- It was the condenser. Replaced it and everything went well.
At the start of the video, the unit has been already running for about one minute. The fan picks up speed eventually, but it does so very very slowly. It's barely noticeable. It reaches full speed toward the end though.
The fan motor or fan run capacitor is bad. don't let the unit just sit there with no fan because the compressor will overheat and the system can break down.
Vann Berg Yes, that's what it was! After replacing the capacitor, it runs like new.
Vann Berg , is there a way to test the fan motor? I've replaced the cap on a similar unit. it starts much quicker than this video, but still struggles at the start. don't know if it's always been like that and ok, or if the fan motor is on its way out.
Felix Stanek where did you find the part number for this unit
@@tommycage5457 RepairClinic dotcom will help you locate exact replacement parts if you can find the make and model number of your outdoor AC unit. They have parts for washing machines, refrigerators, etc.
Does my slow-to-start fan need oil on its motor driveshaft? I replaced the bad capacitor because it was bad, but the fan does not start spinning quickly - slow and drags unless I five it a couple of boosts with a flat stick through the vent. It works fine after that, except my AC has not stopped at all because of the hot weather, so, I do not know if it will hang up again like it is in sludge and maybe needs oil?
Replace the capacitor and the contactor in mine still does the same thing
Oil the fan motor
Stiff bearings, needs oil
