    I'd like to try this it's a nice looking stitch! I'm wanting a very thick coat like duster. I've got a 8.00mm hook and very thick yarn that is compatible to the hook. I'm 5'8" and would like long sleeves as well. Will the first set of 86 chains be long enough for me? Id like it to be ankle length.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  3 роки тому

      The 86 ch's determine the width of the back panel only. The length is determined by the number of rows you complete. This design uses a #3 sport weight yarn. If you change to a bulky yarn and want to add sleeves this becomes an entirely different design requiring another pattern. Here is the link to the written pattern (size small) which might help you visualize the pattern. crazycoolcrochet.com/crochet-long-cardigan-duster/ I am so happy you like this stitch and design, but I cannot advise in too much detail since you are attempting a totally different design. I hope this helps somewheat.

      It’s the same pattern, just different materials. It sounds lovely 😊 but you may have to do lèss stitches per row because of the bigger yarn. For instance, instead of 86 you may only need 60 stitches to cover your back. The same with the other pieces.

    Hi...I just watched this video and I like what you made and I want to try it. At the moment I do not have #3 sport weight, just #4 worsted weight yarn. Will that work? Or will it be too thick and warm??
    I won't be going to Walmart as that isn't an essential and only one person per family can go. I could order Walmart online I guess. This #3 is mainly a baby yarn??

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Michelle. I'm so glad you like this! Using #4 yarn will produce a bit of a thicker, warmer and slightly larger duster. Using a #4 is not a deal breaker, it just won't turn out quite as lighter weight as designed. #3 sport weight yarn is not just for baby yarns, but can be used interchangeably. I do applaud and thank you for following the guidelines so closely and taking the situation so seriously. I too refuse to go out for yarn at this time. My daughter is a nurse at a large hospital and she has 5 kids at home so you can imagine my anxiety level. THANK YOU FOR STAYING HOME! Keep in touch and be safe.

How do you figure out how many to chain to make front panels . Would a bigger hook be ok for a bigger size?

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  5 років тому +2

      Hi Alice. To make a larger size you should increase the beginning chain. For a size large you might try adding 31 chains to the 86 for a total of 107. That would give you a multiple of 3. The 31 extra chains should give you about 5 inches wider.

      Hi Karen. Yes, you can skip the sleeves taking care when attaching the panels, sewing only up to where the armholes would be. Also, the design would leave you with a bit of a drop shoulder. I originally made this with long sleeves but changed it to short. I'm glad you like the color!

    I just started your cardigan today and I am a very new beginner. I am trying to make it for a friend for her birthday and she is a large. I just doubled the 86 chains +3. We will see. The only problem I am having so far is that the bottom is looking scalloped. Any suggestions?

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  5 років тому +1

      Hi Lil. Thank you for trying out this pattern. I'm worried that you might have made the beginning chain too long. When you say you doubled the 86 chains that would be much too long. You might try adding 31 chains to the 86 for a total of 107. That would give you a multiple of 3. The 31 extra chains should give you about 5 inches wider. Not sure about the scallops. That might be happening if you are adding extra stitches. Be sure you are skipping two stitches between V stitches. Hope this helps! EDIT: Also, be careful with the all double crochet rows...starting with row 3...you are entering double crochets with no chains in between the double crochets.

      @CrazyCoolCrochet  5 років тому +1

      @@lilstewart1761 Wow. Thank you so much for the kind words!! I would go with 129 (that would give the multiple of 3) for the starting chain. That should give you a good 10 inches wider from the original small size. If when you are done and it looks too small, add more rows of the single crochet border until it looks right. It will look better anyway if you go ahead and add more rows of the sc border to balance it out.
