Iran didnt exist at that time it was known as Pars the word Iran came to use after the callapse of Nader Shah Afshar empire and the formation of Aghanistan by the Ahmad Shah Durani.So in that manner Hafez is doesnt just belong to Iran but he belong to Afghanistan and Tajikistan too.
Don't talk nonesense man. Iran is of the middle Persian language of the Sassanids period. It means the Land of Arains. Sassanids used to call it Iran Zamin. The name Persian is from the ancient Greeks refering to the people of Pars from whom the Achamenid dynasty rose. Hafez, Saadi were born in Shiraz and lived in Shiraz that is in the Pars province. It is a good thing that you in Afghansitan or Tjikistan or Ozbakistan Or Turkaminstan appreciate Hafiz but please don't say they belong to anywhere else but Iran. BTW your Afhanistan was invented by the British after they managed to separate it from Iran/Persia during 1840s during the Qajar Dynasty. Before then it was part of the Khorasan province or as it was known then the Greater Khorasan. They did the same to Iraq which at the time was part of Ottoman Empire and put a king there too lke they did in Afghanistan. Thanks for listening.
