- One of the hardest parts about growing my channel has been that I am kind of a new genre of videos so UA-cam has trouble figuring out where to put me and who to suggest my videos to. There aren't many UA-cam channels that deal in subjects similar to mine. Here are 5 of my favorite channel that are somewhat similar to mine, in my genre or at least close. Ancient history and ancient pottery in the Southwest, the Americas and the British Isles. Enjoy!

Thanks so much Andy for the generous thumbs up. I've said it before but without your guidance I probably would have quit trying. Still, there is so much to learn and with your videos and classes I think I'm making progress. I'd like to give a shout-out to your Wed. night Zoom class - it fun to hang out with other replica potters and get encouraged to try new things.
You are welcome Wes. Thanks. I do love your videos.
It is hard to sift thru to find the good ones on youtube. Thanks for sharing these!!!
Luckily you can always look at the down votes.
No... Wait...
Glad to help.
@mark314158 That was a weird thing, I'm not sure what they are hoping to accomplish.
Thank you for the shout out, really appreciate it! We still need to make plans for a collaboration some time. 👍🏻
I've got a few rough ideas whenever you have time to consider it. You are so welcome, your content is really good and you deserve more subs. I hope this helps a little.
My deepest thanks for the recommendation! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!
A great video. Thank you so much for the mention :)
Sorry that I only just spotted the mention section on my UA-cam dashboard. We are definitely better with ancient technology as opposed to modern technology :) Such an honour to be mentioned amongst these talented people. Thank you.
Thanks! I love your work, seriously. If I lived in the UK I would keep turning up on your door.
Thanx Andy!
You're welcome!
Cool! Thanks, Andy!
Glad you liked it!
I have heard of Tony Soares before and respect his work. I will check out the channels you mentioned for sure, thank you!!
I also like these youtube channels:
Cherokee Pottery w/ Joel Queen, Ann Mitchell Grandmother of Cherokee Pottery, & African Pottery Forming and Making
Thanks for those suggestions I’ll check them out
Really interested in the Potted History channel. You’ve opened up yet another pathway of wonderful stuff. Thanks a mill.
… and the other channels you recommended are fascinating.
So glad to have both you and them. Sometimes it can be hard to sort through all the content on UA-cam to find the good stuff.
I am familiar with most of the channels you mentioned and will be sure to check out the others! we have a few more months till hibernation is over here in northern New Mexico, so there will be plenty of time to check them out! Thanks Andy!
Enjoy your hibernation, I’m glad to provide a little distraction over the winter.

Thanks for another fine video Andy. I have been following Tony for a while now thanks to a link in one of your other videos. I look forward to checking out the other channels to. I think I'll start with Airstream Wanderings.
How did your most recent firing go at Steam Punk Ranch? Or is that happening right now? Not sure if it was this morning or yesterday. Hope it was successful :)
Thanks. It went off fine yesterday morning. Several other people brought pots to fire and it was a lot of fun.
Thank you Andy for all that you show us. I have a question. When you have to buy clay, what do you get?
I have purchased clay twice in my life. Once for teaching children how to make coil pottery and again a few months back when I made this video ua-cam.com/video/vp6LQXPfEZs/v-deo.html Both times I just bought whatever was available. If you are hoping to make primitive pottery and fire it outdoors then you probably want a brown clay and add about 20% temper (sand).
Hey Andy, thanks for sharing your recommendations! Do you know anyone with experience in wild marine clay?
I have used ancient marine clay I find here in the SW. But not anyone who is specifically focused on marine clay.
👏👏🙏🙌
Thanks
Definitely off topic to this video but... I took some broken pots and other green ware that had broken before firing and then put them in a pail of water for a couple weeks forgetting about them. The whole mix of water and clay had gone rancid, smelling partly like sewage. Although combating micro organisms is a shot in the dark since they could be any thing from bacteria in the dirt to bacteria on my hands the last time I worked the clay. So I have no idea if the clay is rescuable or not but. I'm currently in the process of re-levigating the clay in bleach water... Do you know if this will ruin my clay? Or do you know if I was to do the same thing but drastically change the PH up or down. Would either of these also hurt the clay? I really have no idea but. I'm currently experimenting. Once my bleach treatment is done and it settles out again. I though I would repeat the process but add chemical ph down to the water (used for my gardening needs) My theory is that the low ph will make it an inhospitable place for the bacteria to live and kill off what the bleach might miss. But what I don't understand is if this will cause any chemical changes to happen to the clay elements. Please if you have any insight I'd be happy to know your input and if not I'll try to keep you informed of what happens either way. Ultimately this is a very very strong argument as to why you shouldn't store wet clay. But for Us all the clay we dig up is already wet has been for centuries. So maybe I need to dry it out first? Then process?
It depends very much on the clay. I have some clays that will get black and stinky if left and others that will stay fresh smelling when wetted for months. I tend to learn and avoid the stinky clays, but I assume you could store them dry, then re-wet when it is needed, then use quickly. I have no experience with adding bleach so no idea what the outcomes might be. My solution is to dry the clay out and it will stop stinking.
English heritage says a lot. They are obsessed about pottery and its linked with the discovery of the bone ash porcelain.Seems like a subject for national pride.
If your interested in old european ceramic, you should check Cucuteni ,Boian( the oldest european) and Hamangia Thinker.
These are much older than greek and roman pottery.
Thanks for the tips, I am going down the rabbit hole now.
Thank you for sharing. Great recommendations. Getting close……14.9k
Definitely, probably this week!
Awhh that’s wonderful. Congratulations. You deserve it.
Do you have any Peruvian/Inca Pottery?
👍
it is nice to be directed to good UA-cam channels. i have wasted so much time clicking on a channel just to find out it is real crappy or it is not on subject.
thank you for giving us another great video.

You are welcome. I think we have all been there, sorting through terrible videos looking for something good.
