This is why I get a tad frustrated when people say CG is ruining film. There's still so many incredible artists do everything from scratch. Make up, costumes, production design, and even CG/VFX require so much creativity and discipline to pull off. So many great artists are involved in the art of making movies.
An over saturation of CGI over practical is one reason why the Hobbit trilogy failed in comparison to the LOTR trilogy. CGI doesn't always age well, whereas practical effects are timeless.
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams Incorrect on both accounts. Mind you the original LOTR films were highly praised because they utilized groundbreaking CG/VFX. They won the VFX Oscar 3 years in a row ffs. The Hobbit films failed purely because they took a relatively short book and stretched it to 3 films, therefore there was bad pacing, off storytelling decisions, and just all around bad blood in the production process. Too much CG was a byproduct of bigger issues.
Also, practical is not timeless, I'm frankly tired of hearing that. Look, I'm a filmmaker, the puppetry in the OT Star Wars films is what inspired me to make movies and study make up and practical effects. I attended Douglas where Savini teaches. I have a great love for that part of the industry. But that doesn't mean bad practical effects are "timeless". Bad practical effects are bad and we can say they're bad. And when they're good we can praise them. Same with VFX and CG. It's all a matter of execution, ALWAYS.
In my opinion I love CG the only situation I don’t like CG is within Eastern Animation (China,Korea, etc) as it looks kind of odd I think partly because they don’t have as much experience with it but also just because it breaks the flow of the normal art style.
@@kimhyunwoo8983 Absolutely, a good friend is an animator and he's very particular about thar sort of thing and has shared that sentiment before. I'm not an animator though so I don't have a real opinion on that lol
@@Zombie_Trooper the issue is the human brain is not very capable of regulating 2d and 3d at the same time in the sense that even when we look at a 2d plane such as a drawing our eyes “render” it as a 2d picture on a 3d plane (everything around it even the paper) but when we look at something within photos or moving picture/film our brain adjust to said format but when animations try to mix both it basically throws our mind out of wack and we perceive it as odd, now that’s not always bad it’s been used in interesting ways before for example The Who framed Rodger Rabbit Movie used this to great extent because the characters stayed 2d and our brain picked them up as a oddity but because we have prior knowledge of them being cartoons that visual oddity doesn’t register negatively in our mind. Usually that is.
i just find it amazing how far make-up has gotten !
yeah
True, several of these like Freddy Krueger and Mrs Doubtfire were done decades ago when current techniques of special effects makeup were really just starting out.
It might be an idea to look up 'The Phantom of the Opera' from the 1920s, or 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' from the early 1930s, or 'Frankenstein' from the 1930s.
Make-up like this was just getting started back then, and they are still some of the best.
OSSC’s content is surely unbeatable. They’ve got what it takes to go far and beyond.
I have to say, the behind-the-scenes footage of the makeup was phenomenal--and I say this as someone whose mother carried nothing but the highest respect and admiration for the likes of Rick Baker. (Speaking of, I would have wanted to see some of his work in there. Oh well.)
Thanks for the video ! I am happy to see that Youngji participates like she does . When she first joined the on camera cast , she was very quiet and let everyone else do the talking . I'm very glad she is now comfortable enough to join in . I love her expressions when she gets shocked with something being shown to them !
That was Nebula, not Gamora. And I think they need to watch Mrs. Doubtfire!
This is why I love watching Face off just seeing what they can do make up is crazy and fun to watch
Now, you HAVE to show them clips of Robin Williams from Mrs. Doubtfire!
This channel is so funny and entertaining! Nice job 👍 😊 love 🇰🇷
Cheers from San Diego California
Michael Jackson’s THRILLER music video really set something in motion.😊
I suggested this months ago!
It brings delight, to see their reactions.
If you guys like this. You should have them react to the TV Show Face Off. Face Off is an American reality television game show that has SFX people competing against one another. People who love to do SFX. It's an amazing show, that lets you see the creative possess of making such amazing special effect's makeup. You get to see contestants create an Idea, craft them, then display them for the world to see. It's a great show, and I can't recommend it enough. =]
Show Guillermo del toro’s special effects!!! They are a wonder
“i want to walk around the streets in that makeup” bro has been killing me lately 💀
There's a reason why some of the work gets special recognition at the Oscars! Didn't Suicide Squad get an Oscar for best Hair and Makeup?
That's why there is no other Hollywood in the world and every talented people wants to be part of Hollywood.
Why is Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique in the video screenshot, but in the actual video it's Rebecca Romijn's Mystique? Haha.
I'd rather it be Romijn's, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique makeup was looking like something done by Party City in her last movies in the franchise.
i'm so surprised they didn't recognize the grinch!!! please react to popular christmas movies this year 💜 i don't celebrate christmas but i love the movies haha. some popular family movies that everyone knows are:
- Home Alone (comedy, action, touching)
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (comedy)
- The Polar Express (touching, adventure)
- The Nightmare Before Christmas(spooky, musical)
- It's a wonderful life (old-fashioned, touching)
- The Santa Clause (comedy)
- ELF (comedy)
- It's A Charlie Brown Christmas (comedy, cute cartoon) :)
The grinch and some of these movies you mentioned are very american based so It's not so surprising they don't recognize the grinch or maybe they did it was just cut out of edit.
The way Choi says Harry Potter with an American accent at 4:18 was really funny to me for some reason lol
That was weird
The way they pronounce Jim Carrey's name is just so precious.
Oh they haven’t seen mrs doubtfire! Reaaact lol
The special effects artists on TikTok do awesome work too. You should show some of them.
And Jamie Campbell Bower, his 7 hours make-up transformation into VECNA ("Stranger things")
the vecna makeup is also cool
Play a PC game called Temple of Elemental Evil.
(Fight Vecna yourself.)
But in Korea, I saw to Lee Kwang Soo, he was a fish with special effects make up in a movie, I don't remember the name. He published a video where he spend hours to be ready. Even in Running man, sometimes they used some make up, and it takes a lot of hours
You forgot Doug Jones! The Legendary Icon Makeup Master Artist!
When they say Thor, it sounds like torta...which is cake in spanish.
btw she is Nebula not Gamora anyway it's always nice to watch ur videos
I will settle for being happy she didn't say Blue Man Group or something.
You with me? Heh
Back then they even did the animatronics for example the old Jurassic park movies. I really miss that Nowadays the actors have pretend the big or small creatures are there
well OSSC has done it again!
and Choi - I love you with or without the suit of armor! 🥰😍🥰
Should show them clips of the show Face Off!
Even before that, there was a spy show called FX. The spy was kinda in a pinch, but it so happens he had this makeup artist friend... (That's literally the basis of the show.)
It might be an idea to see 'An American Werewolf in London' from the 1980s to see how far special effects makeup went back before Computer Imaging was CGI.
A man turns into a werewolf / beast monster in the middle of a living room of a house, under bright lights, and nothing but rubber and hair was involved.
Somebody should show them Mrs. Doubtfire
They should’ve shown Millie Bobby Brown preparing for Eleven for the first time. Shaving her head so young…I always thought that was dedication.
Was expecting to see vecna from stranger things
Was hoping to see Raatma from V/H/S/94 on here. Easily some of the creepiest SFX makeup this horror fan has ever seen. Loved this video. Hail Raatma!
👍👍👍👍
It's always youngji with the best expression in the thumbnail
3:55 Chacha, thats Nebula not Gamora😅😅
Doug Jones is who you need to look at, so underrated as a true actor 👏
🤓 that's Nebula, not Gamora. I'll let that one slide since ur cute tho, ChaCha.
i actually had no idea they used sfx for the grinch, learn something knew everyday
People like these are so underrated
I was expecting vecna, still this was fun
Cha Cha scream is a mood lmao
Love the team and content! Any chance Heejin will be rejoining the group?
i noticed only yt actors get to play these exciting roles with shocking make up
I love it 😍😍❤️
What about Vecna I want a part two
Get a book (meaning, download a PDF of) Deities and Demigods.
That is, if you want a canon list of what Vecna can do... 😎
Wasted opportunity to not showcase vecna who was slightly viral recently :')
It's less impressive than Labyrinth. That's why. 🤷♂️
You know what I don’t know if they be allowed because of like copyright purposes but there was a show an American show on the sci-fi channel that was all about total body special effects make up and the challenges I can’t remember the name of the show 000 face-off face-off I wonder if you’d be able to show them face-off because some of the monsters they create for the challenges are so cool I would love to see the reactions to those if they are so interested in FX make up
Will they try “Hollywood special effects make up” on themselves?
Can you react oplan exodus the fallen saf 44
Noice
Second
@@eliassouza7455 gg on being second
1st
Karen actually plays Nebula in Avengers movies
Can you reaction to wonderland indonesia 2 and rewind indonesia 2021 please?
nah
No Star Trek 🙁
Harry Potter... No it's Harry potta
You mispronounced "Merlin"
OSSC, your translations suck. No one here was born before 1993? They had to put that make-up on Robin Williams while the movie , _Mrs. Doubtfire_ was being filmed.
Dude…
Can you react to RDCworld?
YES! THIS!
