    I spent 3 months at Fort Lewis. DMO was actually stationed there back in the 90's. We want to get up there, as soon as gas prices come down. Thank you for the video. Great agates.

    This is the second time I've watched this, intentionally. This is one of my favorite videos of yours. I would crap if I found an agate that big and that blue that the lady from the rock club found. You all found some amazing pieces and it looked like such a fun day. Thank you for sharing this!✌️🤠

      That was a great day and one I will never forget, there was one more person that day and about halfway he let us know he could not go any further. Old age is one of those things. One day I will be that guy! I felt so bad for him that night!

      @@QuartzCowboy that is sad. I have rheumatoid arthritis, diagnosed right before I turned 33, almost 19 years ago. So I'm already there too. I push myself too hard and pay for it for the next few days, but it's always worth it when rockhounding or time with family. I totally get it though. Health and age are tough when they get it the way of life.😞 Take care.😊

    baker hot spring at the end! me and the fam havent been there since summer 2004, looks much the same. there was a small group that came after dusk, candle holders dug in the wall next to spring illuminating. the few couples were C.O. but was pretty dark. meanwhile another small gathering with bonfire right off the road below trail and a hobo cookout was goin there, shared stuff. good times . . .

    I just watched this whole video (it was pretty scenery) and never saw the blue agate pictured in the thumbnail! Wth?!

    • @QuartzCowboy
      @QuartzCowboy  3 роки тому

      Sorry about that, the agate in the thumbnail WAS found at this exact location, but not that day. If you really want to see it I can tell you which video was in. Some days we don't find much so I was borrowing it as a thumbnail since I found a few beauties on that day.

      It is a bit of a hike in, just over 1 mile. We actually had one guy from this day had knee issues and could not make it in, had to go back to the car and wait for his friends. We were really sad to realise it was one of his last times to go hounding!
      I know I will be that guy some day!

      @@QuartzCowboy I don't think that's possible, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean. Blue agate only comes from one area in washington, the same as blue lace agate is only found in nambia, or South Africa. Are you talking about blue chalcedony? Actually it's quartz not chalcedony. Most blue in agates is done with dyeing, as I said actual blue agate only comes from Washington, the third rarest gem in the world, my mother rest her soul, loved that stone, had many pieces made with it, she loved the ones she found most even though they weren't actually that good of a stone. Her most expensive was a stone the length of the distance from knuckle to knuckle on her middle finger a good inch long perfectly set. So the title threw me, Mt Baker is in Washington and in the right area, as I grew up around there, my old stomping grounds so to speak. Found my first stone, not far from there on eastern side of the pass going towards Yakima.
      Sorry I digressed a little there, how did you mean a sister stone?

      its come down the rivers from the mountatins that is why you can pick it up on the beach it is blue because it is silicate based probably leftover from mt hood eruptions nad yes very rare only found a few places and has a ton of uses
