- I'm finally installing a Remin dash kit that I purchased from CarID in my 2007 Saturn Sky. They also have kits available for the Pontiac Solstice. I also added my own little touch to the kit as well.

Glad your not afraid to try all these custom touches and helps us viewers understand if we want to buy it, and how to install it!
Thanks. And yeah, I'm kinda crazy like that. I hope you've been following my turbo build videos too. Those prove I'm a little bit nuts....lol.
I've had a kit installed for over two years and never used a single adhesion promoter. No problems at all and no heat does not cause them to fall off
Looks good. The red piping really sets it off.
Great video i I recenlty discovered this on car id even though ive always seen it never clicked it or seen what it was. Your video is first i watched and considering doing to my silverado
thank you I plan on doing this for my 2016 honda civic in real carbon fiber. I just got the rixxu milano car seat covers and plan to get manicci floor liners in black/black leather
Just the dash kit alone I think would like off and have those little gaps like you explained. When you added the red piping that REALLY made a HUGE difference and it looks great! What color is this exactly? I want to get the exact same! Also where did you find that piping? I've been watching a lot of your posts and they are very informative.
Here it is. amzn.to/2zM7NKZ
you have a beautiful car by the way
Thank you.
I did dark burl.
Looks good Mike!
Thanks :)
Thank you. I’m considering one for my Ford Ranger
the sticky cardboard if for your entertainment. Yep, I had the same thing on my kit. I took some time to pick out the pieces I wanted to install and moved on . I have the fake honey oak with that rubbery finish - I should have gone with the real wood. You will find, as I did, dust and crud gets in-between the pieces and is a pain to clean.
Not sure I like it Mike especially living in Orlando it gets so hot it might fall off. Anyway thank you mike
Sorry to hear you don't like it....but I love it. I've had many compliments on it so far and one guy thought it was an upgraded stock interior. I loved that comment. As for it getting too hot. I know a few people in Southern California that have the kits with no problems. And it gets in the high 90's to 100+ here in Nashville....so it's not a cold climate for me by any means. If for some reason it starts getting loose, I can always user some super glue :)
Use super glue and ruin the dash beyond repair.....I don't think so.
@@sjgavenger37 no but he can use liquid 3M adhesive just fine.
@@tysonbridges9179
And just wait until you have to remove it and see how much damage happens to the dash. No thanks. Not for me. So if you don't mind causing severe damage to your dash....well more power to ya. Not my thing.
@@sjgavenger37 so what time to trade in. Chepo
Looks great!!
I like to know and see if you added the red striping and black covering to the back
How has it held up these past few months?
Great job...inspiring.
Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
@@MikesHouseOfMods is it still holding up strong?
What version is this kit? I really like it a alot. I saw there's a basic and a full set but I don't know which it is.
Hi Charlie. I purchased the full kit along with the optional kit from Carid. The optional kit included the door pieces which I really like.
@@MikesHouseOfMods Thank you
Great review. I was wondering if it all was temporary stick on crap.
No. This is a very well made dash kit and it's still sticking great even after a summer of top down driving.
Thinking this is my next project, overall are you happy after install and using?
Not a huge fan of that. I am however looking for parts to replace the shifter knob and chrome ring. Any sources?
Can i please know the dimensions and weight of the dash kit package please..?
Great idea!! I will have to get the red...lol
Did you use the adhesive pen on the whole kit or just certain parts? Also how is it holding up after 2+ years.
Hey Mike where did you get the Saturn sky t shirt from I want one to
Hi Dave. Sorry for the delay in my response. I didn't see your post. I have an online store that sells them here. 512designsapparel.com/collections/t-shirts
I watch your installation , ....... As you said, not a big fan ? Great looking car. I'm trying to find one 08. I'm 6' 1" is there a lot for a tall guy to re configure to fit us big guys ? I like the style of the car, but I may just have to get a BMW Z 3 or 4. 2009.
Hi Scott. I'm also 6'1" and I'll admit, it's a little tight, but not horrible. I have the seat all the way back so I'm not able to lean it back as far as I'd like. But some people like to sit more upright anyway. My knees don't hit the steering wheel or anything like that and there's actually a lot of arm length away from the steering wheel. I even have head room when the top is up. I would suggest trying to find one for sale close by and just sit in it. People are proportioned differently (same height but long legs or short legs) so you may be perfectly fine in there. I'm not sure how much room is in a Z3 or Z4, but I do have a friend that has one and he likes it (except for when it needs a repair). He said fixing it costs a fortune.....so just watch out for that.
Hey. How long do you think it will take to have this install if you work straight through? I'm paying someone to install mine.
Maybe a couple of hours. Less if they know what they're doing.
@@MikesHouseOfMods Ok. Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping for one hour lol. I guess not. Thanks again.
Hey Mike, this has nothing to do with the video, but has your shifter ever gotten stuck in the park position?
Well, I have a manual transmission so I have no park position. However, that's the first time I've ever heard of that issue. Do you belong to the Sky/Solstice Facebook Group. Someone over there may have an answer. facebook.com/groups/107999612683303/
The few times that has happened when parking customers vehicles at our shop it was because the front tires had been turned really hard in one direction when the car was put in park and turned off. All this built up torque was stopping the shiftier from being able to move out of park. You have to turn the wheel in the same direction it was being turned when it was turned off...and hold it there to relieve the torque pressure the tires are putting on the shiftier...while you start the car and move the shiftier out of park, now you can let go of the wheel and all should be good. Let me know if this works for you. BOZ @ The Van House of Louisville
This happened to me once the first day I owned my solstice and I freaked out. I shut the car off and back on and it worked like normal ever sonce
Very Nice!
Thank you.
did you just add piano gloss black to your car, lol?
don't let yuri and jakub know.
Hey it’s been awhile since you’ve had it installed. Has it came off any? And what’s the avg temp around your area. Thanks
Hey Trent. The dash kit is still on there and is strong as the day I installed it. It's still perfect. As for our temps, I live in Nashville and the last 3 weeks has been in the high 90s. Plus I do a lot of autocross racing in Alabama which is an even hotter area with lots of sun. I'm very happy with the kit. The only thing is that the particular material I chose gets finger prints very easily.
Is it still holding on?
Absolutely. I'm really impressed with it especially since I do autocross racing in high heat sunny days with the top down most of the time. Not once has it tried to come off.
@@MikesHouseOfMods thanks for letting me know. Now i just gotta decide on the finish option 😂
Adding gloss black must a first 😂
Where did you get the red tape from? Thanks!
I assume you're talking about the red piping? If so, I go it on Amazon here...amzn.to/2DcxB5f

Hey Mike, how’s the reliability of a Saturn sky? Are there any huge maintenance issues?
Hi Ethan. So far, mine has been extremely reliable (knocking on wood). One of the major known issues with the Sky and Solstice, however, is the water pump. So if you're thinking about purchasing one, ask if the water pump has already been changed. When I bought mine, I didn't know about this issue so I didn't ask. However, I've had mine for over a year and it has almost 90,000 miles on it. So maybe the previous owner already changed it....or I just happen to have a good one :)
I just got the real carbon fiber dash kit. I was hoping it would be hard plastic not sticker resin.
How did it turn out?
Mike - where did you get the thirty and hoodie? Thx Doug
DH McC Thirty and hoodie?
T shirt
DH McC Wtf why do u blab so much and you keep dragging and saying pointless shit. Just get to the point and make your videos short and to the point please. I have a redline sky and watching how I can do stuff to it yet you really need to stop blabing pointless stuff. Your videos should be 5 to 7 minutes max and speak clearly. Cuz you are boring me and pretty much depressing me with your tone. Now this is my feedback and maybe this is why you get low views. Just get to the point and show us.
Rachy Goody You comments were directed too me. I am not the channel owner. While I am here, I would suggest that you depression comes from you negative, mean, nasty attitude. This gentleman is putting effort into trying to help Sky owners. Don't be a Redline Skyhole!
Now it just needs alcatara above the dash kit to be perfect!!!
Salvadorz24 That would be a cool thing to add.
I tried that stuff on a Dodge avenger I had and it just looked so cheap and generic. After a few months it started to peel off. Within one year I just pulled it all off and threw it all away.
Well that sucks. Mines been on for almost a year now. No peeling, no fading, and I get compliments on it all the time. Maybe you got a bad batch with your kit.
@@MikesHouseOfMods
I don't know maybe. But for me I don't like it but hey to each there own. You like it great. Just not something for me. So how is that short shifter working out? I seen that video and I am curious if it took some time to get used to it.
@@sjgavenger37 I actually took the short shifter back out. I didn't care for it at all. For some reason it was difficult to get into the right gear. Plus for me, it was just harder to shift...not faster. But I know a lot of people love the thing.
@@MikesHouseOfMods
Yeah in the 98 Dodge avenger I had the short shifter was actually better. But I would think in a vehicle such as the solstice or the sky that already has a short shift I could see where someone could have the problems you described.
@@sjgavenger37 Yep. And add to it that our transmission is the same as what's in a Chevy Colorado truck. Not the smoothest one out there.
18 minutes and you still haven’t put the first piece on!!!!
A Saturn?? Really..😢
Don't be so jealous.
