- ET’s Melicia Johnson speaks with ‘90 Day Fiancé’s Bilal and Shaeeda who reveal the backstory to the 'prank' Bilal pulled when he took Shaeeda to his childhood home in Missouri instead of his actual home as a 'test' in their relationship. The couple addresses their personal regrets from that episode and fan misconceptions. After meeting online, Bilal, 42, proposed to Shaeeda, 37, after spending just one week together in Trinidad and Tobago when he traveled to meet her.

Reminds me of my ex. Very awesome at "managing" his personality and what ppl perceive him to be outside the home.
Inside the home he's a nightmare to live with, fussy, always complaining just a tough tough person to get along with on a relational level.
I'm so glad that this interview happened. So many people were quick to judge both of them w/o even knowing whether the producers and editors made the scenes look a certain way. Context is everything!

Bilal thinks he’s God’s gift to woman and so does his family. The way they treated her at dinner was absolutely disgusting. He completely threw her under the bus and made their meeting awkward. She tried her best to maintain her composure, but you could see the upset all over her face. That sister is vile too… she intentionally attacked and asked pointed questions to ruffle her. You present yourself as a “high value man” where you lead with your success and assets so what did he expect her reaction to be? This is just to save face… so much is off about him. He’s not genuine and she’s just along for the ride… I think she has an end goal in mind so she’s putting up with it for now.

Judging by the ceiling this isn't a 3 months issue it's been falling apart for a while. He was back tracking hardnin this interview. He knew came across badly hence the story.

Obviously this was a way to clean up his image and story. What he said and did on the show was explicit and ridiculously reiterated emphatically. This is PR at work. And people are so gullible that they’ll believe anything if sold correctly. He’s a joke and dusty as heck!

This was a really good interview. I appreciate the questions that were asked and answered.
I think the problem with this 'test' is how poorly it was designed. Acting humble from the beginning could be a smart move to avoid potential gold-diggers but Bilal did show off both on social media and during his visit. Standing before a wall while FaceTiming makes you look weird not poor.
Shaeeda on the other hand, definitely values material and I think she has every right to do so. Men are supposed to be the providers of a traditional Muslim family. Women can marry for money, looks, intelligence, power and all sorts of reasons that are likely to bring security and happiness. Someone tell this guy what he has is part of who he is 🤦

I had a friend I decided to room with. Our agreement was that absolutely NO MEN could move in. We talked about how we could walk around in a t-shirt and undies and be comfy.... A month later, she got back with her son's dad and moved him in. I was pissed. She felt like well it's my family. I felt duped. This is not what I signed up for. Can't fault her for being upset about being put into a position she didn't sign up for. It's not fair.

I love their dynamic in this interview; they seem like such a healthy couple. I also like the way he apologized and adjusted away from using the term OCD because he has since learned that it is a psychiatric condition- not simply a preoccupation with cleanliness. That shows growth and humility.

And we all know that Trinidadians do not attack tourists & when also when locals who live in Trinidad🇹🇹🌺🌴🌴🌴🏞 go to that beach area in Carenage, nobody is attacked or harassed, you can walk freely !

You can tell if he was addressed about it, his reply would be something like "Well you give the person you're speaking to the attention" or something lame to excuse his lack of engagement while telling intimate stories.

He reminds me of an ex - the good parts at least. We used to prank each other and make little jokes. But he would continue to test me as time went on. It was no longer funny, it became hurtful. He made me feel like I was inferior because I didn’t have a big house or a fancy car. Years later he admitted to feeling insecure and that he was still continually dating other women while seeing me. I was very sad because I really loved this guy. I cared so much about him, I was there when he was sick. Oh well. That’s life…

Ok, this is like my 3rd comment here so I know I look nuts, but I'm bored out of my mind and it's interesting when you hear more context behind their story. Entertainment tonight has an interview with them posted on May 4th, and after watching that, the "prank" aspect makes more sense to me now. As usual, there's more to the story than what we're shown/told on the regular show.
She failed the test horribly. A home is wherever her man is. Not based on how nice the house is. He should have dated her longer, that would have been the test. They are still arguing about him testing her and her insulting him. They should end it now.
No she didn’t because in that episode she said she would stay with him anyway in that house and they would fix it together , something like that

As I watch this segment I have to ask did his dad keep the house in that condition? It's actually a very nice house that I would be thrilled to live in but I would still notice the things that really do not take money to keep nice. I would expect it to be neat and maintained even if humble.

I think it is pretty tacky to "test" Shaeeda after she has traveled so far and left her family behind to be with him. If he wanted to make sure he wasn't getting a "gold digger", then why did he flaunt his "wealth" when he met Shaeeda. A lot of people would have a problem with being picked up in a DIRTY van only to arrive at a DIRTY RAGGEDY RUN DOWN DUMP of a house. He did not even have any food prepared for Shaeeda. Then he complains the whole time about Shaeeda not liking the dump he put in. Being grateful does not mean you have to accept living in a run down dirty dump. There are other ways to "test" for true love.
Maya Angelou said when someone shows you who they are, believe them. Shaeeda, he is showing you that he is a narcissists.

It was a continuation of a prank that Shaeeda started when Bilal came to see her in Trinidad. She put him in an Airb&B in the middle of the hood surrounded with barbed wire in Trinidad because he mentioned to her that he was hood boshie.

Amazes me as a person born in the UK, that his childhood home is viewed as 'humble'. Our living standards must be very low compared to America because that house is detached, spacious and needs a few repair jobs. It's dismaying that people see it as poverty. Try living in any of the damp and cramped bedsits in mouldy UK, neglected by dodgy landlords and then you'd have something to moan about. This pair are both conceited snobs.

I live in the UK too and this would constitute as damaged and in need of care. Call your local citizens advice bureau or housing office in the council. Ask for a at home visit and asked to placed on a waiting list to move. If its a private let contact the landlord association and get them struck off. I hope your situation improves.

One thing to keep in mind through 90 Day Fiancé: TLC is producing a reality TV show for entertainment purposes. How much of 90 Day is reality and how much of it is TV show is unknown to us.
TLC spins their stories any way they want to by editing. They can come very close to making black seem white and up seem down.

I have been reading many comments from viewers and I am surprised to see the comments/perspectives of the majority. First of all, I don't blame Bilal for being careful about his future wife's motives and testing her from the beginning - although I hear what he is saying now that it was a prank, not a test. He is being accommodating to her feelings now and I don't blame him. a Happy wife is key to the success of the marriage.
I know that Shaeeda had her living standards because of the life that she had back in her country, but she accepted Bilal for "What he is" based on her assumptions/pictures she had seen on his social media. When I saw her reaction to her first night, and then kneeling down and the next night praying when she saw the materialistic things that Belal really has, it made me question her loyalty to the good person that Bilal is. I find Bilal to be a good humble man who has achieved success in his life (God bless him for that). I hope that when the real first life test they encounter will not bring back memories of the test that Bilal put Shaeeda to.
Then why lead w his money when he visited her and on social media to switch it up to "test" her in person. Of course it would confuse her and it only led her to say she knows she can't trust what he says. That's a horrible way to start life together.
