As long as we can see your process, we are happy. The music was lovely...the sounds were relaxing. And you added little captions on screen for clarity! A fine video!!
This was just perfect. Very clear, helpful and at the same time relaxing to watch. What a beautiful place you were in. But, "wait four days" and you just left it there???
What a beautiful video! I loved seeing the environment. I could imagine myself there. I liked the quiet music that let you still hear the natural sounds.
I love all your videos ! Very informative and interesting. I have retire recently and live on east cost we made a trip to a very interesting national park and I got interest in pottery there. So I started researching how to pottery that is when I found your channel. Thank you for up loading all the videos. He is a little info on national park we went to. In the heart of Georgia lies a place that has been settled for 17,000 years. Ocmulgee National Monument’s human history dates to the Paleo-Indian Period, and the area was occupied until the Muscogee (Creek) removal in 1826. Upon arrival at the Visitor Center, you will see over 2,000 artifacts on display, including a Clovis Point spear head dating to 10,000 BCE, earthen pottery made around 3,500 BCE, and European dishware from the 1700s CE. Again thank you!!!
This is one of my favorite videos, not because of the lack of narration or talking, but because of the fine piece of art you created in nature. It is much more work to do this kind of work in nature especially when you don't live in nature. I like all pottery, but red slipped bowls are somehow my favorite pots. You done a great job on this bowl Andy and a great job on the video. I appreciate the work that went into both, and only us who have done this in the natural realm could understand how much planning and focus to do all of this while filming it. Wonderful video and great sounds too! Thank you and I hope all who watch this enjoy it as much as I have!
Thanks Mark! You are right, a great deal of effort working with the camera angles and lighting and everything else. And getting up and down off the ground so many times left me stiff and sore the next day. But I think the results were worth it.
Yup, one of your best videos. It just shows that there can be good story telling without talking. The music was good, not distracting. Nice job with editing. I think my favorite shot was the tree reflection in the water bowl and then dipping in the scraper. It seemed that you just sat down and made the bowl but you put a lot of work into setting up the camera shots. But don't get rid of the narrated videos, its just nice to mix it up. 2 thumbs up.
Thanks Wes. That's for sure, a lot more work in one of these then is obvious just watching it. It would be so much easier if I could afford a cameraman, alas!
Love it great show , and you are a very brave man laying that bowl down over and over on wet sand and near WATER. If I did that it would not work out well I am sure. THANKS Andy
❤ Well I can't tell you how many young children love you as much as I do as I am showing and helping them. They are learning a lot thanks to you. This is so good for young people. Children really love that. Thank you so much if I had money. I would certainly join you but I have none grandkids and lots of Nieces and nephews.
"Oh Brother's let's go down, let's go down, won't ya come on down... Oh Brother's let's go down, down to the river with clay..." 😀 This vid is great the way it is, in my humble opinion. Pure and meditative. Thanks Andy!
That song wouldn't go very far in keeping with your parson's image, I'm afraid. "Down to the River with Clay" would be a great opening for: Parson Ward's Weekly Sunday Morning Ceramic Revival. ...which I know you will do eventually! 😁
Giveaway I never feel more grounded than when I'm working clay in nature. Great video Andy. As I look out the window at snow I was able to feel the warmth as if I was sitting there enjoying the time with you. Thank you
Lovely film and very different. It makes me want to go back through all the previous “how to “ videos and revisit all the steps. There is so much to learn for that simple act of making a pot. It’s brilliant 😎
Love it! Soooooooo relaxing. I think that a mix of videos like this where you just have the annotations, and the ones where you give the step-by-step instructions is great. It keeps it from getting repetitive for those of us who are regular viewers, but also provides instruction for the newbies. And ones like this provide inspiration for everybody. What a wonderful thanksgiving gift! BTW...."Giveaway!"
This is an excellent video because you have some music, some sounds of nature and your script which appears here and there. You demonstrate very well the technique. Thank you
really nice. the music is a good choice (i think it needed the music), the labels are nice, the background sounds are good, the step by step build is great, and bowl you made! wonderful! thank you for the great video. OU
Thank you for the kind words Tom. I'm glad everyone seems to like this, I made two versions, one with the music and one without and it was hard to choose.
Outstanding video! Everything about it is great! The only thing it needs is the fireing. Dont stop making your other style videos but make a few more of these also.
I really like this style of video. I wouldn't change anything but sometimes a video with narration is necessary and just as artistic and good in it's own way. This was very good.
Hey Andy.. Wow one your best videos.. Loving the simplicity of it. But knowing how much thought and effort you took to bring this to us all.. And the 🔥.. We're all waiting.. Thanks again
Thanks, yes, there is a lot of work here in doing the video work along with the pottery, pretty much two whole days of effort. (to say nothing of the video editing task)
Awesome vid! Beautiful pot, and beautiful scenery 😍 Definitely nice without narration, felt more peaceful and nice to watch! Nature sounds would be wonderful, but in this case the music was nice, and didn't distract. 👍 I really need to go there some time soon. Not that far of a drive from Phoenix 🙂
Thank you. This is one of my favorite places in Arizona, of course I grew up in Sierra Vista so the San Pedro was practically my backyard. Definitely worth the drive from Phoenix.
Great video! You were more able to consentrate on project when not having to worry about dialogue. The lack of narration actually added to the natural feel. Thank You for a great time watching.
@@AncientPottery So many others commented on all the work you did with camera I left that out but though of a suggestion. Do you ever have a student your tutor? If so get someone to mentor & make helping with videos part of the mentoring. Most of the young need to learn old ways & need to work for it. I did when young.
So beautiful , outside work by a river. Thank you for this. I live on a large property in Eastern Ontario, Canada, surrounded by wildlife, a pond and wet lands and I would love to try my hand on a bowl. I have ordered clay but it'll take a while to get here. We don't have clay near by that I know of. We live on the Canadian shield, on bedrock and have very little soil but I'll keep my eyes open for clay. I can fire outside.
That's where this was filmed. I parked at Fairbank and walked down the river a little ways to be alone. I grew up in Sierra Vista so I have been on just about every inch of that river.
@@AncientPottery That’s what I thought. I live about 20 minutes from there. I love it. And the little ranch across from it. Little Boquillas I believe. That’s awesome!❤️
ANDY COULD I IMPOSE ON YOU TO SEND ME THE SHORT NOTEWITH THE 5 pots for this new year one more time it got AWAY from me before I got a copy for referrals when building THIS yearThank YOU.
Let me know what you think. Is it good with no talking, no narration? Is the music good or would it be better with just the sounds of nature?

La nature… la musique juste ce qu’il faut…
J’aime beaucoup ce que vous faites 👍🏻
Merci.
Merci, ravie que cela vous ait plu.
Love it great show , and you are a very brave man laying that bowl down over and over on wet sand and near WATER. If I did that it would not work out well I am sure. THANKS Andy
The truth is I never set the bowl down on wet ground. I set it on dry ground and propped up on rocks and in the puki. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely stunning! Love all aspects of your video and it gave me such a sense of peace and calm.
Thanks, that was my goal.

Very nice video. Natural sounds, gentle music, and no narration make it very soothing. And then the artistry on display, well, amazing!

You are correct, something very therapeutic about clay in nature. Glad to be able to send a little Arizona sunshine north.

Thanks Roy. Yes, many different steps, it has taken me years to get where I am, but I didn't really have a teacher.
So calming and peaceful
You have taken it to a new level, and your viewers with you...

You can order it online. Something like this amzn.to/3rbOk1n or this amzn.to/3nURd4J these are affiliate links

Yep, two fairly thin coats. Thanks!
