I was just thinking remember how we used to fold book covers from grocery sacks? It would be cool to fold one for each side of your sketch book to put over the papers and cover under the page you’re working on.
TOTALLY! Great idea!
Great video Jacky, thanks for sharing! Definitely handy for day trips too when there’s not time for a full on plein air session. I like the idea of taking acrylics rather than the usual watercolour box.
Absolutely! So glad you found it helpful! ❤️
ohhh my gosh, I do hope you will do a flip through when t hat adorable little book is full of your vacation art. ....please do a flip through
Great idea! ❤️❤️❤️
I have the same petit sketch book, waiting for the next trip. But now it's calling me! Thank you for sharing that lovely painting! The idea of acrylic paints in storage makes me happy. New subscriber since last night! 🌺
Yes! Get that tiny sketchbook out and play now 🤗 Welcome! I’m so glad to have you watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh that book is soooooo cute!
To me i see a wacky bridge across a river.
Looks awesome.
When I work with small collage bits i use tweezers to hold the paper as i try it in different places, that way my fingers aren't in the way to see. ☺️
Must add tweezers to art table supplies!
That's a great idea to use tweezers! ❤️❤️❤️
I saw a sailboat on the far left as well as the bridge someone else mentioned.
The tiny travel book pages are only a little bit bigger than a grid journal square.
❤️❤️❤️
Just sit up in that ice shanty making tip up inspired collages!
Hahaha! It was much warmer than an ice shanty but it did snow every day! ❄️😅😂
Pretty cool!
Thank you! ❤️
Would love to see what you made, and how you managed to keep from "contaminating" the different colors, and whether the container kept the paint from drying out and mixing, and if you think it would work for water colors. Adorable little book! Did the paintings bleed through, meaning will you skip spreads??
The travel kit exceeded my expectations! No bleed through on the paper - it’s thick and lovely. The paint stayed wet and no colors mixed! The silicone gasket worked perfectly *chef’s kiss* 🤗
I've been using this little palette with cup for several years to hold gouache.I don't use the paint kit often enough and so I thought I'd fill the wells all the way up so less air could get to the paint. Also I spritz with water occasionally. This did not work well because it was too full and runny and the silicon seal squished some paint out. But if I used it more frequently I could keep my paint wet without over filling.
@laurabarrow6340 It’s really handy to have just a bit of paint in each color to bring along vs. bringing a bunch of tubes of paint. And let’s be honest, if I only had tubes, I would probably just leave the tubes at home, anyway 😅 So in that sense, it really it makes it POSSIBLE for me to travel with paint. 🤗 Have you ever brought it on a plane? I’m curious to know how TSA would handle it 🤔
It’s always fun to watch real time application to pieces for me because it is ALL in the process right? Your comments the silence, we hear your wheels turning, and it’s what we all do! Thanks Jackie for shsring in your iddy-biddy book 😊
Thanks Denise! ❤️❤️❤️
Enjoy your vacation and your new little itty bitty journal!
Thank you Jeanette! ❤️
Your process is so much fun to watch and learn from! Where did you find that paint palette? So good for travel.
Perhaps you need two squares of Neon Red and Black🤣
I think you’re right 😂 I did use the most fluorescent red of any other color! 😂🤣😂
I love working small. Cutest sketchbook. As you kept interviewing collage pieces for the left side I was saying “no”, “no”, and then once you put the black down the pieces looked perfect! I love all your work! Can’t wait to see all the little gems you create. ❤
Aww, thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh I’m so glad I stopped here today. The art supplies thing! Oh my gosh my husband said I can’t bring more art supplies than clothes next time. 😂
🤣🤣🤣 Then these supplies are PERFECT for you! ❤️
My color shaper is my favorite art tool ever. I just discovered it last year from Judy Woods I believe.
I feel like my art is divided into : before the color, shaper and art after the color shaper.
Have you tried using it for collage yet? Total game changer! 🤗
Yes , I learned that from you 💪🏻💪🏻😃
Marvelous!
🥰🥰🥰
Hi Jackie, I enjoyed this video. I love the idea of a travel kit. You could use the lid as a palette to mix paints, a cut-up credit card that would fit into the paint wells as a makeshift paint pusher, and smoothing medium around. I'm inspired by a holiday of travel and painting. Thank you! Let us know if the paint cover did its job.
Good call on the cut up credit card “palette knives”! I’ll try that next time! The paint cover did WONDERFULLY well! I’m so pleased with this little paint kit - it worked perfectly!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Did the paint container kept safe without the paints mixing up? Yes, of course, show us what you did during your hols!
It worked surprisingly well! Both the book and the paint kit exceeded my expectations by a mile! ❤️
Looking forward to seeing what you produce when you are away.
Thank you!
yes please! love to see what you did.
❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jackie, I love how your little landscape turned out, the fluorescent red at the end was the icing on the cake! And the little sketchbook is really City! I‘m going on a trip to France for a few days and have prepared some drawing tools including watercolour pencils and a brush with a water tank. I couldn‘t imagine taking acrylics with me, because I couldn’t figure out how to manage that in a small amount, but your travel kit seems to be great. Thanks for the idea! Did it do the job? And I‘d love to see more of the mini paintings!
The kit worked so well! I had to pack it sideways in my bag and there were no issues whatsoever. I did use heavy body paint though - haven’t tested fluid acrylics yet (and not sure I will 😂)! I definitely recommend it! ❤️
I love your mighty little art work ❤❤❤ definitely want to see what you did - if you did anything while on vacation
Hope you don’t get snowed in and made it back safely 😊
Thank you, Kelly! We didn’t get snowed in, but it did snow every day ❄️ The place we stayed had giant windows and the snow on the tall trees was gorgeous! Back home to my own cozy bed again now 🙌🏻😆
I really enjoyed your video! I love how this little art piece turned out. Thank you for sharing your new little travel set up. It looks like it’s going to work out great. Have fun on your trip. Stay warm 😊
Thanks so much! ❤️
Love the travel kit!. I Am interested to see if your acrylic paint dried out at all🤞🏻
What brand of fluorescent red do you use? It’s gorgeous.❤
Nothing dried out at all - it’s still doing great - the little silicone gasket saves the day and keeps all the paints separated even when I stored the paint kit on its side. 🙌🏻
Oh, and the paint is from Nova Color Paints!
Hi, Jackie! I’ll be traveling soon and went back to this video-how did these products work for you and did you end up bringing medium and college paper as well? Thanks!
They worked SO well! Believe it or not, the acrylic paint in the little travel palette is STILL wet and I made that video in MARCH! 😳 I highly recommend both! ❤️
Jackie, I'd love to know how it worked out with that paint kit. Did the colors mix? Did they dry up or stay wet? I've only ever used a kit like that for watercolors, but I'd love to be able to bring acrylics in the same way.
The paint kit FAR exceeded my expectations! The paint didn’t spill, the colors didn’t mix (and I stored it on its side in my backpack too! 🤣), AND the paints are STILL wet and usable now - THREE WEEKS LATER! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@jackieschomburgart Wow! That is so great to hear! 🌞 I'll be on the lookout for a similar travel case, for sure. 😊
I have a question. How did the palette work out while traveling? Did the seal work well?
Oops! I should have read the other comments. I see you answered this question. Thanks!
No worries - The paint is STILL in good shape - since MARCH! ❤️
Hi, but what is celadon? It looked clear?
Hi! Celadon is a light grayish green color that I like to use as a neutral 🤗
Did your acrylic paint stay wet/usable in that travel palette?
It DID! In fact, it’s STILL wet and usable - 2 months later! I’m pleasantly surprised 🤗
@@jackieschomburgart Wow. That’s good to know. I used the same palette for gouache but I can’t say that it worked out as well. Thank you for sharing all that you do.
You’re welcome! ☺️
A question about your process- before you started did you know you intended to do a landscape or if not, at what point did you decide? The travel kit looks like it could really work - please let us know if it worked well! ❤
Nope. I typically start off with random marks. I may have an idea to do a landscape sometimes but more often than not, even that turns into something else that isn’t a landscape 😂 I just see how things are shaping up and make decisions as I go.
@@jackieschomburgart thank you!
