A little marimba ditty. Originally written for solo piano, this is a beautiful piece of music composed by Philip Glass. I saw a fellow classmate do this arrangement at his percussion recital at IU and I got inspired to do it myself. Enjoy!
PS - Sorry about the loud buzzing that gets louder and louder. My MacBook decided to be a bad audience member and was making lots of noise. Hope it isn't too distracting!

Glass's pieces almost always convey a certain subtle anxiety; in this piece it's almost nonexistent, & you've captured the softness & elusiveness of that perfectly. Such a wonderful performance.

I know this is a decade old, so I'm late getting to it, but it's gorgeous.

What's really nice about your performance is that the eighth vs. triplet rhythm in the piece is probably not something often encountered by pianists, but fairly routine for percussionists. You nailed it.

It's sensational. Like it was written for a percussionist.

Pianists do encounter that rhythm fairly often, but not as often as I imagine percussionists do. I think a big reason is because percussionists tend to play more modern pieces which have more complex polyrhythms. in any case, it was really well communicated!

@@SamuelCEllis Technically a piano is a percussion instrument because of the hammers striking the strings.

Sounds great, so subtle.... and what a fantastic skill one must have to play an instrument like this. Well done, Evan Chapman, I hope you record many more pieces by Philip Glass, they sound just right on marimba.

I remember seeing Philip Glass in concert in '82, as he was promoting this album . . I loved it . . and oddly, there were probably about the same amount of people in the audience then as have commented here on this piece . . But that being said, it allowed me the ability to leave my seat in the back, and step right up for a great seat . . . . Now excuse me while I move on and listen to Ennio Morricone's the Good, The Bad, and the Ugly on the Sweet Potato

you hardly make mistakes but manage to play so smoothly. this is awesome, and so are your drum covers (from toe to ke$ha). you should check out the band pretend, especially the track 'these luminous noises are god' which can be found on youtube. the drumming in their music is totally tasteful and insane and I think you'd like it a lot. maybe enough to do a cover!

This is one of the best interpretation of the piece out there..and it is not even played by piano!...was what i was going to say after hearing about 2 minutes..but than I heared few notes misplaced at the middle. Was them intended or just mistakes? Either way, I think it would have sounded better with it, although I am not very friendly with glokenspill.(edit: marimba) It is just a little personnal opinion that I am not entirely sure about. Anyway, thank you for great music and sorry if I am not good with english.
