      Love the Mini 14. The newest models are much more accurate.
      Unfortunately they are more expensive than entry level AR-15s.
      But I still bought a new stainless Mini-14 Ranch Rifle
      Put on a Boyd's laminated wood stock.
      Then you have an 'assault rifle' disguised as a regular hunting rifle.
      I remember when children I knew had to shoot my Stainless Steel Mini-14 with the factory stock.
      I didn't know about the 'A-Team'
      That's why their eyes lit up when they saw my Ruger 😎

      Minus him buying his own 416 upper I think the three in the intro are owned by T.Rex that he was shooting with. At least they look like ones I've seen him shoot in his videos. Garand gets a lot of his guns from sponsors for reviews, I would be interested to know what he actually owns. Especially since his channel has finally gotten traction.

      Does the heavy front help with the recoil? I know the gas piston already makes the gun have less recoil but I don't know how much of a factor front-heavy weight distribution is.

    • @Leo___________
      @Leo___________ 4 роки тому +54

      @@HaIsKuL Do you meant that all the extra stuff up front helps control recoil? Sure. But the HK416 itself (much more so than the G36) feels like it has a *lot* of reciprocating mass up front in the gas system. I feels more front heavy than the G36 so I guess the odd recoil impulse is not only a question of being over gassed.

    • @rooster-zg4oo
      @rooster-zg4oo Рік тому

      @Ryan it has nothing to do with the shooter. If everything about the shooter and gun was 100 percent perfect the ammo is 3 moa ammo from the factory. Issued green tip ammo is anyways in the army. They told us it was 3 moa ammo. So if you shot perfect 3 moa was good.

    • @1BeGe
      @1BeGe Рік тому +3

      @@rooster-zg4oo As someone that has probably shot 100,000+ rounds of green tip in my life (and that may be a very low estimate actually), I completely get where you're going with that statement. It's junk for accuracy in general.
      But anyone with a lot of experience with different guns and ammo also knows that some combos mate up really well for completely unknown reasons. I have barrels that, for some reason, shoot crappy Wolf at 1.3 MOA but cannot shoot actual match ammo better than 2 MOA.
      And I'm telling you that M27 barrels and green tip is one of those combos. For some reason green tip shoots exceptionally well out of it.
      And my claim is not that grandiose. "near 1 MOA" (i.e. still over 1 MOA) is really not that amazing. Nobody is gonna win a shooting match with "near 1 MOA". Most precision rifles are considered end of barrel-life if they start approaching being as bad as 1 MOA.
      But when you're used to shooting 4-5 MOA M4's/M16's it does become quite the luxury quite quickly.

    Had the pleasure of using the 14.5" version of the HK during my time in the Norwegian army. The reliability is extreme, no matter the conditions it just performs. During winter field exercises with temperatures below -30 degrees celsius it emptied mags day in and out without issues, even though we used blanks and performed minimal maintenance.

    To be fair, Norway swapped our old AG3 rifles for this one, so weight and recoil both went way down. Soldiers got sick from mysterious gasses because they burnt through "environment friendly" ammo so fast, because it was so fun to shoot.

      I saw Garand Thumb at a gun shop in WA yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
      He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
      I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen HK steel mags in his hands without paying.
      The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
      When she took one of the mags and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each mag and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

    I have the MR 556 A1 and Love it!!! What I don’t Love is the Dent it left in My wallet as well, But I do Love the Fact that if I do decide to sell it I can get at least double than what I paid for it.. And another reason the 416 was developed was because SOCOM also wanted a M4 that was OTB ready ( Over the Beach ) and wouldn’t explode when water was trapped in the DI system … And Yes Normal Pmags don’t work, but Emags do along with Lancer, Troy, MFT, and of course STANAG..

    • @Excludos
      @Excludos 5 років тому +33

      Yes, that is exactly why my (Norwegian) army adopted it. We previously had the G3 (or AG3 for our variant) which also famously was stupid reliable (You could run over it with a tank and it would still work I swear), and wanted to continue that tradition. So we adopted the 416 for use not only in our close to arctic conditions, but also in the sands down in the middle east, and it has worked wonderfully so far.
      If only we got issued better optics and a front grip other than the oversized broom handle.

My HK had (if I remember correctly) about 7-8 Failures to eject and feel during one of our range days. out of 7000+ rounds at the time. issue was I simply hadn't lubed her up well enough, it was humid and cold, but after pulling out the bold&carrier and drenching it in oil. checking the Gas setting (and swearing louder than any sailor you've ever meet) I got the rifle going again. honestly don't know if that's all because operator error or rifle being part of the first 300 to be used by a norwegian Soldier. but I'd bring that rifle anywhere and trust it fully.

    I loved this gun while I was in the Norwegian military. A lot of us kinda hated the stock shoulder strap though, so our second officer gave us this idea of using some tough rubber band usually used to tie down camouflage nets when they're bundled up. Just cut it down to length, clip one hook as usual into the gun, and the other end of the loop into one of the bands on the combat vest. It gave great ergonomics for quickly shouldering the stock for firing positions, and as an added bonus you could feel cool by just shrugging the weapon onto or off your back, or onto the side of your backpack, if you were on a long-range patrol-type of outing. Kinda goofy and probably laughable to some, but it worked great for most setups.

      I'm snipping a few screenshots from some old pics though unfortunately it's never "entirely" in frame, though all you're missing is the clip/hook I slung on the loop to clip/unclip the gun from my shoulder.

    The Norwegian army uses the HK-416 as their service rifle, but as far as I know, the special forces still chose the MK-18 or the CC C8 CQB over the HK-416.
    Edit: Only exception to this is the Coastal Ranger Commando whom aren't classified as a special operations units, but they still act/operate as one, and unlike FSK and MJK they do use the HK-416.

    Carried one for almost 2 years and through a couple deployments when I was in the corps. PMags work fine on the factory gun. Decking it out in all sorts of accessories doesn’t make the rifle perform any better. The only gripe I ever had with it is the factory buttstock. They are wide as hell with a massive rubber end piece that makes it difficult to shoulder while wearing armor. Food for thought
