    The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

      And Chita wished she had Jlo's star quality. Chita was a great "talent," but she was never a star even when she was starring . . . in my humble opinion.

    Rivera was good; there's no denying that. But somehow, to me, she just doesn't have the magic of a Streisand, a Merman, or a Gwen Verdon. Nonetheless, I was sorry to hear of her death. Rest well.

    • @elizabethdunne-baxter3689
      @elizabethdunne-baxter3689 7 місяців тому +3

      What is the impetus behind the above post? All of these woman are legends. Chita was a star and an icon for so many reasons and to so many people. I was lucky enough to see her perform live in four different shows, and there was true TRUE magic on that stage each time. Notice if you watch videos of her and Gwen they both let each other have their own time and explore their own particular quirks and brilliance.
      Very big of you to be sorry (despite her shortcomings) to hear about the death of another human being, though…

      Wow. I'm sorry: I meant no disrespect to Chita Rivera. I was just expressing an opinion. I'll be sure to ask your permission before I do so again. And, incidentally: I really don't think "impetus" is the word you meant to use here. Why don't you check a dictionary, and try again?@@elizabethdunne-baxter3689
