Subscribed, awesome info. 👍 maybe you can answer this question nobody else seems to be able to lol. I have a BMW X1 N20 it has a brand new water pump, radiator isn't too old and neither is the thermostat. The top radiator hose gets hotter than the bottom as it's supposed to once it's up to operating temps. But once it gets up to temp it has a consistent constant thump thump. Almost like a heartbeat would beat. It doesn't stop it just keeps thumping once the car is up to temp. Was thinking the thermostat could be failing but not sure.
thanks for the video I know most of the time if the thermostat is stuck open or opens too fast there will eventually be a fault code for cooling system bellow control range this is what I usually do go for a test drive with the scan tool connected even if the car has a temp gauge like the VW MK4 and MK5 cars even if the needle is is the middle of the gauge it dosen't mean that the actual temp. is correct if you ever notice the car will show the needle in the middle at 90 deg Cel of around 190 deg F but the car is only at 75 deg Cel this is the minimum tempeture that the gauge need to be at the middle range the same goes if the car is hotter thant 90 deg Cel of 190 Deg F the needle will only move if the car gets higher than 120 deg cel. so the moral of the story people think that by looking at the temp. gauge that you have the exact temp. and every thing is fine. I notice that direct injection cars and Diesels don't get very hot at idle when the outside temp. is very cold and the heater is set a full heat. I notice that especiallly on the new VW 1.4 TSI engine I think that because the engine block is aluminum and the intercooler system is cooled with the coolant so at idle there is a lot of cold air that get into the intake and cooling the water in the cooling system I even got a car to throw a fault code at idle with the heater set to full heat in a very cold day then if you go for a test drive with the same car then coolant heat gets to it's normal tempeture with a scan tool if you ever get one 1,4 tsi engine in a cold day test it like I did let it idle with heat a full heat and speed and you will see the coolant go down quite low I notice this on fist gen TSI engine but this one is even more obvious.
if the thermostat is stuck open does it prevent the car from having heat
Hey. I am experiencing same issue as described above (car gets to around 85C). With that in mind, I have no heat coming from the vents (only if I idle and rev it up to heat the coolant on purpose, only then it starts blowing hot air from the HVAC vents)
Will it not allow the water pump to run if stuck closed?
What is the name of the program you use for the examination?
You reversed Celsius and Fahrenheit at around the 2 minute mark...
edit out that god awful sound next time.
