Shunned by a village, Left to Die (Hard to believe this . . . )

- This is the story of a dog I found who was shunned by a village and left to die.
Here in Uganda you will often see mud brick houses that have been half built and then they are abandoned for years because the owner doesn't have the money to finish them. One afternoon I was out exploring in a neighboring village and I happened to walk into the back room of this abandoned home. From the dark, I saw two eyes glaring back at me. She was in such a sad state. No one was feeding her, no one was caring for her. She had been shunned by the village and left to die.
I hadn't been prepared for this, and when I approached her and tried to pick her up she urinated on me and ran away. There was nothing I could do. That night as I slept in my comfortable bed I couldn't stop thinking about her. I couldn't stop thinking about how she was starving. I couldn't stop thinking about how she was sleeping on a concrete floor scared to go outside to be stoned by the villagers (Yes, they do that here. People in Uganda, in general, viscerally hate dogs). The floor was infested with sand lice and they were crawling all over my legs. I had to flee to a nearby pond and spend half an hour washing them off of me. Now, as I lay in my comfortable bed all I could imagine was this poor girl -- she was hungry, cold, scared, sick and covered in sand lice. Along with that she had severe mange and ringworm infections. I'd say she had a week, two weeks tops to live. I made a plan that night to go back and save her. She had been shunned by the village and left to die.
There are many dogs I want to help here but I feel overwhelmed and helpless at times. If you would like to help me while I do the hands-on infield work you can check out the gofundme I have set up:

Did you enjoy the film? Her name is Storage. Check out the description above to get more of the back story. Not a day goes by that I don't feel her gratitude. She has become one of my best friends. I already had 5 dogs when I found Storage so I was very hesitant to take in another. But I can easily say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made and I have never regretted helping her. This film was a bit simplified, but over the year of her care I dealt with many medical and behavior issues. Along with mange she also had a severe ringworm infection which took me forever to figure out. She also got a post surgery infection after being spayed. I assume she experienced abuse due to many behavioral issues I've had to deal with. She is ultra aggressive, but with stern but loving discipline I have managed to get her under control.
The truth is, there are so many dogs I have seen here who looked as bad or even worse than Storage did when I found her. Ugandans, in general, have a visceral loathing and hate for dogs. When they see dogs they like to pick up stones and hurl them at the dog. Drivers will often try to run dogs over on the roads because they think it's fun, and instead of developing a spay and neuter program they deal with overpopulation by driving around in a truck and shooting stray dogs. This is a very sad place to live if you love dogs because you see a lot of suffering. If you'd like to adopt a dog or offer any kind of help or advice or if you'd just like to be in my inner circle of dog lovers please message me at: dogsaviorfoundation@gmail.com
I've also set up a gofundme to see what I can do to help dogs this coming year: gofund.me/6502a7db
I'll have another dog rescue video coming up in the next couple months so stay tuned for that. Peace and love guys. Blessings to you and a Merry Christmas!
That is a very noble and loving thing you did Ryan Merry Christmas to you and your family
You are a hero to all creatures. I love dogs too.
What happened to the other dogs?
"Now, as I lay in my comfortable bed all I could imagine was this poor girl -- she was hungry, cold, scared, sick and covered in sand lice."
It's like you saw right past the ACTUAL human girls in need of help around you, while you were anthropomorphizing dogs in your head, thinking of dogs as little fur human babies. What kind of delusion is this?
I'm sad these ppl on the channel are being happy over a dog being "rescued" while the country with millions of human beings, are still ravaged by the aftermaths of rampant colonial exploitation, forced to inherit the poverty caused by that evil Empire on which the Sun Never Sets (the British Empire) bent on world conquest. (No coincidence all those colonies were only able to get independence AFTER ww2 weakened Britain enough, not that they were allowed to go quietly, like 1 million ppl were killed in British Concentration camps installed in Kenya just for trying to free themselves from British oppression. I mean look at India, very happy Britain got attacked in WW2, angry at Churchill killing 7 million more in India, then also invading Iran in 1942.)
Hypocrites, really. What's wrong with you people.
To these Ugandans, it'd be like some foreigners fussing over the treatment of pests. What would your reaction be if ppl fussed over rats getting caught in traps?
Humans should be the highest priority in any "rescue" attempt.
You're going great things here! Stay healthy and blessed my friend!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for those dogs. Now, please ensure their future. Thank you.
What a wonderful transformation, thank you for caring for this dog
Poor baby. I can't imagine humans just leaving her to suffer. She deserves a good life being loved and protected.
Bless you for your kindness, Ryan! The transformation in Storage is amazing!!
What an amazing video, Ryan. On Day 10 it's clear how thankful she is and how much she trusts you. I've seen her in other videos on your Ryan Live channel, and she's such a pretty dog. I can't imagine how much she loves you!
Bless you’re souls for helping her. That is truly a way to measure a man, by his compassion for animals in need.
thank you for sharing and for saving her life. we appreciate you Ryan
Turned out to be a beautiful dog, no way you could forget about her with those eyes. Keep up the good work!
Found your channel after many years again. Thank you for saving her and the other dogs. She seems so happy nowadays.❤️
It's so sad and shocking these people will do this to dogs.
Awesome thing to do. You gained a new subscriber.
Watched this with my wife on our tv with dinner and was like watching the most heart warming movie ever. Nice one Ryan!
My mother decided she liked living in the hospital instead of taking care of the dogs she hoarded. I just placed 25 dogs in a no kill situation looking for new placement. You are a hero dude.
You have absolutely no idea how long it took for me to find you and your channel again. I went through 4 emails and youtube accounts, scrolling through my history all the way through 2013 to 2018 to find you on multiple accounts. Took me weeks, a couple hrs at times. Here I am!! I found you and stumbled upon this very video. Such a great guy you still are. I'm happy for that dog you helped and very happy to have found you once again! I was around 14 to 15 at the time when I started watching your videos in Japan, i'm now 26! Been so long!! Much love!
Wow beautiful dog
Good to see your still alive and well
Man, what a nice ending, glad to see how happy she is in the end!
Wow, thank you so much for helping this poor soul
My very first expat UA-camr that got me into traveling and seeing the world, OG Ryan Boundless. Glad you’re doing well sir. The dog looks great, you rock.
Good to see you again Ryan!
Thank you Ryan!! 👍
I greatly appreciate you helping her.
As a 60 year old life long dog owner, May I offer a little advice ?
No chicken bones unless you want to kill her. When possible if you are next to her get down low, kneeling or standing over them is a kind of dominating position that makes dogs uncomfortable. Be sweet to her and you will have a great friend for life.
GREAT JOB MATE CHEERS
Good, good that you've uploaded this. All the best to you for the next year!
Big ups!
What a beautiful story man! I'm so glad I found your channel. I just moved to the Philippines and have very little. I'm struggling to make it but I have a job. I'm inspired by your journey
Long time no see Ryan, it's good to see a video after all this time, hope to see more like this one...
Ryan glad to see you again
Wonderful job ! Merry Christmas !
Hoping you never leave your dogs behind if you decide to go live in another country.

You got me in happy tears here dude. Hope you and the dogs are doing good. Merry Christmas!

Top man.

Thx for the happy-ending story.

You're one of my favorite humans Ryan, glad to see you back on UA-cam. I especially love your love of animals. Thank you for taking care of the stray dogs you see there. Seeing the transformation of Storage over a year was incredible. I know it'd be impossible for you alone to help all the dogs in Uganda but I would be honored to donate something to your GoFundMe towards that cause as I am an animal lover myself and see the same abuse towards dogs in India and have helped many dogs there live better lives. God bless
We rarely hear from you on UA-cam, but when we do it's a banger. Was riveted. Great work Ryan.
Good to see you again.
