You’re 185 comes across beautifully in the way your recording it for this video, as well as you’re playing. Nice acoustic chops. Carry on.

Thank you for sharing this Richard. And I agree. Your J-185 is really seductive and special. It has the vintage sound and vibe but really nice to hear how you appreciate and respect previous owners together with the guitar's own history.
Maple so underrated (except by jazzers!). Some are great, some not so, but this one sounds so beautifully seasoned and played in, it's crazy. Doesn't have the boom of a 200 which you don't always want as a strummer.

It's got an angle on the jangle. So much so, I had to grab a guitar, play that last Cmaj7 he did, to see if his was tuned down a bit.

J-185 was introduced in 1951, not 1953. And no, Ike Everly didn't design it for his sons, The Everly Brothers were 12 and 14 years old at the time of its introduction. Ike apparently tweaked the design, mostly cosmetically for his sons signature J-180 model.

Who is Richard Hawley, and what is a J-185? Sounds good, but never heard of them ...
