Folks, I'll be honest with you They really could've made a good Monster Hunter movie with some modern-military stuff in it (at least at some point later on if it was a movie series), but-- of course-- that was never really the intention of Monster Hunter. They did the game series wrong, and they did the US Military (or any military, really) just as wrong. I was actually working on a writing project based on MH: Rise with some modern soldiers being stuck there long before the film was announced, but after this movie came out I kinda feel rather discouraged. I had a lot written down, people that I'd share it with liked, but I'm worried people will shit on it since there was an official film adaption with a modern military idea put in.
A late reply, but just because one big person did an idea badly doesn't mean you can't do a similar idea your own way. At least with this coming out first you can know what to not do and take notes lol. An example is RWBY, a large portion of fans no longer like the main series because of its bad writing so they make their own versions through fanfics of varying quality, though there's of course the bad ones there are also ones I've seen that have done leagues better than the official show. If you see this comment, I'd be interested to read what your writing too if you upload it online
Hey man, not to worry! Don’t feel discourage by this because of the movie. I think yours will be more entertaining…say I wonder if I could read it also?

"While they do manage to land a few hits their damage isn't enough to bring down the creature" Me: You UTTER buffoons, Rathalos is resistant to fire damage
Ima be honest, the actors that represented the monster hunter world is great. The designs of the monsters looks like they were alive. But there seems to be a miss understanding. Diablos never stays in the sand for so long. They eat cactus and the black ones (females) are extremely territorial at mating season I think. In the game mhw they don’t just charge at people since they’re harmless to them. They became angry once they get attacked. Rathalos is also not unbeatable. Many hunters in the monster hunter world beaten a rathalos. Elder dragons are in another level, they are the one that can’t be killed easily both in game and in lore. I think the final boss should’ve been Kushala Daora since they were once used to create the ancient buildings. While the Rathalos should’ve just chased artemis to a village not in desert but in the forest. Just any village and there she learns how to hunt or something and wants to go back to her world. Truly a wasted potential and didn’t carry the charm of monster hunter. Not lore friendly too. Overall could’ve been A LOT BETTER, but it’s still a movie.
I do like this, a huge fail in the movie is the crap world building, it didn't feel like monster hunter, it didnt have that sense of just beauty in it. The movie also made the fight seem desperate and hopeless when thats not what monster hunter does, theres a culture in that game. Likewise about Kushala, this movie is more geared to the older gen monsters, you'd probably want Fatalis who straight up exists to kill mankind. And I get your defense of it "being a movie" but they didn't even try to make this about the culture, the lore, the world, THE HUNT, of what Monster Hunter truly is. I've played this game since 2010, and a decade later, loving the game to death still, this movie upset me so much when i watched it, althought i did like seeing Gore Magala show up, i love him XD fun Elder Dragon.

Oh that’s bad each monsters have a different class of species that one as part of a group known as elder dragons. the Gore Magala is an elder dragon however it’s actually an adolescent one what makes it so dangerous is it scales you see when the Gore Magala sheds its scales it actually has a frenzy effect that works on both humans and monsters!
@@zakariamore1575 Gore Magala's scales are extremely small but in abundance,he uses his feelers(his appendages) to see with them. The scales can be inhaled by either monster or human. Humans typically arent that affected by said frenzy virus, and if having fought back against the monster, actually gain a power boos from it. Monsters are another story. Monsters, if having inhaled said scales will become infected by frenzy will become more aggressive, gain a purple aura, much like Gore Magala's and become stronger than a frenzyless counterpart. However, this comes at a cost as monsters with frenzy have their days numbered and soon die to the infection. There are some powerful monsters however that fight off the infection and thrive off the power granted by the virus. These are called Apex Monsters. Some of the most dangerous monsters ever encountered,, these things are not to be messed with. The only way to deal damage to them effectively is to sharpen your weapon with a specific stone(wystone). They gain new attacks, gain a power boost and damage increase. Another neat thing about the frenzy virus is that, if a Shagaru Magala(Gore's adult form) has spread it's scales far enough and infected monsters, those monsters that do die from the infection become hosts for the Shagaru's children. Much like xenomorphs, they burst out of their bodies to eat them. Shagaru frenzy is different to Gore's as this frenzy's main purpose is to propagate the species. Cool thing is if other Gore Magalas come in contact with a Shagaru's frenzy, it actually stops their molt(yes they molt their scales in order to reach shagaru status) half way and turns them into Chaotic Gore Magalas, which are Gores that are constantly in pain and have their days numbered.
That stuff ain’t canon man. Plus if your planning on making a movie adaptation of a popular series, don’t add anything that would literally change the whole movie’s genre.
Why is this movie that bad from the perspective of Monster Hunter fans? Cause it's not the MH world we all know and love, this is just another Resident Evil crapfest with the director's wife doing everything good and manage to survive the situations despite of having no real knowledge of the world. What we wanted was a story in the actual MH world, every game started with us, the player, getting our butts handed by a certain monster, leading us to train hard to grow stronger in gear and skill until we manage to overcome the monsters. For me the best plot they should have done was the Shagaru Magala story line, wich was hands down the best story ever done in the MH world, Hunter and Monster, toe to toe from the very begining of the game until the final match comes, both at the peak of their strength ready for the final stand.
Shagaru Magala is one of the most climactic fights where You actually feel that You face an inteligent creature that seeks revenge against You. But no Lets have Gore Magala Pop up for 3 seconds instead
The funny thing is that I've never played Monster Hunter in my life, and I know basically nothing about the lore, yet when I saw the trailer for this movie for the first time, I thought "Umh, something tells me that this has nothing to do with the games and it will probably suck.".😁
Narrator: sAvAgE mOnStErS Me: well here's where you're wrong. Male Diablos only attack like this if their territory is encroached upon or they're previously injured by a hunter since they can be very vengeful creatures. Nerscyllas are typically solo hunters but I'm guessing these where treated like freshly born normal spiders who typically stay together for their first few days of life before they mature and spread like a plague.

Thousands of bullets hitting within a two feet wide area, does no damage. Homemade sword stabs between plates of armor and kills the creature. Same spot all those thousands of bullets just happened to miss. Good action flick though.
Nah, diablos just got tough af skin/armor that normal bullets would just bounce off of The sword was sharpened and made from another monster’s jaw, and is much heavier so it would be much easier to pierce into flesh Also canonically hunters have superhuman level strength, endurance, and stamina, making this process much easier. Most weapons are fairly large, giving them the weight necessary to break, pierce, slash, and sever. The bows for example are generally as large as the hunter and shoot arrows that can essentially be used as heavy spears or lances

Yep. ToHo is great with monster stuff, having roots with Godzilla. I distanced myself some to try and enjoy it a bit more, thinking it was going to be cheesy as hell and probably have some inconsistencies (Diablos on a constant rampage, Nerscylla apparently physically nocturnal? But those can be explained by weird storm thing and subspecies sorta.) Ultimately, I enjoyed the ride as it went through a hunting process to deal with Diablos. The quiet splendor or the oasis Then, everything changed when the Admiral showed up. Ron opened his mouth and shattered the language barrier that had genuinely been carrying the movie for me. Gone was my hope that it would maybe be okay. Instead, plot armor and casting choice ruined the bit of fun I had with the story, and is explained away with the MC not being the first without even a handwave. I hope that ToHo gets a different set of people to work with for another live action movie. The monsters looked great. It's just filled with old people who have the shallowest idea of MonHun at the helm.
If it’s your first MH game then yeah I agree with you there. But for veterans like me, it wasn’t that hard reading. I think Monoblos is harder and Bloodbath Diablos from GU is freaking insane
All earth technology and weapons are useless in monster world. Admiral: I fear what your world will do to this place. Also, high-powered bullets do nothing while an arrow with crude dynamite on it can take down a dragon? C'mon. That's the problem with all kaiju movies. Explosions and bullets just piss off the fleshy creatures, but when the Kong/Jaeger/etc. pulls out a sword suddenly it's vulnerable?
This based off a long running video game series by the same name, Monster Hunter. In it, you make weapons and armor from the monsters you hunt and there's even weapon sharpness to maintain or else your strikes bounce right off. Even then, hunts often go for half an hour, slowly exhausting, cornering and wounding the monster. Once you're an expert in that specific species, a hunt may take 5 minutes. Point is, they're using the materials of the thing they're killing to kill it. I've barely begun the recap, but from the comments and the inclusion of Earth people, I can already tell the movie's not going to be terribly faithful to the source material. They got the looks right, both monsters and people, but they'll probably get the behaviour and danger wrong. In the games, you never lose a limb or get bloodied, just battered and bruised until you're knocked out (and immediately rescued by backup crew on standby). ...I have a feeling I'll see impalement and dismemberment in the recap.

This movie paints the world in a different way. It feels post apocalyptic, rather than a thriving world.
True that, everything about monster hunter was coexistence, even the hunter guild's symbol represents that, the top is 'respect for nature’, the left is ‘life as a community,’ the right is ‘prosperity from nature’, while the bottom represents ‘crafting from nature’.
Think about this. Our character is supposed to be the best and strongest type of human in that world
funny thing is the only thing they got from the games is that they ARE post apocalyptic, but monster hunters post apocalypse is alot better because everyone figured out they need to live with the wyvers that now dominate the natural order
@@ChronoTriggerHappy considering that according to the lore that there used to be an ancient and advanced civilization that is now extinct. You got a point there.
Technically it should be, but for Monster Hunter, it's post apocalyptic in the sense that nature literally took its course to the extreme. The Hunters and humans are so outgunned on the grand scale that their activities aren't just on a small scale, but that their role is to curb the greater threats just enough to prevent complete environmental catastrophe.

Right? They could’ve just had the story be about Hunter being stranded in the middle of Monster territory, and his journey to get back home.
Edit: Think Castaway+Monster Hunter
True
Literally could’ve used so many of the villages and locations from the games.
They should have included furious rajang for it would be a better plot, or included other things from the games like the hunters guild or the research commission, and some more monsters, even elder creatures to add more tension to the plot

Has there ever been evidence of hunters fighting each other in any of the games up to now?
Sad to say I'm not familiar enough with the games to judge for myself but I'm surprised to not see any evidence of conflict between hunters.

@@WildcardStrider I'd like to think that in a world where every hunter can lift a sword bigger than their own body, fly across the map with said sword, jump on monsters also with previously mentioned sword, and can survive being punched hundreds of meters away by a monster, would win a hand to hand combat with a normal human. Aside from the indisputable fact that you don't need to cross something over with IRL to allow it to work as a movie, the first thing that came to my mind from that ending was that they should've either had Alice stay to demolish the stones in our world (after all, breaking one end might break the connection) or just outright admit that she _wants_ to go and stay in their world.

Rathalos is actually semi-agressive. It only attacks if provoked or hungry, Its main rival is Anjanath, A large T-rex looking monster that has wings. Folks, I'll be honest with you
They really could've made a good Monster Hunter movie with some modern-military stuff in it (at least at some point later on if it was a movie series), but-- of course-- that was never really the intention of Monster Hunter.
Well think of the film as a what not to do.

Me : Oh boy. They are dead
"While they do manage to land a few hits their damage isn't enough to bring down the creature"
Me: You UTTER buffoons, Rathalos is resistant to fire damage

Finally a fan of the e video game series
What's a frenzy effect
@@zakariamore1575 its pure chaos

The quiet splendor or the oasis
Then, everything changed when the Admiral showed up. Ron opened his mouth and shattered the language barrier that had genuinely been carrying the movie for me.
Kong’s axe is literally powered by the same energy that powers Godzilla.
@@josephjager9156 so just stop fanboying and getting your panties wet whenever someone doesn't agree with you especially when there's some legit criticism
Whenever the US Military sponsors a movie it just becomes so much more boring. You get some free Humvees for the shoot but in return you lose so much character. There's no reason for a Monster Hunter movie to have modern US soldiers in it.
Nah ur just watching cheap movies. I see what u mean and I can agree but if u watch good us military movies like black hawk down its interesting, not boring
Loved it! Awesome movie! 😃
This time around I quickly noticed that the film is worth watching, and in a few seconds into recap closed the video in order to watch the whole film later. Wasn't dissapointed, It really is worth watching.
Unless you played the source material, then it’s like the disappointment of the century and a grim reminder of what it could have been
