I just bought a Sharp branded flat CRT 27in tv, a tv stand for it with a glass casing, a PC Engine with one controller, and a Turbo Everdrive all for $170 from ebay, ali express, and offer up hunting. This blue TerraOnion cost how much again??
Oh man, the Pc Engine/TurboGrafx still put the SNES to shame here and there. What a system! Just like the Genesis was better at shooters the Pc Engine has that arcade feel. I played Bonk's Adventure for the first time recently and although Mario 1/2/3 are classics this felt like a step up visually (I understood the 'hype'). There is an anime called 'High Score Girl' which is about arcade games in the early 90s and in the second episode the main character tries to convince someone that the Pc Engine was the arcade experience at home and it gets this loving tribute as if it's still revered as one of the all time greats (if you're into anime and games please check that series out!). The historic context of this console fascinates me :) Oh and the add-on would be the answer to all my problems, but it's expensive, and because the demographic is fairly small it will not lower in price any time soon I fear..
There is no need to have HDMI out. The RGB out on the EXT-BUS can be put to the right signal voltage with a fairly cheap booster, and those flat TV's with RGB input are now A) super cheap, like 25€ or so, and B) outperform most LCD TV's in terms of IQ, and C) do a great job in upscaling. Although even then I love to hook it up to a CRT. That certainly las some unbeatable quality to it.
I did think 720p is a bit odd... because like you said, why not just do 1080p since every TV would support that too...but as you can see by the footage, it still looks amazing.
Cuz I often forget what the funky button combination is to reset a system...especially when they are all just a little different OR I haven't fired up the console in a while. It's nice to just reach over and hit a button. Simple. It works.
@@MetalJesusRocks Just an FYI you can swap the case from the SSDS3 onto the SHDS3P. @@codo8584 Not true. Emulation, "emulates" system calls on high or low level, most of the time a combination of both. An FPGA can be programmed to replicate the exact circuitry in order to be functionally the same as the original hw. That isn't emulation, it's functional cloning.
@@sawyermade5469 Emulation: "reproduction of the function or action of a different computer, software system" an FPGA even if it can be programmed to function identically to original hardware, it *isn't* that original hardware
I prefer to stick with my PC Engine Duo and CRT, I have no interest in playing these old school games on a HDTV, it doesn't sit well with me. Even when I emulate I do it via my modded Wii which can output 240p to my CRT, its a much more authentic way to go IMO.
We are the CRT crew. A dying breed. That's ok by me
it has analogue out though. I had mine attached to my PVM and my regular CRT.
Expensive device, but super cool.
7:00 LOL I thought those were Golden Turds before you even said it
Hey Metal Jesus! just droping by to politely ask you to record a video on your opinion about the "videogame collectors bubble" that is forming acording to Karl Jobst, i'd love to hear your input into all of this! ty!
Damn that looks great
Will you be at pax this year?
I just bought a Sharp branded flat CRT 27in tv, a tv stand for it with a glass casing, a PC Engine with one controller, and a Turbo Everdrive all for $170 from ebay, ali express, and offer up hunting. This blue TerraOnion cost how much again??
more consoles should get stuff like this
Oh man, the Pc Engine/TurboGrafx still put the SNES to shame here and there. The historic context of this console fascinates me :)
Oh and the add-on would be the answer to all my problems, but it's expensive, and because the demographic is fairly small it will not lower in price any time soon I fear..
I bought a pcengine after seeing this. Core units are still affordable. Knowing this can get me to hdmi.... even better
How is the weight loss coming along?
For the price, it should offer more than 720p.
I did think 720p is a bit odd... because like you said, why not just do 1080p since every TV would support that too...but as you can see by the footage, it still looks amazing.
@@MetalJesusRocks the footage does, for sure. But it might not do on some TVs that don't handle 720p as well as 1080p.
MetalJesus i need to know why you like the physical reset button
Cuz I often forget what the funky button combination is to reset a system...especially when they are all just a little different OR I haven't fired up the console in a while. It's nice to just reach over and hit a button. Simple. It works.
@@MetalJesusRocks ok awesome that really does make sense 😆 thanks for the reply btw love this channel
@@MetalJesusRocks Just an FYI you can swap the case from the SSDS3 onto the SHDS3P. You only need keep the blue back plate that has the cut outs for the HDMI / reset switch. not a perfect solution but it's nice if you have one of those transparent smoked shells from Retro Game Restore for the PC Engine.
@@MetalJesusRocks Nosh abroad's comment is worth a re-read because it is an awesome solution ,,,👍
i contacted with terraonion and they said it"s not working with turbografx 16.. wtf!
In a parallel universe there is a GamerJesusRocks and on his channel he only listens to Metal music
MJ this is pretty cool! I wonder what shipping to Japan would be...
but at least it doesn't smell like cancer. or convince you it's gonna burn your house down.
This is true! 😂
@@MetalJesusRocks and no demonic penguins ,,,😈
Huh. No mention of the NES core vaporware. I was willing to pay the high price because that was a promised feature but it has yet to release.
Some of the sync issues were fixed the the older product over time, and now they are shipping a product with it broken again. I wonder if there is still noise from accessing the micro SD card as well.
RIP Charlie Watts of #RolingStones at 80...😢😢😭
Nice
I was the odd ball in school that had a TG16, along with one more kid. We used to trade games between each other all the time. If you ask me, if you’re even remotely interested in it, figure you buy 2 super cd games, and it’s the equivalent of buying the SHDSpro. It’s so expensive now. And you don’t have to spend money on RGB boards either. I it’s
Totally worth it.
The blue color is fuckin trash though. They must have been blazed when they made that decision.
Can we get. Replacement case? I’d be down for that.
5:26 Not a fan personally, but the feature being included is respectable none theless.
Can't wait until GTA V is released for the TurboGrafx
😂
Good channel love you Man ❤️🎮👾🕹️
That RGB port is an analog output.
i was one of the only people i ever knew in my town that had a TG16 at the time..I think I only had 2 games. Sold it off along with my other consoles way back when..Wish I hadnt but thats the case for everyone that sells things off..
300!!!
I'm in Seattle til Saturday. What Pink Gorilla stores does Kelsey own?
Wonder how this device compare to the upcoming Analogue Duo in terms of graphics and gameplay.
I couldn’t tell if the module has the games on it or you need the cards and it just upscales
