Ok, thank you. What about HOW to get the answers and insights to the question? Not everyone has time to answer your questions. Not everyone wants to answer you. Not everyone you ask even has the answers. Hope that makes sense.

I think this is the only channel on UA-cam where a C level executive is sharing all these valuable insights. A true gem of a content!

0:20 partners and team leads motivate the team and drill down to the insights
2:30 one thing that most junior colleagues are struggling with, is really the understanding of a certain task they were asked to do.
cannot solve the question at hand.
4:10 the main objective of consultants is to derive insights and conclusions. from an analysis you conduct that have a real business value.
4:40 "being insightful" is one of the best things somebody can say to you in such corporate environment.
    5:30 a thought environment.
6:00 the principle of "so what" is so powerful for 1. communication - oral and written 2. how you structure your work on day-to-day basis.
all kinds of cuts of data that you prepare for the team.
7:40 lead to tangible so-what; valuable and actionable insights that clients can implement.
8:05 action title is to put "so what"
9:05 joint problem solving session, "what are the things to do next?" analysis and get out of it "what are the implications of my work"

Thanks, Heinrich, your point on junior consultant should be using more "So What" is just what I need. I'm currently an associate consultant, and most of my time is doing analysis and making good looking slides, but I always kinda know something is missing when I compared my slide to senior guys. I'll be sure to incorporate more "So What" during my thinking from now on!

Thank you Heinrich for sharing very important concept in management consulting esp. trying to solve any consulting problems synthesizing research and data. Without deriving the key takeaways and insights we often see leadership's struggle to arrive at conclusions and result resulting in additional effort by leadership. I always refer to your course on how not only the action title but every chart every data and subtitle needs to be framed keeping this important questions "so what" to help us brainstorm. Another thing I remember apart form the so what's during brainstorming sessions is the 5 why? framework and I would really love to see your thoughts on some of the best practices and strategy frameworks for effective brainstorming techniques and a course in management consulting problem solving. Thank you again for taking your time and sharing your thoughts on important management consulting topics. Thank you. Regards Arihant

Hi Arihant, thanks for your comment! Yes, the 5 Why framework is also pretty useful! To be honest I did not see it being used at McKinsey too frequently, but believe it is very valuable to get to the bottom of things. Keep it up and stay healthy! Best, Heinrich

    That was a funny experience.
The „so what” of the video itself starts around 7:45 and lasts about 2 min. Part of that answer is his Udemy course ;-)
The basic message though is valuable and important.

Hey Heinrich, I really appreciate your advice on how to be a better professional (helpful in my agency job) and for giving us all an idea of what a move to consulting would be like.
I find a lot of your tips very useful but sometimes find on a busy day my mind becomes fatigued and I go into an autopilot mode where I find I don't have the capacity to consciously manage my thought process and I miss some opportunities to communicate or strategise in a more impressive way. I'd imagine this is a big issue in consulting also given how how pressure the environment can be. Do you have any advice for staying conscious in these types of scenarios?

I'm so glad to have found your channel. Having tried to join consultancy firms without guidance or luck, I'm setting up my own. Would like to see a video on approaches to pricing consultancy services. I know there are other videos on UA-cam about this, but I value the quality and professionalism of your information curation. So if you could do a video on consultancy service pricing, this would be very helpful (even for this MBA grad). Thank you.
