Having your rookie QB who has never thrown a pass or met Courtland Sutton fly to where he is as a cutout for management in order to pressure Sutton to sign his contract is possibly the stupidest thing I have heard yet put forward by the Mile HIgh Puddle guys. There is only one thing Bo Nix needs to be doing...sticking his nose in his playbook about 18 hours a day 7 days a week.
0:25 Haha always interesting to see the real Luke. So used to him saying stuff along the lines of "We are all Adults", 'Suck it up' etc. But here you hear Luke complaining about how someone dind't want to talk to him. Grown man or not, Luke has emotions and feelings just like everyonee else.
I think Scott expained, more eloquently than I ever could, why Sutton has a legitimate grievance.
He pointed out, first and foremost, that Sutton isn't looking for "more" Money, he is looking for more Guarantees on the Money that is already in his current contract.
Scott also pointed out that Ownership breaks their commitments to Players, and Cuts people with Contracts left and right. We just cut Ben Denucci a couple of weeks ago, we are probably going to cut McLaughlin in a few months. Scott was absolutely right when he pointed out that we have Double Standard here; Ownership can break their Commitments whenever they feel like it, but if the Player breaks his commitment, that is an unforgivable Sin.
Finally, Scott reminded us that Football is, by far, the most Dangerous
Sport that exists, yet the Athletes in this Sport get the Least amount of Guaranteed Money. Sutton is Keenly aware that he is one injury away from "not making another Dime".
So, while I do Wish that Sutton was getting in sync with his new QB, Sutton has a legitimate grievance. Scott may change his mind as the workouts become mandatory, as Momentum kicks in, but Scott has thoroughly convinced me that Sutton has every Right to hold out for more Guarantees.
Problem is, as far as Sean Payton is concerned, "giving in" will set a precedent that he does not want. We know Bolles wasn't happy; if Bolles sees Sutton get his contract restructured, he may decide to Hold out too, and Bolles has even more Leverage than Sutton has, because there is zero depth on that Offensive Line. So I expect the Double Standard to continue.
35:42 We are not gong to Negiotiate until you surrender all your leverage......
If Sutton is traded away, that will be a major steal for whoever gets him. Broncos may very well only get a 5th round pick for Sutton. I don't see us gettting even a 4th round pick, because whoever is trading with the Broncos knows that we have no choice but to trade him away.
Love Court but DT was a touchdown threat EVERYTIME he touched the ball
Ya, Damarius Thomas was better than Sutton. I still remember that game winning pass from Tebow to Thomas in the Playoffs.
I disagree that there is more holes on the defense than last year. They got a lot better on d-line. LB is about the same and better in the secondary. Jones from Miami and Caden Stearns returning I think can get play up to his level. PJ Locke is also solid and we don’t know if players like JL Skinner make a jump in camp.
They lost Josey jewell who was leading the defense and their best ilb, and added a 3rd round olb who may/may not ever start so no the lbs aren't basically the same. Also the secondary didn't get better. Justin simmons is an all pro safety. Brandon Jones has had 3 ints in his 4 years of playing. Simmons had 3 last year, and 11 within his first 4 years. I will agree the dline got better, but overall the defense lost more talent than it gained. I would say our 5 best defenders last year were: Simmons, Surtain, Allen, Jewell and McMillian. We lost 2 of 5 of our best defenders from last year.
Sounds to me like the Broncos want to use Sutton while they are still in Cap Hell, and then Throw him out like Yesterday's Trash when their Financial situation improves. Sutton isn't asking for "more" Money, he wants more Guarantees on the Money in his current contract.
