Judging by your tutorial (which is great, by the way) I can see why Logitech avoided including an operator's manual with this keyboard/mouse combo - it would have been 50 pages thick! I saw you struggle through the setup like I did, but you always provide great insider knowledge in your nice, easy-going demeanor. Shame on Logitech for sticking us with something as complicated as this combo without ANY instructions - not even available one their own website, which is absurd.... Thanks again Dennis!

The cable is not a USB table to charge your wireless keyboard, it is an extension cable to ensure that your unifying receiver is close enough to your keyboard & mouse in the event that there is any interference.

I have never had a hard time configuring a unify receiver. You download the software, insert the receiver, and start the configuration. From there, you follow the prompts by turning your device on when prompted. Nothing more difficult than that.

I bought the MK850 today because of the features you covered in this video. However, the only instructions you get with the mouse and keyboard is a diagram that I found totally worthless. After I found this video I was able to easily connect my desktop and laptop (bluetooth). Thank you for this video.

Hello, Dennis, Exactly how you use the dongle that came in the box was not explained. Is it required somewhere along the process that I missed?
You'll need the USB dongle for the mouse and keyboard to recognize the devices when you first set everything up, and I switched it to each different PC as I set things up...
great video talking to the point that unifying receiver does not work. I actually spent couple of hours with Logitech support and even that person could not solve the problem. He in fact suggested that i use options + software which was again confusing . But this video is great. Based on this video i have 2 computers connected using Bluetooth with no problems. Appreciate the insights
Glad it helped. I have found recently they have updated the software for Options and if you have the USB Dongle inserted it'll ask you to then turn on the device and recognize it now, then turn the 2nd device ie mouse or keyboard depending on what you did first then it'll recognize it as well. After that it should then be good.

@@ramsharyt No just that once you use Options to connect on one PC, then you can repeat the same process on a 2nd and 3rd PC and then whatever of those 3 PCs you plug into it'll be recognized easier then the software from before.

Nice video! I was struggling by myself and other UA-cam videos were no help. Per your suggestion, I threw away the unifying receivers and connected via bluetooth. Works great plus it frees up the USB ports for something else. You saved the day!!!!

Thanks for being persistent enough to figure out this system. The most useful information I got from the video was your admission that it took "hours" to get it all working. Before I got here, I thought it was just me! I'm quite miffed with Logitech, first for going to market with a system that is rather inscrutable and second for projecting the pretense that it works seamlessly and effortlessly. After decades of working in the computer/high-tech industry, I can easily imagine the internal conflicts between engineering/marketing/finance that allow a mess to go into production.

Just some feedback to anyone reading these comments, and interested in purchasing the *MK850 Keyboard and M720 Triathlon Mouse* This is after using the keyboard for two weeks connected to 2 devices (1 by usb dongle and other by BT):
o Keyboard DOES NOT feature a context menu key or second Windows Key (usually bottom right between ALT & CTRL). The absence of the context menu key is highly frustrating if you're used to using it in any Text/Browser/MS-Word-like Editors or in Visual Studio (other apps too, I guess).
o The keyboard DOES NOT have a Num-Lock indicator (it does have a CAPS Lock indicator(!)). Though the status of Num Lock (and CAPS Lock) is briefly displayed on-screen when toggling.
o SOMETIMES the keyboard takes forever (or never) to connect to my second device via BT (the light on the connect button flashes for a while, and eventually goes off when it is unable to connect. Typing on the keyboard brings the light up again... but still does not connect. This is truly frustrating... causing me to have to use the laptop keyboard of the 2nd device to disable/enable BT and try to reconnect to the keyboard. This is on Windows 11).
o The layout and feel of the keyboard is otherwise very comfortable. The 2 options for height tilt are great. A little annoying for Windows users that the keyboard has "Mac" printed buttons.
o The mouse and keyboard are both switched between devices independently. (ie. You need to switch them one at a time, in other words you could choose to only switch the mouse to the other device or vice versa).
o Another thing to be aware of is that the Function keys are narrower (in height) than usual, and there are no grouping dividers (it might take some getting used to, especially for developers wanting to hit F5. On a previous keyboard, a drop of super glue on the key solved the problem by providing a tactile indicator - like in use on F & J keys for centering for accomplished touch-typists).
I hope the soft and comfortable palm padding (though it looks durable) does outlast the keyboard as a whole.

Hi I’ll like to know two things from your video: a) what’s that remote like switcher you were using to switch between computers? And B) one of my three machines is windows XP. Would this feature of flow work on that machine? Honestly I don’t have space on my desk for a second keyboard and mouse.
I had the computers at one point using a HDMI Switcher to change between computers until I had everything setup. I bought it separately. It should work with XP might take a bit more to setup though, can't say for certain as I haven't used XP for a few years now.

Problem- if you do not use the unifier and just BT and put the pc to sleep, wiggling the mouse or k-board won't wake the pc up as BT is asleep also . If you know a workaround, please post. You need a wired mouse to work on this to no avail.
There are other ways to use this now, the software has been updated and it made a big difference, if you haven't updated it in a while, give it a try. Hope it helps.
What if I don't want to use the unifying adapter? Can the combo function well using only bluetooth?
I didn't use the Bluetooth, but yes it should work fine...

Thanks for the video. I guess... that you can connect to 3 devices by using Bluetooth1, BlueTooth2, and WIreless Unifying receiver. I might have the benefit of a few years after technology like this was released to put forward this idea. I've never owned this set, but am interested in buying one.
*My burning question is:* Can you configure it so that pressing either the mouse of the keyboard PC2 (or 1 or 3) button switches both devices at the same time? Or do you have to switch both devices (ie. keyboard, and then mouse or vice versa) independently, in order to have both switch to the other PC?
I understand there may be application to switch independently... _but most of the time one might wish to switch over to another PC completely with the SINGLE touch of a button._
So you can switch between PC 1 to PC 3 by clicking the button but not more than that at the same time. To switch over to a different PC and use the keyboard, mouse and different PCs I'd get a KVM Switch. It works great and I'm now using one. Hope that helps. Thanks

I used to have a 4 source (HDMI/USB) KVM (model: MT-VIKI MT-HK401). Lovely switcher!! But I blew the USB ports on it (and my mouse's usb wifi receiver) by connecting an unsuitable (higher voltage) power supply. I really only have 2 (maybe 3) PC's to switch (I used to connect a stick-PC as well), and my current monitor allows (albeit inconveniently) for 2 HDMI input switching. My mouse as well (toggle under the tummy), it's really just the keyboard that's an issue. So, I'm considering my options... and this Logitech product looked good, with a comfortable looking keyboard (similar to the MS Ergonomic Keyboard back in the day).
For anyone interested, the MT-VIKI MT-HK401allows switching between 4 different Laptop/PC's. It has a wired remote switch, configurable (2 or 3? options) keyboard switching too (no drivers required), additional USB port (x2), audible switch sound (can be disabled), optional power input. It was awesome!

Great video thank you! never knew about this keyboard. This will save me a lot of room on my desktop. One question for you. I am running a 4K TV as a monitor. I am running 2 PC running Win 10 and a Mini Mac. I will still have to use the TV remote to switch from HDMI 1,2 and 3 correct? Tried a KVM switch but just so many wires still on desktop.
I use a HDMI Switch to go between PC's so that might work for you. Yes you will need to switch from HDMI 1,2 and 3. Hope I got that right, if I missed anything let me know. Have a great day.

I had a similar issue. I have two computers having Bluetooth connectivity and a third computer without. I assumed that i could connect the first two computers using bluetooth and the third with the usb dongle but that does not seem to be the case. Secondly it seems that i can not get the M720 mouse that is included to be seen by bluetooth no matter how long i hold the 1,2 or 3 buttons on the side of the mouse. I finally got the bluetooth mouse to work using the unifing software (a separate download and install) but once paired it lost the 1,2,3 functionality. A royal pain, waist of time and money.
I did get it working but yeah it was a pita to get it working and when I changed PCs had to work with it all over again.

I don’t understand how you switched keyboard to work on different computers by clicking the buttons on the mouse. Can you expand on that? I have to uninstall and reinstall the keyboard each time I switch computers
On the Keyboard and the mouse as you change from 1 to 3 it sends a different signal, so that lets you control different PCs each time you switch, same for the mouse. There is new software now that let's you control them easier as well.

Yes, you can setup a second monitor on your laptop, but yes like you say it'll depend on if you have the right inputs or outputs from laptop and monitor. Newer laptops should be able to do this for sure, but there's always getting a universal docking station that might help as well.

Great video. I just bought a new Dell computer and didn't like the keyboard that came with it, so bought another keyboard off Amazon and saw that it had no sound control buttons, so back it went. Then purchased the Logitech MK850. When installed, the sound control did not work. Went on UA-cam, saw your video of 2019, and then download the Options file. It asks me if it can change my computer and that I must put my name, pin, etc, to do so but there is no where to type that info in, it just has a NO selection. So, it seems in order to get sound control, I must download the software? The doesn't seem viable for most users and I'm surprised that you must do this in order for these function keys to work. Any suggestion? Btw, the Logitech website has changed from your video. Thanks!
Not sure the Logitech Software for this keyboard should let you make those changes, I checked the link to the Logitech Website and it worked you might have typed it wrong possibly. Not sure why the software would pose a problem but there's no way around it that I can think of at this time. You can skip the registration for the software and go directly to software to install it to make things work. Hope that helps.

Have you been able to get this to work with a Chromebook? I see in your comments that you need to install software, but I know with Chromebooks you can't run .exe files... wondering if you've tested this with Chromebooks as well?
No I don't have a Chromebook to test it with but it does use Bluetooth as well, so as long as your Chromebook has Bluetooth it should work...

Plug into a USB Port on each PC, moving it to each other PC as you go along...
Does the MK850 work with two or three unifying receivers? Using desktop computers without Bluetooth options.
I've been able to use it with just one unifying receiver on 3 systems.
@@Reviewing_Playing_and_More_RPM The unifying receivers pairing need power cycle the keyboard or mouse, if power cycle the MK850 stay with the selected channel/device will be working with the pairing mode.
@@bingwu4293 I just know for me I am using one Unifying receiver and each PC will recognize the mouse and keyboard. I've not need to do anything else.
So in other words these are "real" bluetooth keyboard and mouse? Unlike some of Logitechs other products who use the unified reciever only. But can't connect to buildin bluetooth connection in the computer.
I did use the unifying USB receiver, but I had to remove it and place it in each PC afterwards to get it to work, was a real pain actually, but yes you could use Bluetooth also...
can I have 2 unify receivers, each attached to a separate pc, then just hit the white key 1 2 or 3 to switch keyboard/mouse. my problem is 1 on my 2 pcs is a company provided computer and i am not allowed to install any software on it
I haven't tried that but it should work, in theory at least...

I just wonder if the 850 /mouse have a 2 or 3 profiles builtin.
@@dukenguyen4701 I only use 1 Unified receiver, both the mouse and the keyboard have a 1,2 and 3 button, so once you set up one PC, then you can switch to the other PC and chose 2 and on the 3rd PC button 3 as well...so yes 3 separate profiles for both mouse and keyboard...hope that helps...

I setup my windows pc in 1 slot and my mac in 2 slot both using bluetooth. but when connected to the pc I face frequent disruption. How to correct it?
I'm not well versed in Mac products, but did Options work with your Mac?

@@vijaikalidass I'm not sure but try to keep other electrical devices 8 inches (20 cm) away from the keyboard, they can sometimes cause interference (although I don't think it is this) I'm wondering if there is something under the Options software that might help, not sure if you checked already...while a long shot check Secure Input, is it enabled if so try turning it off and see if that helps...
Do i need to install the software in both computers for using this device.. i have a personal mac and a office windows laptop. But i cant install anything in office windows laptop. How do i use?
Yes you need to install the Logitech Options software, it's very small in size so unless your completely out of room it'll be good to go...when you install the software on the 2nd system it will see the original unifying USB Receiver and will work then on both, can't say for certain how on MAC though, have never owned one...hope that helps...Thanks...
At 4:28 you claim that the USB extender cable can "charge the wireless keyboard." Explain how it does that, please.
It's used with the usb cable not to charge it, but for the unifying reciver... sorry about that...Thanks...
Could you please explain how you "use the usb cable to charge it"? The keyboard has standard batteries in it, not chargeable batteries, correct?
Also, on the other PC's do you need to have a separate keyboard and mouse connected when you power up the PC so that you can get to the Bluetooth settings and if it's using Bluetooth, does it need to have the software installed as well?
I"m sorry not sure why I said it was for charging, it's not, they provide the USB Extension cable in case you want to plug the unifying receiver into it instead of the Computer, not sure why anyone would want to though but who knows...and yes both components have batteries, keyboard says it'll last 3 years and 2 years for the mouse...as for connecting to the other PC's you can use the unifying receiver so that once one is setup, you then place it in the second one, and setup the 2nd PC then the 3rd...the white buttons on the keyboard and the 3 buttons on the mouse are used to switch between the different PC's after setting them all up...this is why you need to install the options software as well so that once there all setup pushing those buttons will be recognized by the software...Hope that makes things clearer...sorry for the confusion from before...Thanks...
What does the remote do...how is it switching inputs for the monitor?
The remote is separate from this video, it's from the one on using a HDMI Switch to control multiple computers with one monitor, which is what the remote is doing. I used it to show that as I switched to each different computer the mouse and keyboard were working. With both the HDMI Switch and the Keyboard and mouse to work with each different PC it makes doing things much easier then having a separate keyboard and mouse each time...

I've got three inputs on my HP Pavilion 32q monitor but switching between the inputs is a HUGE pain (in certain locations). I have to keep cycling until something shows up, sometimes opening a laptop lid.
The HDMI Switch works great for me, but if you need seamless switching then you need a different HDMI Switch, when you have the right product it will switch almost instantaneously and will work much better...Mine was a cheap one to demonstrate how it can work. Yes, it works great, for me anyhow...and when you remove a PC and then add another computer you just have to install the Options software again and it'll work on that one then as well...

It works with Windows, Mac OS, Chrome OS but doesn't mention IOS, so not sure since I don't use IOS myself.

How do you screenshot with this keyboard?
FN + Insert copies screen to clipboard. To capture screenshot to screenshot folder press and hold FN, then press and hold "Start" key, then hit Insert key.

Is it required to install software even I use two dongles each for my 2 laptops, bcz I can't install this software on my organization pc, please help someone?
No if your using the two dongles it should work with just that, no software needed.

@@therealreviewer7162 You can use any Unify Dongle from a Logitech Product, you can't buy them separately that I know of.
Then how can I use 2 dongles as you suggested
how about a setup without secondary keyboard?..
This uses the same Keyboard being used for all 3 PC's...I just click the button that responds to the system being used...you can use a different keyboard if you wish though...
Does this keyboard light up?
No there's no RGB or backlighting for this keyboard.
