- Have you ever seen a fight between a Whitetail and a Mule Deer? This footage was captured by the camo cameras out in Montana during the rut while out hunting. It's not a Passion. It's an Obsession

I think the whitetails antlers are more dangerous. They're purpose built for stabbing. Mule deer antlers are a little bit more ornate.
100%. And wt are more aggressive, but, this was a small muley too.
Maybe they're ornate but they're still deadly. I have a mule-deer rack and the points are needle-sharp. He had definitely been rubbing, sharpening his weapons.

To be honest that was a mature 5+yo whitetail vs a young 1-2 yo mule deer.
If you put a mature mule deer vs a mature whitetail I would probably take the mule deer.
Although whitetails tend to be a bit more aggressive, the mule deer will def have the size advantage and horn size for intimidation.
Kinda like a small mouth bass vs a large mouth. A 5 pound small mouth fights like 10 pound large mouth. If small mouth grew as big as large mouth, you would need a chain to drag a 15 lb small mouth in.
Whitetail bucks are some of the toughest animals there are. We have skinned a big mature whitetail out and found a four blade broad head lodged into the spin and it appeared it had been there for years. Deer had been walking around like nothing ever happened. Crazy

Both Deer are young in this video that is not a 5 year old whitetail. A whitetail would win 9 out of 10 times in a fight since their antlers are pointed forward and are made to penetrate its opponent. Mule deer are a less aggressive species and have ornamental antlers that stick back and are not meant to jab like a whitetails. Mule deer might get lucky and win a fight but realistically they would take too much damage from a whitetail rack and lose. I love Mule deer but they wouldn’t stand a chance against a whitetail.
@@primer3458 I agree size isn’t a factor in this fight. It’s like someone saying a golden retriever would beat a pitbull in a fight cause of size. White tails are just more natural born fighters

@spencerbowe9099 It is true, white tails and mule deer overlap a lot in size. Both averaging around 220ish lbs at mature weights. Whitetails are also bigger at max sizes. Though slightly smaller on average a whitetail is a far more aggressive deer, and mulies are fairly shy.

Thats one of the reasons why we dont find white tailed deer in Yellowstone as they compete with mule deers, but small population of whote taileds do live in Yellowstone but these are actualy crossbreeds, meaning they are half white tailed and mule
White tail also just favor different environments like forest over plains and mountainous terrain, there's exceptions but for the most part they stay out of each other's way

That was interesting but if you get the chance to watch two giant 300 lbs. plus muleys go at it high n the Rockies, you'll know why whitetail bucks won't stand a chance against a mature muley buck. Blacktail along the Cascades west of Winthrop WA can get close to 400 lbs. keeping the big muley bucks on the eastern side of the Cascades. Whitetail are amazing deer but the bigger stronger buck usually wins.
Mule and Whitetail deer overlap a lot in size. It's not too uncommon for a mature 5+ year buck to approach 300+ lbs, same with mule deer, but both average closer to 200-250. A whitetails real advantage comes into play with just how aggressive they are compared to the much more shy mule deer. At mature weights I'd pit my money on a Whitetail maybe 6-7/10 times

You literally have no fucking idea what you're talking about. Just stop. That was a 3 year old WT and a yearling MD. A mature MD is on average 15% larger than a mature WT.
