Sharpness to Maisemore Weir - Take 2
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- Despite 12 months of meticulous preparations, Wye Invader Two made an unsuccessful attempt to navigate to Maisemore Weir 2 weeks ago. On Saturday 17th October 2020 the conditions looked right to make another attempt. This video is a record of that attempt, which has only been successful by a handful of narrowboats in the past 30 years or so.
Didn’t realise so much happened on our river. Thank you for the knowledge ☺️
Hello!
10.06.22.
Hardy Navigator
I was the person you passed today at Haw Bridge pontoon. I don't think you could hear what I was saying. I just wanted to thank you for your excellent videos.
We were heading down to Gloucester from Upton.
Kind regards.

Boat "Wychwon"
Sorry about that Peter and thanks for your comments. As usual, we were just in a hurry going nowhere. Talking to ourselves.
Great video. You have rich and calming voice. Thank you. - If you need a haircut, stand up now.
I love the Severn .Great video you really showed the power of the river .Well done 👍👍
Really enjoyed watching your skills and insights. Scary but super fun! Well done!!
Hi boys, When some one local i was chatting to said a canal boat boat was on the severn heading up gloucester way,I just knew it was wye invader 2 👍 you boys cease to amaze me with your travels also I knew you had checked Your passage plan again and again👍
Keep The video s coming great stuff, see you on canal soon👏👏
That was quite a ride 🌊 but fair play to both of you, perfect preparation prevents p**s poor performance etc, etc 👍
Great watch 👍
Thanks
I wonder if that's why they went to the trouble of building the Gloucester Sharpness Canal?
Gentlemen, again you make it look so easy....it was good to see the note at the end about the amount preparation and planning you did. You’ve created a whole new genre of extreme narrow boating 😁 When you were moving around the debris and mentioned your anchor and if the prop were to get damaged....it brings it home how unforgiving this river is. I can’t imagine the terror of being stuck there especially on a Spring tide.
Besides the anchor and not mentioned in the video, we also carry a spare propeller, a multi-channel VHF radio and a full set of the latest Admiralty charts.
WOW!!! Your video had me gripping the sides of my chair all the way! Really AWESOME you guys!
I think you both deserved the Silver Propeller for the 2 rides. I am very impressed with the trip.
As the last Skipper of Inlandnavigationvessel "Zilvermeeuw" and later renamed "Wye Invader" from 12 December 1988 to 13 March 2013, I would like to thank you for your compliment.
Thanks for a great, detailed record of this unusual trip. The river towards Maisemore actually looks better than the eastern channel north of the lower parting where your previous video showed a great deal of overhanging foliage.
don't forget the air draft on the Bridges.
Where did you stop? Did you run all the way up to lower lode, and had the tide turned by that point?
Fantastic vlog
Professional job.
