Great character he played in Fargo and an interesting person in real life. Always amazes me how good actors are where they can completely and convincingly transform themselves into a character who is not at all like their real selves.
His character was a callback to the original towering thug in the movie, that actor in the original inflecting an accent that was unrecognizable, likely happenstance because he's an odd actor unable to break from his own accent. What a wonderfully creative move to flesh out that Fargo archetype in Season 5 and give him and his accent an origin story. I had to click on this video to hear this actor's natural voice.
Sam was stunning in this series of Fargo. But I did feel that the writing of/background to his character was a bit confusing. He’s shown as a starving peasant in Wales at the beginning of the 16th century, but at the end speaks as if he was a Viking coming over the Atlantic to what would become the USA, and living with the native Americans. The two timelines don’t match. Perhaps this was intentional, to throw us audiences off kilter? I hope so.
Sam did a great job of portraying Ole Munch! One of the craziest and most intriguing characters throughout all the seasons of Fargo.
I agree!!!
Him and whoever played Hanzee in 2 was pretty interesting

I really enjoyed this character. So strange and unrelatable and somehow still a sympathetic character.
Yes!!!
Great actor in a great role. Thank you!
I agree!
This was quality acting. I salute you Sam!
After that final scene, I needed to come here to watch him to discover that he is a nice guy. I can sleep now.
King Maekar I Targaryen, all hail king Maekar of House Targaryen🙇🏻♀️🔥🐲
His character scared me but not as much as Ray Tillman! 😮
I loved the ending of Season 5 ❤

I've never heard of Sam before Fargo, and this was not the voice I expected to hear!
