You are so right about the feet! I follow Yoll. She's an eagle owl out of Russia. Her feet are HUGE! Like something I've never seen before in my life. Her feet are bigger than my hands. I am an adult woman who stands 5'6" and am clearly bigger than that owl. It's so amazing. Every time I watch the videos I am fascinated by those gigantic feet. And the talons. Yikes.

I have lots of 'wounds' on my hand and wrist area where I pick her up. And a rash that comes n' goes! I've thought about a glove. And her beak is a force to be reckoned with as well!!
hey i need help...!!! i found 2 barn owl chicks somewhere before 4 days ,,,they were hungry and one of them was sinking in water when i found him, both r scared and in bad condition, now they seems good , im feeding them chicken in night ,, my question is >> now they r scared of humans and when i hold them they feel not much scared after sometime, but if i leave them for some minuts and again they feel strange and click with their mouth :D ,, i want to make them friendly .,,what i should do, they r almost full groun but still white furr on them,
What is so downplayed in the HP novels is just how dangerous the larger owl species truly are. A fully grown European Eagle owl can take down a deer. Let that sink in for a moment. A DEER! They have talons a good 2 - 3 inches long and will have moody days at the drop of a feather. And Snowy owls are even WORSE than that. They won't say they're gonna test you and give you a hard time. They're gonna just DO IT. I would be unsure with a pet Barn owl at the most. Snowies, forget it! Let them stay wild and roaming the tundra as nature intended. Keep away from them and they'll keep away from you generally. If you want to do something for local owls, maybe give money to a falconry centre, let mice use your garden (you'd be surprised how far into towns owls come) and adopt an observation only attitude unless you truly feel you can handle more
I had a barn owl that flew at 300g and a female snowy owl that flew at 2000g it tried to hurt me when it got sexuaIy mature it is now in a breeding program they don't like warm weather i am now flying a European eagle owl at 3000g and a female Harris hawk that flies at 1000g
You shouldnt get either as a pet they are wild animals and deserve to live free (only in special cases where they cannot be released into the wild) but u should never go out seeking a owl pet because most likely they will be wild caught or from the exotic animal black market Edit i forgot the part where there are some domesticated owls that are breed in captivity sorry for my mistake
