My top five hopes for Shrek 5:
1. Excited that Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are back in their respective roles, but hopeful for the rest like Gingy, Pinocchio, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws and Perrito to return as well.
2. The same animation style or something similar to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish that reinvigorated the franchise for the better.
3. A beautiful and stellar soundtrack with great songs
4. Memorable and new characters that are memorable and meaningful like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Big Jack Horner, and Death from The Last Wish.
5. To be a great and successful movie with hilarious humor and heart that goes back to what made the first two Shrek films and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish memorable masterpieces.
Ofc Puss, Perrito and Kitty Softpawns will return in the ending of The Last Wish they were sailing to Far Far Away so Puss can reunite with he's old friends so 100% they'll be back but for me tho the side characters i want to return are Doris, Cookie and Arthur yes i know Shrek The Third was a terrible movie but i do want to see what he's been up to especially now that he's king of Far Far Away maybe just a cameo or something even if he's not important to the story

It's a nice sum up of what I'd expect for it, especially for them to use the new animation style from _Puss in Boots: The Last Wish_ as it's a fitting style and gave new life to the _Shrek_ universe.
If there's one thing I would love to see from Shrek 5... it'd be a Smash Mouth song being played somewhere in the film. Though rather than All Star, I'd like to see them use a different song from the band's discography (preferably the "Astro Lounge album" as that's what All Star was on). Not just to honor Steve Harwell after his passing, but to also shine a spotlight on Smash Mouth's other works.
I’m glad Shrek’s back, and we can all see him again soon. There’s just one problem. DreamWorks announced that on 2025, they’re moving on from in-house animation production and started finding other studios to collaborate with for their next era of animation production. Point being, how is DreamWorks going to animate Shrek with the other studios and make sure the animation style looks like what we’ve seen before.
I want it to look like something like The Last Wish, but it probably won't. That's a real shame. It's also too bad that it won't have the same director and writers as The Last Wish.

I think it would be really interesting if Shrek 5 had 2 different storylines going on where the main plot is all about Shrek and Donkey going on their own seperate adventure similar to the original movie, while the subplot focusing on Fiona, Puss and Boots and even Kitty Softpaws and Perrito since she’s never really interacted with him all that much and I’d like to see how their dynamics would work off one another. I know it sounds strange but it would be crazy if this actually came true.
Here is a proposed idea for a villain or conflict. Make the villain be the Grimm brothers, or some storyteller like Mother Goose who tells Shrek that all stories come to an end. But, Shrek doesn't want that to happen and because of it his friends and family are in danger. Like we could see Fiona stuck in a tower and live with PTSD, or Puss could think he sees an illusion of death, and Donkey could see his old owner telling him he was a terrible pet.
Grimm Brothers would be a good idea but I want to see Mad Hatter as a villain since Alice in Wonderland is one of the only fairy tales that hasn't been brought in yet. Also Fairy Godmother thinks the Grimm Brothers are like gods because she said "What in Grimm's name are you doing here?" when Shrek got into her office.

Though the directors said Puss in Boots 2 took place 10 years after Shrek Forever After, so the kids may be 11 if the team doesn’t change that.
We’re also getting Toy Story 5, Moana 2, Zootopia 2, Live Action Lilo and Stitch, and Live Action Snow White. But I’m super glad that Shrek is returning after the last 14 years and I was really worried that it might never come back!
The crazy part about all this is that it’s orally coming out week after Toy Story 5 which comes out in June 2026. It literally feels like 2010 all over again as at the time both Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After came out very close to each other but this time it’s under very different circumstances for both companies, Pixar and Dreamworks. I personally hope Shrek 5 comes out on top this time around however.

2: Peter Pan🧚🏻♀️ (and maybe have Peter got Captain Hook’s Hook on his belt that he killed him)
3: Miss. Muffet🕷️ (and I can see her as a Human Spider Hybrid Creature)
4: Bloody Mary🪞(maybe her power would be that she can teleport through Mirrors and I can see she would play mind games on Shrek, making him Angry and even take his Family away from him, kinda like a Fusion of The Fairy Godmother and Rumplestiltskin)

and I think the funny part is that Donkey by accidentally summoned Blood Mary (because he think he would be a good friend, even though her name is *BLOODY MARY!* ether that or he thought that Bloody Mary is a drink, ether way I can see Donkey do something like that)
Good ideas but I want Mad Hatter to be the villain. The name would be self explanatory. He'd go mad at sorts, make him have no redemption arc, and maybe a hat army could be fun to see

The one thing that I really want to see in Shrek 5, which what most of the Shrek and Puss in Boots movies have given us, is another unique take on fairytale/nursery rhyme characters. When I first heard that they were doing this, I was thinking about what other characters are left that they can take a unique twist at because, personally at this point and you can completely disagree with me, I felt like they ran out of characters; they literally had to call the Jiminy Cricket character in The Last Wish the "Ethical Bug" and, be real, who actually remembered that Jack Horner was an actual character before this movie or that one Caddicarus nursery rhymes video.
I GENUINELY think Shrek 5 could center around Fiona this time around and have the ending of Puss in Boots 2 tie into it

I agree about the movie doing a small timeskip where shrek’s kids are either young kids or teens. One of the things I find annoying in animated movie sequels is that the kids of a protagonist don’t age up at all. Perfect example are the girls from despicable me. Like in the 4th movie Gru has a baby and YET the girls are still looking the same! Like why not do at least a 2 or 3 year timeskip where the girls look a bit more different and older?? Then there’s Mavis and Johnny from hotel Transylvania, they still look exactly the same instead of looking more mature and older. It’s annoying when they do that 🫤
Yeah like in HTTD Hiccup grows up throughout the trilogy and we see his growth as a mature character.
Hey Brain, Your idea on Shrek and his daddy issues while being a dad is a great idea. As for the villain and the overall plot, I think it should be a villain that’s tied to Fiona and her past related to her curse by being the former apprentice of the Fairy Godmother who decided to take revenge by kidnapping Shrek and the kids while Fiona, Donkey, and Puss in Boots go onto an adventure to rescue them as Shrek and their kids try to escape.
I really hope it keeps the spiderverse animation and 3 unique fairytale villains making it the true ending to the franchise. The story could be a little dark and have mind-blowing moments compared to the other Shrek films.
I will say, as a MASSIVE shrek fan even before he became a meme and in the public eye more, I am EXTREMELY excited for shrek 5 and I’m hoping this is a fun and emotional movie.
Also the marketing better go all out if they want to beat Toy Story 5 at the box office since that comes out two weeks before this does

What thinking for Shrek 5, they should bring all the villains from the previous 4 movies to revenge on Shrek. And unlike Kung fu Panda 4, they will all be reprised by their actual Actors.
I think that brining back old villains worked for KFP because they had already established the spirit realm.

I agree especially with having Lord Faarquad back he was my favourite villain and maybe he's a ghost like he was in the 4d/short film , but I would like to see some more developement on Shrek with his kids and Donkey with his family, a flashback or flashbacks of Fiona's time locked away in the castle like they did in the Musical and something very important which I just am surprised no one has mentioned is the music should be really good like the past movies and side characters should be in it but to a capacity
@@talonschultz5277 but that’s the problem Kung Fu Panda didn’t give them justice at all, they took out Shen in a stupid way then gave Kai a terrible entrance, the voice actors didn’t even come back and all the villains got some reason bow to Po even though Shen despises Po
The only problem with your theory, in my opinion, is that if the ogre kids were teenagers, they'd be away from their parents because in the musical adaptation, it was said that all orges left their parents at age 7

I definitely hope we see Shrek’s side of the family or more specifically his father like you mentioned in this video. Apparently that was going to be the original story for the 5th movie if it came out back in 2013 like it was planned at one point.

Joel Crawford, not being the director, puzzles me about this movie. Walt Dohrn, directing this movie, makes me worried since he directed the Trolls movies, and he was great as Rumpel in the fourth. But a few things i want for the fifth movie to have is....
1. Animation like Puss In Boots The Last Wish
2. Have compelling characters
3. Have a soundtrack full of bangers
4. Have Shrek teach his kids about being an ogre
5. Have Fiona, Puss, Kitty, and Perrito be involved in the story.
@Wrilen_Speedy_Webb Walt was the head of story on Shrek 2 and 4 and voiced Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After.
If it turns out that Joel Crawford is directing Trolls 4, it’d be kinda cool because that would mean that he and Walt Dohrn literally traded franchises.

I hope Shrek 5 continues to center on the relationship of Shrek and Fiona because I feel that that is the core of the Shrek films (with the exception of "Shrek the Third") imo
Whoever the villain ends up being, imagine they bring back Fairy Godmother! Not saying go a Kung Fu Panda 4 route, but maybe more of a Spider-Man: No Way Home or Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales route where you bring back a beloved character or a few! I FELT IT IN MY BONES that Shrek 5 was happening! And they originally planned on doing a Shrek 5 way back when anyways!

Hopefully they reference Shrek is love, Shrek is Life, possibly as an Easter egg or I think would be funnier is if one of the characters reacted to it. I think Puss would say, “Shrek is many things. Love…definitely not one of them.”

Im my opinion Shrek Forever After was such a great ending where it brought shrek back to his roots almost a 1.5 remake that had so much going for it its so underrated if anything it writes Shrek the 3rd out completely and really does feel like a storybook ending literally
It mentions the Kingdom of Far Far Away finally being at peace, which is because of Shrek 3 redeeming the villains.
In Shrek and Fiona’s room, you can see a picture of Fiona with the princesses.
Doris’ sister Mabel who was introduced in 3, makes a cameo at the birthday party.
And Artie was gonna be in 4 but was cut due to Justin Timberlake being busy.
So, no. Shrek 3 still happened. The callbacks are subtle, but it still happened
@@kidkaden5139 Shrek Forever After didn't write Shrek the Third out the picture. Some elements from the third movie still made its way to Forever After. For example, The Poison Apple, the bar where all the villains used to hang out in Shrek 2 and The Third is now a safe place that you can rent for birthday parties and other events. In my head canon, King “Artie” Arthur is the one who gave the order to get that place cleaned up. Also, I believe that he gave the villains new jobs at the kingdom since they joined his side by the end of Shrek the Third. Another example, Mabel, a character that was introduced in The Third, made a brief appearance in Forever After, she was in the ogre triplets' birthday party. She's one of the Ugly Stepsisters, and she's the one who said "Looks like you forgot the candles" to Shrek's face at the party. Another thing. A picture of Fiona and the Princesses from Shrek the Third can be seen hanging on their wall when the ogre triplets wake Shrek and Fiona up. And, of course King Harold not being present in this film because he died in The Third. Therefore making Shrek the Third canon.

It would be interesting to learn more about Shrek's side of the family in the films especially his father. The last time we ever saw Shrek's parents was when they had a role in Shrek The Musical.

I have this idea pitched for Shrek 5 where teen Red Riding Hood, who was seen in Shrek the Third, becomes a major character and she'll be a major character similar to Goldilocks in Puss in Boots 2 voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

I want a creative and fun villain. Also, a solid story that got a focus like the first film.
Given how The Last Wish ended, I’m assuming that not only will Puss In Boots be in Shrek 5, but so will Kitty and Perrito. If that’s the case, then I hope we get plenty of Perrito and Donkey being besties, because you know they would get along really well. And who knows? Maybe Goldie and the Bears will make an appearance (although I doubt it). And whatever villain they have for Shrek 5, if they get killed off, I hope Death makes an appearance.

I think the ogre kids being teens without the movie doing the overprotective dad trope would be the ideal for me. And I'd love to see Fiona get more spotlight and some good character moments! Dreamworks has taken some good forward steps on handling female characters well, imo, after too many where it felt like... Clearly the other characters are reacting to them in a way where they're supported to read as strong, smart, tough, and independent, but nothing about the character really shows that. It kind of was and still is a trend in family movies in general, honestly, and it doesn't feel great to me. Women besides "tough and independent" and "sensitive and kind" exist. We've seen other types of female characters, these don't need to be the default, but that's a guy's take so idk! But I digress... 😅 Back to commenting on the video, it wasn't until now I realized that, hey yeah, of all the Dreamworks sequels I've seen, HTTYD is the only time where I wasn't pleased by the second film-- And I'm pretty sure most fans liked that one, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Realizing this has me excited for The Bad Guys 2!

I really want Shrek 5 to be a modern classic like The Last Wish.
Considering the fact that Steamboat Willie entered the public domain and Shrek has often thrown jabs at Disney, I wouldn't be surprised if they take advantage of this and find a way to make Mickey Mouse the villain of Shrek 5. Maybe they create a character based on him called Music Mouse and he's a traveling showman, but abuses animals to make music. Maybe he kidnaps Donkey or Puss and makes them victims for his act and Shrek travels with his ogre family to save them.
I hope we get more info on Donkey's past and backstory

Hey Brian, I'm more of a Toy Story guy than a Shrek guy.
Shrek 1 definitely had the most bite to it.
I hope it's more like the original 4, and maybe Puss in Boots, but not the Last Wish. Good idea, but poor execution. Also, 3rd movie is underrated. I've watched it several times, and it's fun each time.
But don't ruin the 4th movie. Forever After is my favorite!
My idea for shrek 5 should do is no way home vibes like someway some how the puss in boots villian aka death brings back the villians of lord farquad fairy godmother and prince charming and fionas wish would be bring back her dad so he could see his grandkids
_Shrek 5_ is a movie I look forward to when it comes out. And I hope for them to stick with the _Last Wish_ animation style and give Princess Fiona mor character growth.
Although aging up the ogre triplets as teenagers seems pretty much like how _Toy Story 3_ time skipped and had Andy 17 and _Steven Universe: The Movie_ and _Steven Universe Future_ aged Steven up to where he's tall; it'd be pretty repetitive if they went that direction. Maybe have 'em as 10-year-olds and call it a day.
i know they already did magic in Shrek 2 but i think it'd be funny if they parodied Disney's Wish, cause Dreamworks/ the Shrek world is a parody of fairy tales/Disney.

Not really, because the ice age movies were all rushed out in a short period of time. So they were all fresh off the heels of the last one
The five shrek movies (including puss in boots) came out over a 10 year time period. So and because it’s been 13 years since puss in boots and by the time shrek 5 comes out it will have been four years since last wish so we’ve all had time to actually miss this world and these characters and even appreciate the lower quality entries of shrek the third and forever after.
