Someone said in an interview that the stash box required the key to be out of the ignition before it could even be open, there was a certain sequence of events to open it up.. who knows..
Everybody knows you don't have a stash box in a car that requires a key to open it. The reason you ride with a gun is for easy access. No one has time to look for a key when you need a gat. Normally you have a hidden button that opens and produces the stash box/gun.

I've left this comment a long time ago, but neither myself or Gene Deal were there but I believe it was Keefe D big black arm and that's because he wasn't in the car with the other 3 originally, Keefe D got in the car at the liquor store, so when there are already three people in a car and you go meet some friends which seats are occupied 99% of the time, the driver seat, the front passenger & the back seat behind the passenger, which means the only emtpy seat left for Keefe D to jump in would be the back seat driver side, unless he made someone get out and move to the back which I personally doubt
