    This channel has opened my eyes. I have always wanted to travel and I love Thailand and would love to just hop around from city to city. Love the temples and calmness of the people there. It's like heaven to me. I have also done a bit of online work years ago and after watching your $600 a month living in Chang Mai video, I think I can do this! Thanks for the videos they are very watchable, you are good at this. You have opened my eyes to a world of possibilities.

    Excellent video, nice work. Very informative, especially love the advice regarding the influence the people you spend the most time with (not necessarily your 'best friends') have on you and who you're becoming. Tim Ferriss is a major advocate of the importance in understanding this relationship. Chris, your point on channels like yours and Riley's serving as a helpful influence to folks who are in the early stages of transitioning from a work then live lifestyle to a work and live (Create an online based business, mainly).
    I'm looking forward to enrolling in the Course Riley & Parker are coming out with.

    Finally, after 25 years working as a senior exec in several Fortune 500 companies, I have finally unplugged and gone digital nomadic. Finding the right skills that suits you and then developing it will be challenging for many of you. I tried many over a 5 year period before finally settling on "day-trading" as my passion. Now I can live a life of freedom and travel the world meeting like-minded folks like you without having to compromise on my income. Go nomadic guys and open your mind to a world of wonderful experiences. You have one life so don't be a slave to the system! - The voice of experience.

      If you live in a rural area, coding is probably the best thing to get into. You can learn online/by yourself and then get hired to work online, remotely. Like you lay low and learn your stuff over a couple of yearsand instantly put yourself into a much better tax bracket afterwards.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

      Back then, it was different. The few people i heard calling themselves digital nomad made ten of thousands of dollars each month or theyre practically millionaires. They can live and really go anywhere.
      Now anyone can get a $100 dollar adwords coupon, read a book or two, or sell $50,000 worth of stuff online but only profited $300 and call themselves digital nomad.
      I think the real digital nomad are the ones that can really live anywhere in the world. Hence the word nomad and not just living in thailand or south east asia, but people can call themselves whatever they want.

    • @ChristheFreelancer
      @ChristheFreelancer  8 років тому +2

      I get ya. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you feel), the term digital nomad is no longer reserved for just location independent entrepreneurs. If that's all you are interested in, I can see why the influx of freelancers and remote workers might disappoint some but at the end of the day, the movement is not reserved for any one person of group.

    If you are thinking about taking a formal education approach for web development I defiantly agree with what he said that you're gonna end up learning outdated techniques and spend a shit load of money. I am currently in school for web development and design and graduate next month and a surprising amount of the things we learned are very outdated. If you do go just be aware that you are spending that money just to say you have a degree which is a plus but your money can be better spent on more up to date courses online at some off the sites he listed.

    hey Chris! my girlfriend and I were in Chiang mai last October and I could swear we saw you doing an interview outside this one cafe. it's by happenstance that I stumbled across your channel last week. your tips/channel are propelling our goals forward and with some luck the resources you have graciously provided will get us prepared for our journey into the world of nomadic living. I'm sure you get it a lot but I'd like to pick your brain at some point if there is a way to do that get back to me. maybe we will get lucky and cross paths and if have a success story to share with you and your subscribers. keep up the good work
    Ed and Jess

    Keep up the good work. Very inspiring channel. I'm currently a dev in a company in Silicon Valley so it looks like the learning how to code part is more or less taken care of. I'd like to try to go nomad one day and maybe share the adventures on youtube as well!
