Edward Vincent Sullivan was an American television personality, producer and newspaper columnist who is best known for hosting the "Ed Sullivan Show" from 1948 to 1971. The show was one of the most popular television programs of its time and helped to launch the careers of many famous musicians, comedians, and other performers. Ed Sullivan was known for his formal, serious demeanor and stiff presentation style, which made him a household name in the United States and an iconic figure in the history of television. Despite his reputation for being a tough and demanding host, he was widely respected for his ability to bring a diverse range of talent to a national audience. Today, Ed Sullivan is remembered as one of the most influential figures in the history of American entertainment.

Why is is that this channel typically has "miserable life and tragic death" in the titles? In this one, Ed Sullivan's life was far from miserable as was his death.
False advertising .he died very rich.
False information. This isn’t an ad.
That's why I'm all too happy to hit "Don't recommend channel". The image shown is also simply irresponsible of the channel creator.
Click bait
Don’t even bother with this one!
WTH? Why do you keep putting totally nonrelated photos in the thumbnail?? Like Ed Sullivan died a homeless person? What a crock...
Thank you Ed for giving us a handful of bands and singers performing and giving us a childhood.
Ed Sullivan died in 1974 and was worth an estimated 10 million at the the time of his death, a boat load of money back in 74, but he lost his wife Sylvia a year earlier to heart failure, and had suffered dimentia, according to Joan Rivers, at the end if his life. Ed Brought us great clean entertainment and was a wonderful human being.
He always put on a good shew!
🤣 good one
Very interesting but I see nothing miserable or tragic here!
That’s a GOOD THING👍
Is there any film and media celebrity featured on this channel who hasn't had a "tragic death"?
I was wondering exactly the same thing
He was a legend
We didn't get the Ed Sullivan show in the UK but I love all the old clips
The references to obvious clickbait will always be ignored because this kind of a tactic works. Ed Sullivan once he became famous was never poor, destitute or in the streets.
What a Miserable and Tragic Life! I've never seen such misery and tragedy before! Who knew Ed Sullivan was penniless and destitute at the end of his life, that he spent time in jail, that he contracted numerous life-threatening diseases throughout his life, that he had a vicious fistfight with Paul McCartney and Ringo right before they appeared on his show and that he died tragically from the Common Cold! RIP Ed Sullivan!!!
The photo at right is not of Sullivan! My guess it's the person who puts these clickbait videos on youtube.
He didn't want the rock group The Doors to come back.
Topo Gigio....
Yes, Ed had a way with rodents as well.
My cousin Ed has a black and white picture of him and his top gigio doll. That was cool his parents got one for him. I got the typical barbie doll.
What’s up with the clickbait titles ? You do so much good work on your videos, why sully it with nonsense titles?
BTW back then "Plastic" cosmetic surgery was new.... at least the term "Plastic Surgery" was new.
So many in the public falsely though that actual plastic was inserted during the surgery and became part of the patient
So, what does this have to do with Ed Sullivan?
Since Ed did not have the greatest smile and one might say it was just a bit unusual.......
Some in the public started the rumor that Ed has a plastic cheek. I even remember my parents discussing this.
I think he got fake choppers.
@@cybervision_1
Fact is,. not everyone has a great smile This does not mean that there is something wrong with their teeth
He certainly UNIFIED the nation.
How did he have a miserable life and die tragic death of a pauper as your thumbnail suggests? This is misleading and a dishonest way to obtain views.
The Ed Sullivan Show ran for 25 years, not 20. 1948-1973
That would be 25 years, Einstein.
@@trwent That’s what I said, Exlax. Smooth move.
@Sergio 3 NO, you said 23 years and then corrected it after I pointed out your error.
@@trwent You’re right, just fooling around. Can’t believe I said 23.
"A really really big shew!"..
I wear size 11.5.
Talk about legacy
I can't believe my ears. WABC was an affiliate of CBS. I always thought CBS, NBC, ABC were separate entities.
What's the truth?
When did he die
Fake & clickbait
''THE TOAST OF THE TOWN'' of the 1950s !!!!!
Lots of facts but no film, kind of a let down.
What a whitewash. Missed his involvement during the McCarthy Era. I grew up watching him and seeing opera singers., scenes from popular Broadway shows..
You'd think, based on the pictures here, that he had the Beatles on every week. Way too much of the same thing, pictorially, considering how many many different famous people and KINDS of people he featured.
Shame on you CHL! This is defamation of character to portray him as homeless in his death!!!
Change lyrics or it's called let's spend the night together
My mother thought he looked like Humphrey Bogart. I disagree.
He did!
How much did he have in the bank when he died
The clickbait title is unnecessarily misleading.
The only truly tragic part of Ed Sullivan's death was, oddly, not even mentioned. He died an agonizing death from esophageal cancer while under excruciating pain from gastric ulcers which had plagued him for decades.
Why this channel cheapens its reputation by attaching fictitious headlines and photos concerning
how celebrities actually died is
despicable, and can produce only negative publicity and outcry. Why would you undermine your own channel?🙈😫🤯🥺🙉
CLICK BAIT, Ed had a terrific life unlike the BS title
Click bait! He didn't die in an ally like the photo would suggest
the man had no ear at all
total click bait
Don't recommend!!
Dumb title for a very interesting bio. Anyone interested in a bio would read it without words like "miserable" and "tragic." And the photo of the seated man is not true to his life or death, nor is it likely to be Ed Sullivan. This title is disinformation.
Tragic death? What bullshit!
Beattles Beattles killed ED
Not normal voice fake😢
Ed wound up sleeping on da streets
Nope he died extremely wealthy. Absolutely no tragedy what so ever. The tragedy is this channel uses false advertising.
the man had no ear at all
