    I just picked up archery recently and almost immediately I started experiencing shoulder pain in my bow arm. I just so happen to have atrocious posture. Sounds like I will be putting down the bow and picking up a weight.

    Finally had my left shoulder repaired after 10 years of pain, these videos are full of great information to strengthen and maintain proper shoulder position.

    I just suffered a severe infraspinatus tear due to work. Damaged the articular cartilege also. Im due to go for surgery which may require a rotator cuff repair and a bicep release. I took up olympic a year ago and now I am going to be back to square one . Take your shoulders seriously people, mine arent archery caused but it means I lose what I learned and a percent of my shoulder capacity.

    Found this video while trying to find out why my shoulder hurt so bad after shooting. I tried a few of the exercises to relieve the pain, and I found that they actually do start to help in HUGE amounts and I’m looking forward to shooting more often now

    Though the fascia “spiderweb” is an anatomical fiction purported by some few teachers, it IS a useful analogy that gets the message across to athletes to DYNAMICALLY warmup(!) and cross-train. It’s *painful to see the doughy archers who need to become athletes FIRST, which will correct posture naturally.... Watch how differently you’ll walk and move after ONE month of dynamic training. Cross-training WORKS.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm a certified massage therapist and tai chi & zhan zhuang practitioner & teacher. Just started archery with a pse night hawk recurve bow. You are definitely correct about the tight pectorals being a major cause of imbalance, pain and related issues for most people given the common rounding forward of shoulders, back, neck & head looking at phones, computers, books, etc. Of course its not necessary to round forward, just takes persistent conscious awareness & focus on more plumb alignments through body and earth. And keeping arms from humerus down more neutral or a bit externally rotated at times to balance out the forward tendencies.

    This was useful, thanks. Daily life, I life lots of weight. Lots of pulling motion, lots of pushing weights above my head. I developed a pain in the front shoulder of my draw side. I could not draw a bow without pain. I’ll rest my shoulder for the next 2mo & look for a therapist.

    This video is incredibly vital. I'm older but new to archery. Suffered from 3 right shoulder dislocations resulting in a repair that probably failed as well as one left dislocation and even shooting my 26lbs bow hurts my BOW Arm shoulder a lot more than my draw arm.

    Hi Jake, I'd be really grateful if you could tell me what poundage you shoot in training vs competition (if there is a difference)?

    Great information from this video, thank you both. I will take IYTW from this particularly, I've flared up my draw shoulder because I'm an idiot and not been warming up and my draw is so heavy....light 32lb WNS limbs but 43lb on my fingers from my daft rangy long 32" draw. I had S.A.D. surgery and a long frozen shoulder recovery 2 years ago and I've nipped it up again, so lots of IYTW and shoulder exercises for a couple of weeks and no shooting. Thanks for sharing your invaluable experience.

      Just to follow up, I did the thumb up the armpit massage thing and that has taken away the hot pain from the shoulder front. Superb result, so happy 👍🏻❤️ thanks

    Thank you for this video.. I am the person who actually gets hurt every time he skips his warp up routine.
    I have a question for you and you wife:
    My bow arm shakes a lot, even with light draw weight (actually i m shooting 34lb). At the end of my training (average of 200 arrows, 700 per week) i m not feeling tired, and i m not loosing my "accuracy" or form... But that arm keeps shaking.
    What are yor suggestions ? Can it be a lack of strenght ?

    • @Kman31ca
      @Kman31ca 7 років тому

      Giuseppe Caiola It sounds like a strength issue. Need to strengthen up you shoulder, back muscles. Sarah Bowmar has a good vid on what work outs to do to add strength. Just type in Sarah Bowmar and go through her videos and you'll find it.

    The medical and scientific skeptical communities have evaluated the benefits of KT (kinesiology tape), and found no convincing scientific evidence that it provides any demonstrable benefit in excess of a placebo, declaring it a pseudoscientific treatment. (Wikipedia)

    • @CrimsonRoseDancer
      @CrimsonRoseDancer 6 років тому

      Akathe Squid Everything in the scientific or medical community has counter research. My physical therapist used KT on my wrist and forearm after I broke my wrist. I’d never heard of it before. She said it basically just adds a support for your muscles to aid pain and injury recovery but is easier to work around than a brace. If you believe wearing a brace for severe pain can help than why not believe this can help for less severe pain? Wikipedia is never a suggested citation reference.

    i sometimes feel like my drawing arm shoulder is going to get dislocated when im shooting and have to come down, especially in competitions. The first few ends of every competition are always good but by the time i get to the 5th end all hell breaks loose. this never happens in regular training. does any one have an idea why this may be happening?
