Speaker McCarthy gave a serious, carefully worded, sincere speech that touched on the items that are not controversial. He appears to be committed to follow the rule of law that slipped away into lawlessness during the last two years.
Let us hope that the new Speaker can reach out to the sane elements of both sides of the aisle to forge a strong coalition rooted in unity rather than identity politics, responsible spending rather than inculcating a culture of government handouts, and above all, the preservation of American standard of living rather than eroding it to a third-rate European socialist regime. And finally, let us hope that Speaker McCarthy can convince the people and their elected officials that America shall not be the policeman of the world but police its geographic integrity at its own borders.
