I have a '06 R1200RT and a '22 R1250RT. Summer 2021, I rented a '19 R1250RT for 15 days (~3k mi) and decided I needed an upgrade to my '06. What an enormous change for the better. I still ride both, for now (no. not at the same time.) My point is that BMW's RTs are a good investment if you want a bike that will last you decades.
This is the Bike that everyone who loves touring will love this Bike!! Thank You for this great review! BMW has done it again! Their R&D Department has designed a very cool , fun to ride motorcycle that has Class and can tout the legendary Rolls Royce of Motorcycles title without batting an eye to any of its contenders!!

Intelligent, precise, insightful, entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable - thank you...don't be late! I hope you get to tour on this wonderful BMW. Nick
Thanks for your excellent presentation and review of this motorcycle. Being born in Munich. I may be very biased towards BMW. I have a 1984 R100 RS. Twin rear shock. That I have owned since 1985, after buying it from my brother. The bike has 494,000 kilometres on the dial. Many years of sheer riding pleasure. This R1250 RT as reviewed here would be my next motorcycle. But I will never part with my R100 RS.
Hello! Thank you for this nice video. Yes, I agree that this engine is better than the previous one, no doubt about it. I also think that this is the ideal bike for all purposes despite the off road incursions, because that is not a forbidden field but it is not the cup of tea for this bike. In all other aspects, it is a wonderful bike. A Bike of dreams. This first impressions video states for that. I still am a proud owner of a BMW 1250 GS, but this year I intent to change for one these RT, because I rarely take my GS to the off road environment. And for touring the GS is good, but this RT is superb. “Quo non ars ascendit ?”
thanks for your reply. We’ve both got GS adventures here at GearTorque and love them. They are workhorses. But we completely understand why you would go for the RT. It is an amazing bike. ride safe my friend 🏍✌️
Sounds like you were impressed :-) I've got the R1200 RT and it's a fantastic touring bike ..... what people don't realise is that it's quite capable on the twisty roads too, it's surprisingly 'flickable' if you grab it by the b***s and go for it. I'm ready for a change and there's only one touring bike I'll be getting which is another RT so I need to get over to Jefferies and throw my leg over a 1250 sometime. You've really wetted my appetite !
You asked so I'm deliverin' - The BMW R1200 RT was and is a pretty damn good bike and I can verify that since I've got one (2018 model). These newer editions have more power, they are smoother and the TFT, ACC, new bodywork (subjectively better looking based on personal preference) etc. add value to the high buy-in price. Regardless of what year RT you own, they are pleasant, comfortable, convenient and fun bikes to ride and ride and ride. Enjoyed the video. LIKE - 👍👍 Cheers 🥂/🍻
Ok I’ve just taken deliver of the 1250 gsa 2021 , and I can tell you on my next service I will be taking one out for the day , thank you for a great first ride ,
Those are first impressions. Try using the integration of phone app and the navigation. I own one not so seamless. BMW has it work cut out for them. Handling of the bike is awesome. Does feel cramped for a sport touring. Crotch rockets may feel more comfy. All other feature are stupendous. Adaptive cruise should only be used on the freeway with on/off ramps. I own one.
Awesome bike, sadly I rode one whilst my 2020 GSA was getting serviced, so not a good idea, the only two faults I could pick was the slightly more cramped riding position and the lack of blind spot monitoring, something that their 650 scooter did have, so no excuses there really. Overall though, the best road oriented touring bike I’ve ever ridden and oh so desirable, lot of dirt tracks around where I live though and having two bikes of similar brilliance just can’t be justified.
What a great video I want to share that I have an exact twin to that bike that I bought last week the only two changes I made a rear top trunk and a lower seat a little expensive but so well worth the money thank you for sharing your comments and I agree with every one of the positive things that you’ve said about the bike stay upright and have a good time
thanks for your comments Michael. hope you have many happy miles together. ride safe brother. consider subscribing to see more videos.(if you haven't done already!) it would be much appreciated. Peace.
I have a 2015 or 1200 RT and I have a hard time buying the new 1250 RT because it’s just such an awesome bike and the engine is just fantastic. I have thought about buying a GS or a GSA but then you don’t get as much wind coverage on long trips great video great scenery thanks.
The ACC looks brilliant and I wish I had it on my GS though I'd also like to see blind spot warning on it too like the Ducati Multistrada has. In the meantime I'll have to give myself a talking to before I take mine in for it's service on Wednesday.
Bought the identical bike in Australia a week ago. Love it except the TFT screen won't go to Pure Ride full screen mode. Stays on split screen. Brand new and already needs a firmware update! One thing you missed is it also has an adaptive headlight which is gun at night time.
Ah mate I hope you have many happy mile together. Let us know about the update. I’m sure our viewers would be interested. Thanks for your comment about the headlight. Hopefully BMW will let us have the bike a bit longer next time, so we can really get to know it. Ride safe 👍
Hi David from South Africa 🇿🇦. Can you please comment if there are any vibrations on the new model? Is there any buzzing that resonates through the seat, mirrors and handlebars at higher rpms? thank you sir.

Active cruise control - Not too keen on having that on a bike. Any rider or driver will naturally keep their distance from the vehicle in front (wouldn't you?). Why would one need a computer to do it for you? Using the ACC when it automatically slows down, is the brake light activated too, just in case the vehicle behind hasn't noticed you are slowing down? Without the ACC you would first glance in your mirrors before slowing down. That's basic knowledge for any rider/driver. Apart from that, it's a beautiful bike. I do own a R1150rt, great bike, but still prefer the ultra-smooth K engines.
now all they need to do is put on airbags, and a 10 speed automatic transmission, and ... let's be honest what good is a customer that is too hurt to ride or dead. so no manner their, the riders, complaint about being protected, unless they have a death wish, they will love the systems when they are needed. and 30K - 35K even 40K would become acceptable prices.
Lots. Of improvements. Sat Nav/ phone arrangement is absolutely hopeless. The new super headlight is ok on main beam but dipped is like a six volt bulb. A motorcycle that’s been introduced six months before it was ready. In two years time BMW they will ok.
Even with all that innovation and electronics; BMW remains one of the most unreliable bikes on the market according many customer surveys. BMW makes it impossible for owners to service and repair their own bikes. With to few options owners are forced to us BMW service departments with horrendous rates; they might as well ask for your first born! Buyers beware; all that glitters is not gold. This message is from a BMW owner!
Strange? I had the R100RS for 2 years, K1 for 23 years and now the R1200RS since 2015. Never a problem I could not fix myself, and very relyable bikes. Hope to upgrade to this as soon as I can sell my R1200RS
@@robortkristensen3818 I do my own wrenching. Have not gone to a BMW dealer for service in 15 years and more than 90000 miles. Sounds like you don't put a lot of miles on a bike?
This is the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on one of these! I owned a R1100R and loved it and also did small upkeep on it. Had a shade tree mechanic for anything more than that. The problem is with the newer ones is all the tech, my mechanic is now out of his league. That still wouldn't sway me completely away but the nearest dealer/service shop is 7hrs away......I could still do oil changes and such but now you have to reset the computer or it will always show that services are due......I really want one of these though....

Lots. Of improvements. Sat Nav/ phone arrangement is absolutely hopeless. The new super headlight is ok on main beam but dipped is like a six volt bulb. A motorcycle that’s been introduced six months before it was ready. In two years time BMW they will ok.
thanks for the comment John. ride safe buddy 👍🏍✌️

Thanks for your comment buddy. Hope it hasn’t spoilt your love of biking. ride safe ✌️
@@robortkristensen3818 relyable?
This is the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on one of these! I owned a R1100R and loved it and also did small upkeep on it. Had a shade tree mechanic for anything more than that. The problem is with the newer ones is all the tech, my mechanic is now out of his league. That still wouldn't sway me completely away but the nearest dealer/service shop is 7hrs away......I could still do oil changes and such but now you have to reset the computer or it will always show that services are due......I really want one of these though....
Just not as good as the 1250RS!
hope we can get one to test in the not too distant future. ride safe buddy 🏍✌️
