realized at this moment he became a villain. I believe the film was trying to go for that but it felt half assed and came off too vague. The film just expects the people who are balls deep in comics and overthink things to explain it's plotholes. But this is much more clear and a great example of "show don't tell" Great job man! Your editing skills are exceptional.
I appreciate your response! That's exactly what I was going for with this edit, and thank you for your positive remarks! Thanks for watching!
FireMerk Studios No problem. Keep up the great work. Would love to see your whole edit of the film
I do too! Maybe fuse parts of Man of Steel, Dawn Of Justice, and Wonder Woman together into a superior "Dawn Of Justice cut" that preludes Justice League! Show; don't tell.
Except that is the point of the movie already. It's stated he wasn't like this before the Black Zero event. After the superman arrived his feelings of powerlessness led to a new rage in him.
Alfred: "New Rules?"
Bruce: "We're criminals, Alfred. We've always been criminals. Nothing's changed."
Alfred: "Oh yes it has, sir. Everything's changed."
*brings up footage of superman*
Alfred: "Men fall from the sky. The gods hurl thunderbolts, innocents die. That's how it starts: The fever...the rage...that turns good men cruel."
This movie has Batman's redemption arc. This edit spoonfeeds it for people who didn't understand that.
Christian Young lol the entire movie is literally showing you that. I think you just need “tell don’t show” to see it.
As a person who loves BvS (UE of course), this scene edit is just amazing
Thanks so much!
Perfect. The key to this scene in the actual film is that interaction earlier in the piece with Alfred. The voiceover of that interaction in this scene is absolutely crucial. The Martha thing triggers a flashback and makes Bruce realise he's become so consumed with fear and rage that he's forgotten why he became Batman to begin with, a theme which is also explored thoroughly throughout the film.
Fantastic comment and analysis. The voiceover does work within this sequence, so I appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching! Enjoy your weekend
That was infinitely better.
I don't think anyone on earth would mind if they carried Bales theme over to Affleck
BATJAX But when Danny Elfman uses his Batman theme everyone loses their minds!
@DocDoomClassic 52 Who is we? Everyone hated it.
It’s just better
this seven minute clip was better than the whole movie lol
i think what made man of steel a good movie and bvs a bad one, was nolan
1:00 its a GENIUS idea to show the audience the tombstone that says "martha wayne". None of the crappy batman yelling 'WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!?!?!?'. It tells you all you need to know rather than shove it in your face
Thanks for catching that, and glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching and for the comment :)
Just shows that Zack Snyder has good ideas but he can often get carried away by either delivering them a in a too heavy handed and or clunky way like the original Martha scene or he can immediately ruin what the scene was meant to do. The Martha scene is meant to bring Batman back to who he was yet right after, he goes out and goes Terminator on a couple of thugs in trucks. This edit made the scene into perfection
The dark knight rises Is One of my favorite movies, great job!
I thought it was fine how it was, but this is a nice tribute type edit. Very very nice job.
Great edit. Loved the martha scene, I feel it's severely misunderstood.
This edit is fantastic, actually seriously improves the scene
I really appreciate hearing that.
you even cut the “batman blasting cars” part, you are awesome
thanks for watching!
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t use more flashbacks like this. The scene in the actual movie was so awkward this was actually dramatic
Thanks so much for watching and enjoying the video. I appreciate the comment!
😂
What great use of Hans Zimmer's material here...can't wait for more! Excellent work
Thanks so much!
I like this especially the memory flash Clark has bc he thought he was dying nicely done
I made an Edited version of Batman V Superman using this clip instead of the original. MUCH BETTER.
Snot Nuf TELL ME HOW
LegoBotVideos i edit movies for myself using Vegas Movie Maker. literally just cut rearrange and insert edits like this beauty of an edit.
Oh thx. Cus I use my phone a lot I knew it required some sort of movie video editor like imovie and can't seem to record anything on my phone on screen
LegoBotVideos do you own the film on DVD/Blu-Ray there is software that you can use on your pc called make mkv it will rip the entire movie
Cole Schubert thx rip as in edit or rip as in destroy
Ok this is so much better then the actual scene
Wow!! Thanks WhatCulture for bringing me here. Hope your work gets wider recognition
Oh wow, WhatCulture brought you to this video? That’s fantastic to hear! Thanks so much for taking the time to check out the video.
This is actually really awesome. Good job
This is powerful as hell! Incredible job.
Gives the scene so much credibility
Astoundingly better. Bravo!
I hate when people say "the scene is good, you are just an idiot lmao". The duty of a director is to express an idea through the movie, so if most people doesn't "understand" a scene, let me explain something to you: it isn't well written. That's hpw it works, if you don't express an idea correctly, the concept behind it won't be received. It wasn't fault of anyone that the scene was made into a meme, that just happens when you express yourself incorrectly. This scene proves how the same idea, the same scene, the same actors, the same dialogues, the same everything but with GOOD execution gets the correct result.
Beautiful edit 👏
Well said, and thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Well done
This scene is so much better than the original. Thanks to you this scene now feels like the Dark Knight Returned. How quickly they became friends still feels a little awkward but not nearly as bad as in the original movie. From the bottom of my heart thank you my friend.
Glad you enjoyed! I sincerely appreciate you watching :)
@@FireMerkStudios I don't see it as them becoming friends so much as bruce realizing he had fucked up hard, louis bringing their attention to a wider issue, and both being adult enough to realize they can hash their problems out later.
I watch this weekly.
Thanks so much for watching!
This, THIS is exactly how I'd have done this entire sequence. The only real things I would've changed would've been readding the box throwing part but using the theatre version (the one where blood doesn't come out of the guys head, i.e. it just uses enough force to KO him) and maybe used different parts of Nolan's score in the fight scene ("Like A Dog Chasing Cars" and "Introduce A Little Anarchy" spring to mind). Aside from that, you've went and changed my favourite live action Batman so far (but not the most perfect it could've been) into the fucking Arkham/Comic Batman brought to life. Absolutely superb, I'm ecstatic to see the full fan edit now!
Hey, thanks for watching! FanEdit is coming out sometime in October. Haven't found a perfect date, but will let everyone know shortly. I'll fight to keep on UA-cam for as long as I can once it's up, so everyone can check it out. I thought about using that clip that you mentioned as well, but at the time of this edit, I only had the Ultimate Cut edition. I've updated this scene, and it's much better. I think you're going to enjoy this.
Glad to hear it! I look forward to it!
Although i liked the scene and thought there was no problem this edit does improve on it👍
Great work!!! Maybe the haters will finally understand this scene.
It's actually really good man!
You could still make a few improvements but still. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I've been working on the scene since I uploaded this, and it's much better. Thanks for watching!
+FireMerk Studios I'm looking forward to seeing it! 😊
+Ibrahim Tastekin should have this out sometime in October! Stay tuned for an actual date soon. Thanks again!
that was magic!
Didn’t know how much I’d love this till I rewatched it multiple times! #RestoretheSnyderVerse FOR MORE! I love Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice & the original soundtrack however Batman is my favorite comic book character of all time…take that for what you will the Lex verse in this is DC Comics’ GREATNESS⁉️🔥
Brilliant! I think a new edit with the song "A Ideal of Hope" of the Man of Steel soundtrack would be so much better. It fit perfect with this scene :)
I'll test it out and see what it looks like! Thanks for the feedback! Also, thanks for watching
Much better
Thanks for watching! I appreciate it, and thanks so much for the comment.
Have Christian Bale’s Batman here and you’re golden
I think the XL music would have worked until this scene, and then having Batman transition back to the Nolan music would have worked really well.
To my mind, Batman could have been the same Batman as in the Dark Knight Trilogy.
Good job.
For the confused. It's sad to have so much dialogue there for people to like it. I prefer how quiet it got as he thought about it all.
Very well done, this was a very flawed movie but it's good to see that some intelligent editing can do.
What makes it flawed that u dont know what its like to be a superhero to have to gain the trust in the world whats flawed is what u said
This original scene is right were it needs to be
The only snyder vault and corrected by die hard fans
This is better than what we got in the actual movie but it still doesn’t really work that well. It would’ve completely worked if this Batman had never killed before and Superman was about to be Batman’s first ever kill. And just before he’s about to cross that line and become a killer like Joe Chill, it’s Superman who snaps him out of his rage. Good edit though!
excellent edit, i think the concept behind the scene in the og was great they just executed it not that perfect
amazing edit, you could teach zack alot, question what tracks from the dark knight are specifically used
Thanks for watching! I'm at work at the moment, but I'll comment again and let you know ASAP!
3 yrs later and he never commented again lol
When I think of ways to fix the “Martha” scene, one way comes to my mind every time. So at the beginning instead of seeing Bruce’s parents killed AGAIN, we see Batman chained up, as the Joker is beating Jason in front of him. This pushing him down the dark path he’s gone on in the film. And so when he’s holding the Kryptonite spear, ready to kill Superman, he sees the spear become a crowbar, covered in blood, he looks down to see Jason, he realizes what that he’s become, and so he throws it away, and then when he saves Martha, he doesn’t just KILL EVERYONE. That’s just my stupid thought, but I like it
noice
Removed Batman flying around and blowing up/killing all the thugs outside the warehouse, but left in the shot at 5:03 where he spins around, shooting them. This Batman still kills people, just not as many.
yrulaughing418 to be fair, only reason I left that in there was because his intention was for them to have to move around and cause panic among the criminals, and to also scatter them around. And no one died, so it was left in.
Nolan's Batman killed people too idiot
How did you take out the music and keep the vocals?? I'm trying to do that but I have no idea how. I know to get vocals out but how to I extract the music and keep the voices?
Whoa, so sorry for the super late response. That's my bad. I use Adobe Audition and extract all the audio channels and edit with the center channel. The center channel usually just has the dialogue and sound effects, with very little music. Very easy.
Hi, can you explain it a little more? I'm sorry, i've been trying to do the same for months and its really hard to get everything to sound good. How do you extract all the audio channels? Like what do you mean by that?
Sure, no problem. So when you open up Audition, you'll drag in the entire audio from the file. You'll then right click on that audio file within Audition, and click "Extract Audio Channels" Audition will then extract each audio file. Make sure the audio file is 6 channels (5.1 Surround). There, you'll be able to see the Center channel. Grab that audio file, and double click on it. Now you can go to file and export it into a .WAV file. Then, you can add it into your editing timeline with the original audio and begin editing. You can get rid of the original if you'd like, and add in your own score, sound effects, etc.
hmm it says extract channels to mono files. Is that right?
Yes sir!
This was absolutely fantastic! Quick question. I'm an editor myself and do a couple of fan edits just in my spare time but one skill I've never been able to find out how to do is how to separate the movie dialogue and sound effects from the music. For example, here in this clip, you retained all of the audio from the film but managed to remove the loud Junkie XL music that accompanies it. I'd be really grateful if you could let me know how to go about doing this as it's something I've been wanting to implement into my edits for a long time.
Thanks for watching, and of course I would love to help! I made the audio stream had 6 channels, which separates dialogue from the music, for the most part. I then use Adobe Audition, and I extract all channels into individual mono tracks. Audition does its magic, and cuts all 6 channels in that one audio clip into 6 different clips. You want to choose the Center audio clip, because that's the one which has all the dialogue. If you need a step-by-step guide, then I'd be happy to do that. Just let me know if it was too confusing! Have a great day!
FireMerk Studios Thanks for the reply. I'd really appreciate a step-by-step guide if you could do one. I just got the new Adobe software last night and trying to teach myself some new editing techniques. I've been using Final Cut Pro 7 for around 7 years now. Whenever I put my video clip into the timeline, it only gives me 2 audio channels once I've put it through MPG Streamclip through Apple ProRes 422. I just think it'd be easier if I could see how you go about it in real time. Thanks a lot!
Hey, sorry for such the late response. Go ahead and PM me your email address and I'll get back to you this weekend! Thanks again for watching!
HI. i've been trying to do the same. I'd really appreciate it if you helped me do what movie dude also wanted to know. All i've been doing is using the center channel extractor and applying a male voice. It helps but you can still hear the music in the background. Anyways, i'd be really grateful if you helped me with this :)
its good but junkie xl's score is one of the best parts of the movie. And hans zimmer also worked on this score
Could you PM me your fanedit when you finish? I'm really interested :)
I'll be posting it on our channel for everyone to see! If you can't find it there, because of a take-down, then please try at fanedit.info Thanks for watching!
i’m not still okay with batman blowing up two people with a grenade tho
that was an accident. he couldn't save them
How does Bruce know about Clarks mom?
Can you post this scene in 1080 p
It’s already in 1080p
Which BVS is this? The Consequences cut, No Justice cut or the other edit?
This edit, I believe, is from my very first fan-edit called 'Dawn of Justice'. The other edits you mentioned are not from me, but other editors. The Consequences Cut belongs to Wakupkeo.
@@FireMerkStudios I see there is a way to watch it and I have but is there a way to download your first fan edit or a google drive link to download it?
Not bad
Is the edit still available?
I believe the edit you're looking for is right here: www.firemerkstudios.com/dawn-of-justice
Well that was quick 😁
Thanks you a lot!!
@@alexandermorgan8377 No problem :) Hope you enjoy!
somehow close, but still Ultimate Editiona way better.
I just wish you would've cut that knife bit just a little earlier ,otherwise this is soooo good
I seriously can't wait for the whole fanedit
Thanks for the feedback! Already ahead of you. Took out that bit after I had uploaded. Been improving the sequence since. Can't wait to show you this scene with the additional changes! Thanks for watching!
I just realized how crazy the fact that simply changing the score made the whole scene so much more uplifting instead of "epic and depressing "
That's the power of editing, my friend. That's the main problem I had with this film. Theatrical Cut, the editing was all the over the place, and once I saw the UE, I saw a lot of potential for an interesting movie. But, also thought it would be interesting to see Man of Steel mixed in with BVS. Can't wait to show you and hear what your thoughts are! And yes, I honestly felt like that warehouse scene needed to be more uplifting. I mean, Batman has now realized he was the bad guy the entire time, and that he hasn't been himself. He's now the Batman we all love and remember, and the music helps to represent that.
Great work on this but the original scene had more meaning then want controversy say it does
The original scene had more meaning? XDDDDDDDDDDD
Sorry.. didn’t work
No
I wish it had write before he throws the speer the "i will not kill line"
Then it will be perfect
I don’t think there was any fixing in this video as it was pretty much the same as in the movie
Not fixed at all
snyder cut < your cut
Nolan's score does not lend itself well to these scenes. Not at all.
