That's beautiful and also perfectly dumb. Stop exploiting animals. Wild birds are disappearing like the rest of wild life. Let them free, this is their best life.
Do people still do this, 2009-2013 we're the best years on this planet. And I virtually missed it. It's 2022 now And no one does stuff like this anymore. This video is amazing to see. Today is Halloween, it's also my birthday, this video has made my day.
Yes they do I was just brought here by a YT short of a man in Brazil doing it but I thought this was a new thing.. I’d never heard of parahawking until now it looks like such a cool experience tho. 🤍
This is still one of my absolute favorite videos on UA-cam. The scenery and music never get old. Thank you for always allowing it to brighten my day. ❤️
Please don't ever take this video down. Since it was posted 12 years ago, I've watched it over and over and it's gotten me through some of the most difficult times of my life.
Animal lovers should like the peaceful interaction and requisite love between the bird and his handler....there's no figuring out anyone who would dislike this inspiring video.
am part of an education program at the BBHC museum in Cody, Wyoming, and have learned to be a bird handler for our programs. I love just standing around with a bird on my glove. This is WAY cool!!!!
Thank you for your comment. I must agree. All our birds are free to leave anytime. As a result of their training, they are better hunters and more capable to survive. Raptors have an extremely hard life. Many only survive a year or two in the wild. Sometimes our birds do choose to leave and it's extremely heartbreaking for us to know we may never see them again. But that's why it means so much every day they chose to stay. Are you vegan?
nine years late but whatever I was reading this and was touched, but that sudden "are you vegan?" question threw me off so much I laughed. A instant new topic that has nothing to do with what you were saying!
A moving tribute, but the vegan question threw me. It was so unexpected I started to gut laugh. I'm still laughing. Wtf. Though not to ruin the moment for the naysayers, but yes, actually I am! Still not sure of the relevancy, however...
Yep decades vegan and used to rehab hawks so they would not end up living in a state forest services exhibit. One came back and sat on our porch for years and the fledglings came back and learned from mom and stayed with us for years and hung out on our back porch. I had my first paragliding flight with a hawk that joined me today. Made me miss our old friends.
How could anyone not like this video?? It's fantastic! Those of us sitting at our computers watching it are jealous. Don't get why 35 people disliked it - they must just look for something to put down, but this is a great video and no way, no how can they put it down. Thanks for sharing!
Those are the Torrey Pines Cliffs over Blacks Beach! I know, I have walked that beach, hiked those trails, swam in those waters naked, climbed those cliffs; It's a beautiful spot! Thank you for this video, you brought tears to my eyes! The beauty of the birds, their trust in you. I so wish I could do this.
Oh yes I do wanted to go for my AA birthday... My first marriage my husband was a skilled falconer we had them and I helped make hoods , feed them ECT I always keep the blessed moments and let go of the bad memories . I have some photos of Michael and I e of his birds .They are the fastest ever ...and to hold one without a glove means the bird trust you .I have a photo of the Great Horned Owl I raised without ever being in a cage ...still want to go flying beside these amazing birds .
INCREDIBLE!!! Nice animal-human spirit bond. I have a commercial pilot license ... but this looks as if it would be a whole 'nuther hoot. Nice videography, too. Cheers, from flat-land Florida
A true bird's eye view. And what a transformative and enlightening view it is! No wonder the dinosaurs traded the land for the sky... and so kind of their descendants to show us the way.
Isn't that absolutely fantastic. I really wish I could get started in this sport to fly quietly with the birds, the wind, the views and away from modern life down below.
@marquisartistic1 This is in San Diego, CA at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. A beautiful place to go and just watch these guys float over the cliffs and the Pacific. I live in San Diego and need to go there more often since I take its beauty for granted!
Great stuff. Wish I could do something like that. And since a got a Harris Hawk allready the only thing left for me to do is to start paragliding ;-). Looks more difficult than training a hawk...
they also train hawks and falcons with kites and lures up to several thousand feet.. very impressive to spectate.. saw it once where a falcon was hovering above the kite and lure and the lure was remotely dropped and the falcon swooped down and caught the the lure in the air.. amazing
Fantastic, thank you for the great video. I have flown my hang glider with eagles here in Oz and it is a wonderful feeling. Sometimes they find lift and save your arse, and other times they join you in your thermal like brothers. They'll also give your sail a rip if you intrude on their nesting territory.
This is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing your world with us. The music, the area and the falcons, too! What an existential journey for me. Love you, son, even though I don’t say it enough!
This is just a quick reminder of how theres so much more to Life besides work and making $. I feel like if somebody suffering from depression tried this, it would be their cure. Just watching this almost makes me choke up a little. Birds are beautiful and its so cool to see them interact with humans this way. Although they are probably thinking "haha look at these humans thinking they can fly!" I bet when they land and after they have some food, they think "this is magical!"
this reminds me of the movie, Fly Away Home, where a father and his daughter fly some small airplanes to guide a group of orphaned geese back south for winter.
@XshadowX0eXeSe The "huge backpacks" are actually padding to protect the pilot in case of a mishap during launch or landing. There's rarely an issue but the padding is way better than landing hard on your butt and can save you from getting a sore back or a broken tail bone etc.
Yet again my friend Scotsoft29 send me a link to another great video, well done guys! This kinda looks like the airborne version of swimming with dolphins!
Why do people on the internet pretend they know what they are talking about? Bird training is positive reinforcement, it has to be since the bird can fly away whenever it wants to (and if you aren't a good trainer they will) They keep coming back because they get fed, by keeping the morsels small you encourage them to come back repeatedly training the behavior you want and the bird is happy to return for free food each time.
I am crying... as a Falconer of 25 years plus... this makes my heart sing... THANKYOU
How have I not seen this before ? OMG I am crying too
I'm a Falcon 🦅
Weak bitch
I know, right ? Who could ever imagine flying with a Bird ? I'm crying too :)
That's beautiful and also perfectly dumb. Stop exploiting animals. Wild birds are disappearing like the rest of wild life. Let them free, this is their best life.
This is a priceless video, when nature and a human fly together as one. Awesome!!!

I have watched this video dozens of times and never tire of the majesty of this magnificent bird. She is awesome!
This blows my mind! I do not know what else to say. Spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being in touch with nature's greatest hunters. Now that's cool.
I've watched this video over and over again. It's just so incredible. What a gorgeous bird.

PETA people probably. A provably pernicious pox on pleasant pursuits.
This is officially on my bucket list. Right after I get over my fear of heights. That looks so cool!
I thought the exact same thing ! Bucket List, hahahaaa
What a beautiful post. I would love to be able to do that. Sharing the skies with Gods graceful creatures. AWESOME!!
Beautiful! The way humans & animals can interact together, peacefully, and enjoy planet Earth together.
Nice job Phil, Dave and Kirk.
Brilliant video. Looks amazing. The Tandem Pilot at 1.31 looks more intrested in posing for the camera than the Bird of Prey!!!! Great video.
That is incredible. You can't get much closer to nature then this, you and your birds are beautiful. Sonoma Photos, Larry Flagg.
What an awesome video. You can tell these guys really love these birds. Me too
Phil,
You are the master of aerial photography. Proud to know you.

Phil, Kurt, Dave, that is awesome. Editing is great.
INCREDIBLE!!! Nice animal-human spirit bond.
I have a commercial pilot license ... but this looks as if it would be a whole 'nuther hoot.
Nice videography, too. Cheers, from flat-land Florida
Que du reve bravo avec une musique magique
A Pleasure to watch, must be an added thrill to have a Falcon to fly with. Imaging it identifying thermals. Awesome
That is truely the icing on the cake for our sport! Sharing the same elements together.
Thankyou for sharing that.
I dream to do the same trip, flying like a birds and see the world fron above
It's short but beautiful like as the music
A true bird's eye view. And what a transformative and enlightening view it is! No wonder the dinosaurs traded the land for the sky... and so kind of their descendants to show us the way.

That's cool. I used to fly my hang gliders there years ago, and the hawks were born and raised flying alongside of us. Ravens too.
they also train hawks and falcons with kites and lures up to several thousand feet.. very impressive to spectate..
saw it once where a falcon was hovering above the kite and lure and the lure was remotely dropped and the falcon swooped down and caught the the lure in the air.. amazing
That's so freakin cool.
Wow. Adding that to my bucket list and I'm only like in my twenties. Hey its never to early to start.

This just made the top of my bucket list

Whats not to like! Very cool thanks for sharing!
What a nice Video!
Very touching!
There is para gliding off the dunes and kite surfing and surf sail boarding off of NC on the outer banks. Check it out. Great sport there.
as a Harris' falconer and a helicopter pilot, I know the bird's love this!!!!!
no idea, its amazing and the music is so nice,
Thank you for sharing such an inspiring and pure experience with us!
It must be nice for that bird to be able to take a break mid-flight! Those wings are no joke!
that is absolute magic.... thank you so much for posting it
Added this to bucket list.

That was really a beautiful piece of film, thanks for the inspiration.!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely incredible! Feeling a strong urge to start Hanggliging again.
this video is too good to be on youtube, it should be on vimeo
Wow thats a BIG Harris' Hawk...wonder if it could soar around with about 67g on a marshall trackpack? A RT at 1340g flying weight had no problems.
Way way Cool! And filmed right here in my back yard ! I think I might just take up this sport. Torrey pines and East County of San Diego Ca. USA
Armonia entre Animales y Humanos! Inspira calma y conexion!
this reminds me of the movie, Fly Away Home, where a father and his daughter fly some small airplanes to guide a group of orphaned geese back south for winter.
That is so awesome!!!!

Wonderful video. The beautiful connection between humans and animals.
Amazing the bond you have ......
Cool video. Kinda looks like a Harrier hawk.
