Socialising is overrated. Why do you need to spend time with others anyway? Just stay home, order some nice food in, turn on the console and AC. Life couldn’t be better. Spending time at a party or outdoors sounds like torture tbh.

NYC ichiran shops had the porcelain boxes for their ramen bowls until a little after covid and then they went back to a regular bowl

I really could never get used to eat like that, coming from a country with very communal traditions, I always loved eating with my family, this would feel really really lonely even if the food looks really good

I love the special Ichiran in the box shaped bowls too, but it is possibly the heaviest oiliest and saltiest ramen I have had in the years of being here.
I only finished half the broth and I woke up in the middle of the night with sodium overload. I had to drink 3 bottles of water and make friends with the toilet for an hour after eating this.
I am a vegetarian since my childhood never ate any form of meat. Can you please tell me best ramen shops in tokyo for vegetarian? And if ichiran have the option of veg ramen ?

If you visit Ichiran in NYC, it's the only location of Ichiran with a vegan ramen. I've tried both and actually prefer the vegan one :)

i know if i went to here or to any other ramen shop, i would always have either pork, beef, or chicken, a hard boiled egg (sorry if this bothers people), and a bit of black garlic oil

I've had ramen so many times at restaurants and I always thought the broth too noodle ratio was too high. It never occurred too me that I could order more noodles without broth too finish my ramen.
How did one find out that the refill costs extra? (If you don‘t know Japanese)
Ask the clerk and he will tell you. There are many people who can speak English at Ichiran.
This is good because I don't want to be judged by how I eat.
I'm sure the food is delicious but sitting there it feels alienating...

In Japan, half of the people still pay in cash. However, many people use QR code payment in addition to credit cards.😊

There are no Japanese people going to the Ichiran. It's a restaurant with a Japanese atmosphere for foreigners.
Also available in Hong Kong. Was great, they are also expanding to instant variety but its not that great compared to the original one.

Unlike in countries, where customers tend to dine in 2 or 4's, Japan has a lot of single diners, most of them are maybe office workers who dun have the time to engage in a conversation while they eat during lunchtime, so they prefer to eat alone quickly and go back to work i guess. Some is just lonely and lives alone and dines alone.

Ichiran Ramen is basically the McDonald’s of the ramen world. It’s not that good. There’s so many other shops in Hakata, Osaka and Tokyo. I didn’t make my way up to Sapporo but I’m sure there’s awesome ramen shops up there was well.
