I stumbled upon this by accident. It was suggested on my home page and I thought it looked interesting. But … I got so much more than I expected. This was deeply heartwarming, encouraging and inspiring. I didn’t expect to hear this very unique analogy on resilience- but I definitely needed it. I’m glad I came across it today. Thank you, Andy.
I loved how he put the inflatable on bed than blow it up with air and showed it having enthusiasm for life again. That was the best part. Absolutely loved it. It carries the message so well.
I love that in that final flip of breaking glass, the pose that stands out is so dramatic -- like the slide was saying "TADA! Look at this magnificent, fragile work of art!"
You're not just an animator, you're an amazing storyteller! I've always loved the carefree but grounded nature of a balloon man, but never seen the angle you put out, of his resilience from constantly getting filled up by the things that make him who he is. ☺️
I was really inspired by your son, seeing the flipbook from the opposite angle as you, and seeing this yellow trail that was happening and questioning whether your whole intention could be flipped upside down and flipped the flipbook backwards to enjoy that even more than front. I think to be really creative. We have to stop assuming that our intentions when creating art or even correct. Things have to be able to change, and we have to be able to find things from a new perspective and value that potentially more than what we thought we were setting out to do.,
I screenshot this comment and saved it to my favorites. This was a beautiful thought, thank you for sharing this. And thanks @andymation for making this video
I came for the glass, I stayed for the incredibly inspiring philosophy of the inflatable tube man. This is my first video of yours but wow am I impressed by the beauty of the storytelling here! Thank you!
Andy, I was deeply moved by the emotional vulnerability you poured into this piece. It felt like your dedication to your artistic craft gave you a safe space to explore difficult feelings. It seemed like the love you share with your family allowed you to prioritiez your shared experience with them (and us) with out getting too precious with the thing you had spent countless hours crafting. instead you allowed us to feel joy, anguish, excitement, connection, loss, and hope all simultaneously. Thank you for crafting such a beautiful story. You inspire me
This is so inspiring. You took a concept like a balloon man and used it to show how it is so resilient and always Comes back and is also fragile like glass. This video is easily my favorite. Thank you.
I think its because he gets to live out his absolute dream everyday with very few compromise. Its all so authentic. The more and more I analyze the world, authenticity is the most inspirational quality that a human can possess. All of this is just my interpretation of course.
Art is so vulnerable and I appreciate you sharing your whole story, not just the successes but your doubts and fears, giving a small piece of your struggle allows space to feel connection. Thank you. I feel less alone. ❤
This is one of the most inspirational videos I’ve watched in a while Andy. Thank you for this. Let’s just enjoy every frame while it lasts, and hope you get a few unbroken moments to cherish. Be kind, make art. ✌🏼
This is sincerely an AMAZING video. Not just for the making of the glass flipbook but the quality message you just gave. Amazing. Truly wish there were more content creators like you! :)
While flipping the glass pages and hearing “do it again, Dad. Keep going!” There’s your constant force. I hadn’t seen you prior to this video coming up on my homepage, and I’m so glad it did. Amazing.
I happened to see this on the trailing end of a panic attack, and it's so meaningful.. especially when what helped me out of it was the 'filling force' of my girlfriend being there for me and loving me so much. thank you.
Very inspirational, Andy. I saw the runtime and expected a crazy step-by-step breakdown of a charming, quirky balloon man animation. What I was not expecting was to take an existential journey. I've been through a lot of ups and downs these past two0 years. Currently, I am in a rehab facility, on week 3 post-amputation of my left leg. It was the inevitable conclusion of those two years. And your "fragile balloon man" story really hit home for me. We can always bounce back, even when things get so down we cannot imagine them possibly getting any worse. I have spent the last three weeks pushing myself as hard as I can, because when I go home, I'm all that I have. No family, no close friends. Thank you for the inspiration, Andy. And well done on the flipbook. It looked amazing.
showed this video to my therapist and he started crying, said he'd never felt so seen and understood before in all seriousness tho this was such a cool concept, I don't know much about art but I feel like the fact that this piece would inevitably break apart while being viewed really adds to the meaning of it
The slo-mo breaking was really kool to see! Thanks for putting in the effort. Its also really special to see how your boys are just as excited to see the outcome, GREAT WORK! 👍
Finally, the youtube algorithm brings a gold mine🌟 This is the first video I've ever seen from you, courtesy of the algorithm, and as a photographer and a film enthusiast, you're a great storyteller. Not just the editing, the filmography (that camera fast-forward camera pan is perfect), but also the way you formed an idea and the way you told the story was just like one by a good writer. And of course, great flipbook skills. You got talent sir. Subscribed. 🫡
This is a masterpiece. Every "imperfection" captured here functioned as a blessing, which makes this whole short film all the more special (calling it a "video" feels inadequate). Thank you for being compassionate, wise and trusting enough to include your children in such a delicate passion project - making for one of my favourite moments as a unique perspective was pointed out. I hope what you've created here helps you as much as it helps others; your timeless art is sure to keep any soul from feeling deflated! PS: I'm someone with zero interest in flipbooks, but just as some of my favourite filmmakers invested me in sport-oriented drama... you've captivated me completely, and I thank you for that!
I love that you even conceptualized such a project. That you actually got it off the drawing board is just crazy. If you ever had the gumption or interest, I'd love for someone to replicate and demonstrate the 5,200 year old animation painted on a clay cup unearthed in Iran. I think it's an astonishing artifact, and you seem like the man to bring it to a wide audience. The oldest verifiable animation on Earth!
Hi Andy, I love your storytelling ability-- taking something as mundane as a balloon man and filling it with your own narrative. A narrative that a lot of us can relate to. Thank you for sharing this story. Hope that all is well!
This is so cool! The concept of a glass flip book is so ingenious, and the metaphor that goes along with the balloon man is very well portrayed! Keep up the great work!! :)
Oh my goodness. I think this is your best video of all time! I mean, all of your videos are good; I've enjoyed all of them. But this one, just wow! The symbolism! The spirituality! The message! The art! All tied in so perfectly with the glass medium and tube-man subject. Perfection!
This video made me happy in a way I can't quite explain. Between the music, the theme, and the cinematography, it just felt nostalgic for me. It was more than just making a flipbook, it was a short film that has inspired me to be more like a flappy tube man. No matter how weird that may sound.
I love everything about this. The concept, the storytelling, the editing, the animation itself. Thank you for making this! I randomly got this in my recommended a few weeks back and really enjoyed it, but don't usually comment on UA-cam. However, for whatever reason a thought about this popped into my head while having a shower yesterday haha, and I figured I would leave it here in case it is useful for you or another artist: if you have access to a 3D printer, maybe you could design some sort of compliant hinge that the glass panels slot into, allowing you to bend the pages further without them breaking. You could make the hinge stiff enough that the glass still has to bend a fair bit to preserve the flipbook feel. Although I think the flipbook shattering as you flip through it fits the message beautifully.
Andy you did such a great job even though the glass flipbook got destroyed in the end you still tried to make the creation work and your entire speech about the balloon man was very inspirational and I give that advice you gave a 5 star rating!
I just wanted to say I was very greatful to be entertained while also being encouraged spiritually! Thank you for being bold! Also you are very talented
I never imagined by your humble title how touching a video this would be. I regularly curate a list of videos to watch with my son and I look forward to showing him this one in the hopes that the very important message comes through. We all should be the fans to inflate each other's balloon spirits. Thank you so much.
Oh my goodness! The balloon man is maybe my favorite bit of roadside comedy (?)art (?)joy(?) He’s never ceased to make me laugh and the unbridled joy enthusiasm for life he expresses is just sublime 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I found you yesterday. I have been thinking about getting back into drawing. Life has taken me from drawing my classroom and all the objects and people in it in school to tattoo artistry, then into the workforce where I forgot all I knew about drawing. I came across your videos and you definitely made it a permanent decision to draw again. I've never done flip books but that is where I'm going to start. I very much appreciate you. Thank you for sharing your art and your life with us.
Wow thank you so much for this ! I watched this video thinking it would be interesting and fun since I am interested in glass, but I didn't expect it to be so heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It was the video I needed, at the time I needed it. Thanks again for this great message of resilience. And I also want to point out the amazing animation, so smooth ! It really made the balloon come to life. Great job !
Not only did you just show your inquiry and creativity, but you bared your soul for everyone. God bless your courage, God bless your curiosity and art.
I find beautiful your message and the way you're expressing about resilience. I discovered you a few years ago, and you are still so creative! It's always amazing and a pleasure to see your videos and your work. ❤
That was an awesome video, philosophically, creatively, and visually! And from the reaction of your kids, a whole bunch of fun. Thanks for all of that!!
Love the art, love the video, love the flip book, love the spiritual analogy: ‘rivers of living water will flow from within them’. Thank you for a beautiful, artistic and poetic video.
I was not expecting a heartwarming and relatable meditation on self-esteem and resilience when I clicked this video, but I'm so glad that's what I got. I really needed to hear this. Thank you.
You must always feed your soul to maintain your resilience. Thanks for this message. Ive been struggling with my self esteem and opening up to people and this shed a new perspective that could genuinely be lifechanging for me. Thanks.
Idk why UA-cam randomly recommended this video to me but I am glad it did. Every thing about it was just perfect from the quality of the camera, the music, the voiceover, the ballon man and everything else! I am in love with this channel, keep going❤
I seldomly comment youtube videos, but in this case it's just time. Dear Andy, I don't sketch, I found diffrent outlets for me. Love it! Your kids are gonna grow up to be some cool little dudes that have a cool dude for a dad! And definitely a super awesome mom! So good to see the family experiments!
@6:20 this shot is so good. because as it breaks you can see the projected future movements of the balloon man (on the next pages). you can see his destiny even has he fails to reach it, because of the breakage. maybe in some way then, he does reach it, in/through this prediction. there is some achievement within/despite the failure. great art, thanks
I've been putting off this video and finally decided to watch it today when I'm feeling sick and sh*tty. Thank you so much. The message in this video is very touching 😭 and I feel inspired to try my best again tomorrow
I feel like they broke more at the end. You need to leave some blank pages at the end to help the others not break. Also, I am curious if you cut the glass in half to make the glass skinnier if you could flex it more without breaking. 7:08
The music at the end expresses the feelings. The pain caused by watching your art, your efforts getting wrecked in front of you, and you can't do anything about it.
well andy bro this is really inspiring it randomly popped in the homepage and i saw this video damn i feel so happy , it reminds me that i have people around me who help me to be happy but what if i am alone i have to be out of my comfortable zone , and my resillient like the balloon guy , he is constantly up with that smile no matter what hits him through life , his constant connection with the wind helps him to be inflated with the soul of happiness , that spiritual touch of being connected with god is an amazing thing so yeah thanks andymation for this amazing video
Did I just got a life lesson, a touching metaphor, some chaotic art and a classic Andy flipbook in just one video? Amaizing!

Oh, I can tell the same... Very good one
How is bro so inspirational while just making a flipbook💀
Because even the simple things can inspire and help people
I think its because he gets to live out his absolute dream everyday with very few compromise. Its all so authentic. The more and more I analyze the world, authenticity is the most inspirational quality that a human can possess. All of this is just my interpretation of course.
I wish people would stop calling other people "bro" and call people by their real names. Stop talking like some dumb surfer dude.
Right
Tbh it just made me laugh
I cannot remember the last time I got touched by something that is told in such a simple yet meaningful way. Thanks Andy!

Such an emotional journey!
I went in thinking, "How cute." but ended with a tear in my eye.
That is true artistry!
Came for glass flipbook attempt, left with a deep metaphor that I can carry with me through the tough times in life. Thanks Andy!

Bro what is this? I was just expecting a cool flipbook, but I got hit with an in depth and inspirational therapeutic analogy?!
It’s about making art not what’s left behind. Creation is key , and art mimics life. Existential flip book so cool

well andy bro this is really inspiring
it randomly popped in the homepage and i saw this video damn
i feel so happy , it reminds me that i have people around me who help me to be happy but what if i am alone i have to be out of my comfortable zone , and my resillient like the balloon guy , he is constantly up with that smile no matter what hits him through life , his constant connection with the wind helps him to be inflated with the soul of happiness , that spiritual touch of being connected with god is an amazing thing
so yeah thanks andymation for this amazing video
I deal with deep depressions on the regular. This made me smile and feel better. Thank you man
