I was born 2 years after this song. Lol!!! And the Who as well as the Stones are 2 of my favorite bands. And their longevity will not be surpassed. 👍👍👍
"My Generation" was the 1965 debut single from The Who. The video clips reflect events in the UK back then with plenty of celebrity cameos included -- Sean Connery, Emma Peel, and Winston Churchill among others. I wasn't yet born when this song was released, but I used to sing this song in the garage band I formed with some buddies when I was thirteen some fifteen years later. One aspect of the social turmoil in the US and UK back in the sixties was a clash between the baby boomer generation and their world war two generation parents. The lyrics of this song reflects some of that.
My Generation came out in 1965. The footage was taken in and around London during that time. It was becoming a city filled with music and fashion. A groundbreaking decade when all rules were thrown out the window.
I was born in 1966, in Zimbabwe, but I think my parents were in Britain just before this song was released. I learned a lot from reading the other comments. You really do have a great little community here. I'm really glad I found your channel. ❤️
Some of the footage was the Brighton Beach riots between the Mods and the Rockers that would later go on to partially inspire the Who's Quadrophenia album.
Back in the late 70’s Pete always said he didn’t know what all the fuss about the punk movement was about. As far as he was concerned The Who invented punk rock over a decade earlier when their were in their infancy. Back then, he admits he wasn’t a great guitarist - at that time - but made up for it with incredibly loud volume and frenetic, wild playing.
I was 11 when this came out but have heard it a million times through the years. It’s a classic. Every generation thinks they are going to save the world. Really we all have experienced those times and then the real world takes over. Hang on to hope, everyone all over the world. We cannot solve all problems but we can respect each other. It’s not too much at ask. Great song.
In the sixties in England there were fights between different groups of teenagers who loved different musical styles :he Mods and the Rockers .. this is why we can see pictures of police who had to interfere during street fights between Mods and Rockers on seaside resorts in England ! The Mods usually loved "the Who " music
There's a bit in one of the Beatles' movies where a reporter asks Ringo if he's a Mod or a Rocker ; he says, "Neither - I'm a Mocker". I don't know why I still remember that, sixty years later ... !
Africa Reacts, be sure to check out the movie about The Who called "The Kids Are Alright". The first scene in the movie is the band performing "My Generation" on American TV. GREAT!!!
Thé Beatles may be the greatest musical act of all time, but The Who are the greatest rock band ever. They are even better live. More Who please. Some songs recommendations are: Baba O’Reilly, Won’t Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes, I Can See For Miles, Pinball Wizard, Who Are You, Love Reign O’er Me, See Me Feel Me, Substitute, You Better You Bet, Eminence Front, Bargain, The Seeker - I could go on but that should convince you. Your enthusiasm and reaction is wonderful. Keep it up!

My Generation was The Who`s third single as The Who.
Great reaction!! Your voice is freaking amazing 👏
One of my all-time favorite songs! I was just a kid in the '60s, and it had the best music of modern times, as well as a real generation gap.
the song: join together, pleaseee! you are gonna dance with that song of the who, believe me!!

We'd be in Who wonderland if more reaction videos hit the channel soon. 😊
Most of that footage is the 60s, though some of it could have been from the 1950s. Definitely all before the 1970s.
1960’s mod music…1970’s mods would be the Jam. edit:add date
Hello !!! Can you do a video reacting to: Irakere, Juana 1600?? I promise you are going to like it.
"I hope I die before I get old". I think they have all changed their tune except for Keith Moon and John Entwhistle. It's too late for them.
